SHAVING AFTER 60? WELL, DO YOU?

During covid and those couple of years of working from home Igave up shaving together and I'm not going back! I think I look pretty good with a nice quarter to half+one-inch beard and can't wait till it fully white not patchy. I found that I'm surprised that it doesn't bother what people think, either!

Does anyone still shave after 60? Why?

Also, no more razor cuts and nicks and of course the money saved from razors and shaving paraphernalia!

by Anonymousreply 1November 1, 2024 9:58 PM

I go for a week now without shaving and it’s great!

by Anonymousreply 2November 1, 2024 9:58 PM

I'm 71 and I shave every day. I can't stand stubble on my face. Although, I have switched from a regular razor to an electric.

by Anonymousreply 3November 1, 2024 10:00 PM

I haven't shaved with a razor in years, but the longest I let it go is a few days then I use a beard trimmer on the lowest setting. Love it.

by Anonymousreply 4November 1, 2024 10:01 PM

We don’t care.

by Anonymousreply 5November 1, 2024 10:02 PM

Pro tip for beard wearers who hate the clean up required after a beard trim:

-- Buy a Flowbee. Trim your beard to the length you like with NO clean up required!

by Anonymousreply 6November 1, 2024 10:06 PM

I shave the loose pooosey.

by Anonymousreply 7November 1, 2024 10:08 PM

Do you look 30?

by Anonymousreply 8November 1, 2024 10:14 PM

Even if I don’t shower, I shave daily (with razor). And a long shave, too. I like the feel & look of a smooth face.

by Anonymousreply 9November 1, 2024 10:22 PM

[quote]SHAVING AFTER 60? WELL, DO YOU?

I'm invisible anyway, so why bother?

by Anonymousreply 10November 1, 2024 10:26 PM

That would never happen with me, r9. I detest shaving, and I only shave 🪒 in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 11November 1, 2024 10:27 PM

[quote]I think I look pretty good with a nice quarter to half+one-inch beard.

You don’t.

by Anonymousreply 12November 1, 2024 10:31 PM

Your asshole?

by Anonymousreply 13November 1, 2024 10:36 PM

Younger men who want to practice good skincare should get into the habit of daily shaving.

by Anonymousreply 14November 1, 2024 10:39 PM

63 here and I shave about 3 times a week.

by Anonymousreply 15November 1, 2024 10:45 PM

I stopped shaving during the pandemic I never had a beard before. I received positive comments from friends and family so I kept it now I trim it once a week.

by Anonymousreply 16November 1, 2024 10:54 PM

I'm so sick of old guys sporting ugly facial hair! Beards on old men (sorry Santa) are repulsive and trashy. Trump rallies teem with bearded, bloated geezers with full-face bushes. Ugh! Have a little pride, people! America is full of slobs constantly whining about comfort. What about the comfort of my eyeballs when confronted by your full-face bush???

by Anonymousreply 17November 1, 2024 10:55 PM

I’ve gotten so many compliments on my designer stubble and new tattoos!

by Anonymousreply 18November 1, 2024 11:20 PM

61 and I shave around 2-3 times a week. I never had a heavy beard or five o'clock shadow, so no one really notices.

by Anonymousreply 19November 1, 2024 11:53 PM

After 60 you really have to up your grooming or you start to look homeless.

by Anonymousreply 20November 1, 2024 11:56 PM

R17 made me LOL.

You know what? I’ve given up on commenting on how old, disheveled, & homeless old men look with beards.

It’s none of I business, & I DGAF.

Let it grow, gentlemen, let it grow!

by Anonymousreply 21November 2, 2024 12:06 AM

If I see my reflection with my readers on, then I immediately go into deforestation mode. Pluck nose, ear hairs. Use groomer to cut around ears, neck and and the weird, asymmetrical, forehead growth. I take a bath. Then, I shave my face, my pits, tits and naughty bits. Going lower, I shave most hair above the knees and finally, I shave the tops of my feet.

by Anonymousreply 22November 2, 2024 12:20 AM

"What about the comfort of my eyeballs when confronted by your full-face bush???"

After a lifetime of trying to please assholes like you, in retirement I've earned the right to be slovenly, and to tell you and your eyeballs to go DIAGF.

Just be thankful you're not down wind of me, bitch.

Young guys with various facial-scruff looks have swag and are sexy. Sixty-plus guys (unless they sport a well-kept full beard, goatee or mustache) who do only the in between scruff look, resemble hobos.

by Anonymousreply 24November 2, 2024 12:24 AM

r24 Says you and everyone must agree with you?

by Anonymousreply 25November 2, 2024 12:26 AM

I went back to shaving every 3 days. I look younger without heavy stubble.

by Anonymousreply 26November 2, 2024 12:27 AM

r24 r20 and r17 are correct. But I have grown so old, I don't give one single fuck what they think. It's not like they'd be lining up to fuck me in the ass if I were clean-shaven.

