Darling

Anyone know who Diana Scott was based on? According to an interview with John Schlesinger or it could have been Frederic Raphael, Diana was based on a model who was kept by a number of prominent men and later killed herself.

The film is a great companion piece to Bitter Harvest.

Just seen it again and I can’t get over how on point it is when to this day.

Btw to anyone who thinks she kills the fish, she doesn’t but she watches on as her gay friend Kills them.

They’re both excellent in this movie, especially Harvey as the bisexual playboy full of cattiness but still sexy too somehow.

I’m still dying to find out if anybody knows who the shoplifting, amoral, bored Diana is based on.

John Schlesinger really was light years ahead of any other director when it came to portraying gays. In both Sunday Bloody Sunday and Darling, the gay men are just being and it’s really refreshing to see, particularly for that era.

I can’t get enough of these 60s dramas. This and L Shaped Room are two of my favourites from the period.

Anybody else a fan of the L Shaped Room?

I found her gay friend ‘irresistibly cute’’ especially at the beach. He was ‘’straight’’& married but after the film is released Roland Curram (92) comes out gay-maybe he was inspired by Dirk?

Now that the criminal is back in the White House permanently we can focus on more important things like film.
