Just when you thought The Acolyte was the biggest piece of shit to come out of Star Wars, get ready for Skeleton Crew!
Couldn't be more wrong if you tried, OP. Just watched the first two episodes and they're such a delight, made my numb self feel like I wanted to go on an adventure! Incredibly polished for a kids show, it's weird how adult sisters shows like The Acolyte have much shittier writing and visuals.
Having said that, the trailer did prepare me for another disaster, it does look kinda crap. But after Wicked and now this, I think I've learned my lesson not to judge the final product from its trailer.

“It’s a “Star Wars” story because we say it is.”

It does feel more Star Wars than some of those other shows, though. The aliens look more genuinely SW than on Acolyte, plus there's some really intriguing Empire/Republic stuff going on with the kids' home planet.
It just comes down to a vibe, I guess – some have more of that SW energy than others. It's not the best example because it looks so different than other Trek shows, but I'm reminded of how Prodigy feels more Trek than most other NuTrek shows.

It's getting good reviews, but I have no interest in watching it. Star Wars is dead to me.

It's getting a good reception on Reddit as well, which is the true litmus test. Let's see how long that lasts though, as more episodes roll out.
r4 Yeah, I only made an exception and watched it because I read it was a kids show. I'm kinda done with Star Wars after Acolyte, I don't even think I'll return for Andor. I'm also just too bummed out in real life, I don't need to watch depressing crap on TV as well. But a cute little pirate adventure show like this one is perfect for a little escapism.