Yeah, not one single fuck.

by Anonymousreply 27November 2, 2024 12:30 AM

I shave my taint

by Anonymousreply 28November 2, 2024 12:31 AM

There are always exceptions, & #16 is one helluva an exception!

R12, that's the thing, I go about my business and don't care what people think. I like being invisible to those who don't like it.

by Anonymousreply 30November 2, 2024 12:42 AM

R4, yes, that's what I do too, go a couple weeks then use a trimmer. If I go go more than 3 weeks it looks fluffy and afer a month I heard Santa Claus like

by Anonymousreply 31November 2, 2024 12:44 AM

R10, I love being invisible

by Anonymousreply 32November 2, 2024 12:45 AM

I still do because a beard makes me look older.

by Anonymousreply 33November 2, 2024 1:00 AM

I'm 63 and think an unshaven face on guys our age looks hideous. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 34November 2, 2024 1:06 AM

Just my pussy.

by Anonymousreply 35November 2, 2024 1:17 AM

64 here and I still have a White Collar job. It would never occur to me to not shave. You must be all fat bears with stay at home jobs. I hate facial hair, especially when it's grown to hide double, triple and no chins. Just my preference.

by Anonymousreply 36November 2, 2024 1:22 AM

I’m sorry, but I’ve arrived at old age with digestive issues and a healthy fear of poop spume.

I use private and public bathrooms too often throughout the day to sport a beard. I’d feel like I had an invisible layer of shit on my face.

I also keep my phone in my bag in the bathroom for the same reason.

by Anonymousreply 37November 2, 2024 1:31 AM

I remember a date in my 20’s with a sweet, attractive guy. He cooked us dinner and then we went out to hear some live music. It was very romantic until we kissed that night and all I could smell was the fish we’d had for dinner on his beard. That experience put me off of facial hair.

by Anonymousreply 38November 2, 2024 2:32 AM

Lol, r33, that's right, the "readers on" review. I do check to see what's needs to be trimmed or cleaned up. When I see a reflection in a store I sometimes do see where I might be hobo-adjacent, especially if I throw on baseball cap and I'm a week or in of needing a haircut.

by Anonymousreply 39November 2, 2024 4:39 AM

Old men grow out their beards NOW? I CANT BELIEVE MY EARS

by Anonymousreply 40November 2, 2024 4:44 AM

OP I shave everyday. Even on the weekends. It's call self respect.

by Anonymousreply 41November 24, 2024 6:51 AM

... called ...

by Anonymousreply 42November 24, 2024 6:51 AM

We're both retired, shave everyday. Sensitive skin doesn't help mind you. Can't stand anything patchy looking. I'm still a faded blonde but my partner is fully grey.

by Anonymousreply 43November 24, 2024 7:01 AM

If you're older than 60 and you're not shaving every day, you're just fucking lazy

by Anonymousreply 44November 24, 2024 7:17 AM

I found that my face got more and more sensitive with age and nicked easily with my favorite razors (twin blades). I bought one of those 3-head floating razors, so now I shave with the electric razor, shower, wash my face, and then afterwards shave with my twin blade. No more nicks and my face is smooth for a good part of the day until my beard starts to grow out. Somehow, I've adjusted to having white hair and some people even compliment me on it, but whenever I grow out my beard a bit, it quickly looks like a dirty snowball hit me in the chin, and I quickly shave it off.

by Anonymousreply 45November 24, 2024 10:04 AM

I shave my nuts in the morning

by Anonymousreply 46November 24, 2024 1:29 PM

Why you old farts think the white beard look is hawt is beyond me. Adds 700 years.

by Anonymousreply 47November 24, 2024 2:01 PM

[quote]I shave my nuts in the morning

I love the smell of shaved nuts in the morning. It smells like...victory

by Anonymousreply 48November 24, 2024 3:07 PM

I stopped shaving during the pandemic my beard was salt and pepper now it's 85% gray and still looks good as long as I keep it neat and trimmed.

by Anonymousreply 49November 26, 2024 11:40 PM

This thread served to remind me that I had yet to shave today. On to that now. And to think there are some who think DL serves no useful service.

by Anonymousreply 50November 27, 2024 1:03 AM

My dermatologist suggested that I shaved my beard for the winter. I'm 65 and I am planning to possibly get one final go round of cosmetic surgery. She wanted me to have a 3 to 4 month of using trentonin on my full face. I need some work done on my neck and likely need a facelift. I hate shaving, I feel unattractive without a beard.

by Anonymousreply 51November 27, 2024 3:36 AM

I’m 60 and stopped wearing a shirt most days. Everyone says I look fantastic!
