Which "Prestige" Show is the most low brow
I swear so many mediocre shows get labeled prestigious, witty, and cultured by Americans who are under educated, over opinionated, and overweight.
Maybe I'm just bitter, but nothing compares to The Remains of the Day, Gosford Park, or Upstairs Downstairs.

Bridgerton is just fluffy, Disney fantasy sequence bullshit, though for me the box ticking Anne with a E was as painful in its own savagely rewritten way.

R1 I agree. I just want a historically accurate show that is well written and acted.

I read an interesting article about prestige TV. The gist is that prestige TV has been around long enough that there is now an established aesthetic. That means that as long as a show checks off certain boxes (color palette, music, stunt casting) then it gets called prestige TV which leads to media attention and praise.
The consequence is that we're left with a bunch of empty, terminally boring shows. The Morning Show, Apples Never Fall and any of Nicole Kidman's projects are great examples of shows with nothing to say.
