"Owned" means to be utterly defeated, destroyed, completely controlled, or compromised. To annihilate the competition such that a comeback is not possible.

In practice, I think it’s things like buying single use plastic water bottles and putting the empty bottles in the trash, or dressing as the Frito Bandito for Halloween. The point is to trigger a meltdown and then laugh at the people having the meltdown.

I kind of agree. A person wouldn't say "I owned the libs". It would be used as an accusation against someone else, like if a guy were to go to class in a dress, it would be said, "He's only doing that to own the libs." So yes, it's mocking someone else for doing something to get a rise out of others.

In a weird way, Trump made "owning the libs" almost impossible because no one is shocked anymore because there is no bottom. Death threats, mocking the handicapped, racism - you name it - it's all on full display. So it's almost impossible to "own" or provoke a response because everyone is numb to the ugliness

I did see something funny yesterday on X. As a prank, a group of guys put on Harris/Walz shirts and went door to door. The people they met were warm to them because the people were Harris supporters. Then the guys asked the homeowners to house an undocumented immigrant they had with them.. The sudden change in the expressions on the homeowners’ faces and their excuses for why they couldn’t were funny.

The sudden change in expressions was due to the realization that it was a group of MAGAts impersonating Harris supporters for a prank, in what the MAGATs evidently thought was some sort of a 'gotcha' moment.

Asking someone to 'house' anyone in their own home, migrant or not, is simply not done; it's not a realistic request or expectation. Nor is it even remotely equivalent to a community absorbing migrants into its populace.
