I actually found myself really enjoying Grotesquerie. It turned out to be a pretty interesting and ambitious series from Ryan Murphy. The worst thing about that show is how Nicholas’s talents were so underused . Father Charlie was the most interesting character on the show and it wasn’t just because of how the character was written, but because of how Nicholas portrayed him. I found him genuinely interesting but so underused and Nicholas has such appeal.

I actually learned he did subtle things that weren’t directed or scripted, just simple little things while in character that stood out. An interesting actor. I look forward to seeing his future work as an actor. He seems pretty in demand to model for magazines and brands right now, hope he doesn’t get distracted.

I actually felt he acted circles around Niecy in their scene last night and that says something because I think she did a terrific job throughout this series.

He’s also really, really easy on the eyes.

Yeah, I don’t get the Glen comparison at all. Different age, different look, different vibe, different point in their careers—Glen’s name gets a studio movie made at this point whereas NAC hasn’t even been in a real movie yet.

Glen has been in the industry for YEARS. He may have just finally had a breakout at 35 but he’s been in the industry since he was young. The industry mostly ignored him until Top Gun Maverick came out and was a massive hit.

Nicholas just started in 2021. He’s been in the industry for 3 years and most of that time was on a soap. However, he’s quickly breaking out, unlike Glen. Everyone has taken notice of him asap. He’s a special talent.

During the very first screening given of “Monsters” for critics and Hollywood execs and the important people at Netflix who were there to watch it, Ryan Murphy spoke before the premiere (like they all do). He sang the praises of every one of the actors and everyone who worked on the show. He sang the praises of the shows new, fresh young leads Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and then singled out Nicholas and told everyone in the room, “get ready to see a star in the making” in regards to Nicholas. After watching the dailies and all the footage he knew he had someone special on his hands and couldn’t wait for everyone else to watch because he knew he was about to breakout, and he was right.

That’s also why he offered him a role in Grotesquerie. He wanted this new young actor he felt he knew was about to have a moment in his other new show.

The show already started filming with the other actors but he still hadn’t cast the Charlie role, and shortly before Monsters finished wrapping he called Nicholas up personally and told him he’s been working on a new show that is a passion project of his, and he has an interesting role and he wants Nicholas to play it. Nicholas was touched and shocked that Ryan even thought of him to offer him a role straight out without an audition or anything. He accepted the role. The final day of filming Monsters they filmed, wrapped, went around saying goodbye to everyone (and according to Cooper both him and Nicholas shared a moment crying together at the very end). They finished wrapping very late. Ryan Murphy had a car come pick up Nicholas and drive him to a hotel near the new filming location for Grotesquerie. He took a shower, slept for a few hours then had to wake up early the next morning and go straight to set to start filming the new show.

He had no break after filming Monsters for 8 months.

Charli XCX also performed and Cooper was having a blast 😆

R172, I also read that they started rehearsals on Monsters before he had even wrapped GH. And ever since Grotesquerie wrapped it’s been nonstop press. He must be exhausted.

They were sent a few scripts for Monsters in June of 2023 r174. Cooper was sent episode 5 along with the first couple of scripts so he could rehearse and memorize it all by the time it was filmed many months later because it would be filmed in one shot. No takes, all one long shot, so he had to nail it. If he messed up they would have to start from beginning to end. But they shot the episode in one take 8 times, so there are essentially 8 versions of that one episode somewhere.

Yes, he was still working on GH when rehearsals and fittings etc were going on. He filmed his final episode of GH in December of 2023 and it aired the following month. But I don’t think it was heavy rehearsals as the show didn’t start officially filming until late January or early February if this year.

He seems uncomfortable in his own skin, which is funny as he’s so handsome. But like someone else said upthread, that’s a common trait actors have and part of why they love acting. They can be other people.

One thing that caught my attention about the panel was that Thirsty Cooper took Nicholas’s seat. With each person who is called out, they sit on the seat closest to the exit. Cooper Koch is supposed to be on the seat next to Javier Bardem but sat in the seat that is next to Ryan Murphy, pushing Nicholas to the third seat 🤣.

Also, Nicholas got a much louder applause than Cooper. As usual. I know she was seething deep down.

I remember him mentioning when he got a call to go audition for GH he was in a room with about 20+ other guys and all of them were some of the best looking men he’d ever seen so he felt so insecure and was certain he wasn’t landing the role. He was shocked when he got the part. And I’m thinking, “dude, YOU ARE HANDSOME”. It’s almost like he has no idea he’s attractive himself.

He’s also stated how with time he started gaining more anxiety while on GH. The more his fanbase grew and everyone praised him the more he grew anxiety it seems, particularly social anxiety. So imagine someone who is PAINFULLY SHY in real life and who was starting to gain anxiety in a soap bubble now being thrown onto a global stage. He will get used to it though.

If you watch the candid footage of him posing on red carpets it’s easy to read his facial expression and body language and “humorless” and “arrogant” and a “narcissist” but if you really watch him you see a shy young man struggling with anxiety but trying to do his job. He also seems overstimulated. The body language screams of anxiety. The little ticks he does, like checking his watch every few seconds. That’s not because he feels he is too good to be there. It’s just a coping mechanism. Same with the tapping the foot. It’s all little coping mechanisms.

He will get used to it though. He does better when one of his costars is next to him.

Yes I liked his cameo days while he was on GH. He did them for a little while but the more popular he got he eventually stopped. Same with the public appearances he would do with his costar. Once they started getting bigger and bigger he grew more anxious and stopped doing them.

He’s starting to get recognized more. Someone spotted him eating at a restaurant earlier with his girlfriend and someone else.

And this was about an hour or two ago. Someone saw him waiting with luggage in LA. He’s on his way to NYC.

Well, being that he is American, no.

So fucking proud of him. He’s usually so uncomfortable and quiet and tense during interviews (lately, not during his soap days) but today he is super laid back, calm, friendly, smiling big, seems happy and excited.

Kelly and Mark are practically falling over for him. They can’t stop fawning over him and singing his praises! Like most people.

Watching his Kelly & Mark interview is the only thing that’s brightened this awful day for me. Never underestimate the value of a cute guy with a pretty smile.

I loved when Mark told him he should do a Rom-Com next. That’s what I said. He has gained momentum off of playing two very dark roles and he will forever be linked to Lyle Menendez now. He doesn’t wanna typecast himself.

And then Kelly enthusiastically telling him she can’t wait to see what his future roles are so she can watch. She’s so excited for him and seemed so sweet and genuine with him. I loved it.

I wonder who the fatty is that Mark brought Nick over to meet.
