Abortion bans kill another woman

This time in Texas

She's brown. White women don't care

by Anonymousreply 1October 30, 2024 6:09 PM

She died in misery. Poor lady, RIP.

by Anonymousreply 2October 30, 2024 6:12 PM

So?

by Anonymousreply 3October 30, 2024 6:13 PM

Imagine waiting the 40 hours, finally getting the treatment, then dying of sepsis 3 days later.

I don't think people realize the FULL impact of this - it's not just that she lost her life, but 2 small kids lost their mother at a young age, her husband who works full-time now has to take on 100% of the responsibilities of day care.

Traumatizing for the entire family and extended family for DECADES.

by Anonymousreply 4October 30, 2024 6:18 PM

The right claims all their anti-abortion laws have exceptions for the life of the woman.

That's the problem, the woman has to literally be at death's door before an abortion is allowed.

by Anonymousreply 5October 30, 2024 6:20 PM

Maybe she shouldn't have voted for the GOP

by Anonymousreply 6October 30, 2024 6:20 PM

Amazing how abortion is more than just literally the abortion...

by Anonymousreply 7October 30, 2024 6:21 PM

[quote]White women don't care

They've shown up in droves to support pro-choice ballot initiatives in the wake of the Dobbs decision.

by Anonymousreply 8October 30, 2024 6:26 PM

R8, but they're still going to vote for the GOP by a majority, like they always do.

by Anonymousreply 9October 30, 2024 6:27 PM

[quote][R8], but they're still going to vote for the GOP by a majority, like they always do.

According to Pew's analysis of validated voter data, Trump captured 28% of the Hispanic woman vote against Clinton and 37% against Biden. His enduring popularity is more than a white problem.

by Anonymousreply 10October 30, 2024 6:36 PM

But this happened in September 2021? Shouldn’t this have been a non-issue then?

by Anonymousreply 11October 30, 2024 6:50 PM

Texas had already passed their abortion bans before Roe was overturned, so it’s not really clear.

by Anonymousreply 12October 30, 2024 6:54 PM

Women need to leave TX en masse. Then the men can scratch their stupid heads and wonder why no one wants them in this state.

by Anonymousreply 13October 30, 2024 6:56 PM

R11/R12 - I believe the point is that it's heading toward a federal ban and leaving the laws to the states as some patchwork - you're safe here, you're not safe here over this line - is repulsive.

by Anonymousreply 14October 30, 2024 6:57 PM

What fucking bullshit! So sick of hearing this kind of barbarism going on. I'm at a loss for words atm.

by Anonymousreply 15October 30, 2024 6:59 PM

"Good. That little whore deserved it!" -- str8 white bro, unable to understand why their single but knows it all womens' fault

by Anonymousreply 16October 30, 2024 7:05 PM

Texans want this, or else they’d stop voting Republican.

by Anonymousreply 17October 30, 2024 7:05 PM

R17 - the problem in Texas over and over again is that it has one of the lowest voter turnouts in elections. This is why Republicans win there.

Texas was 45th in voter turn-out in 2020 with 59%. Only 34% of Texans voted in the governor race with Abbott winning again in 2022. In 2014, only 25% voted in the governor election.

The Dems in Texas are lazy. I hope they get off their ass and it becomes a new habit. I hate Texas - but if they got rid of their just God awful politicians and laws - I'm willing to reconsider.

by Anonymousreply 18October 30, 2024 7:20 PM

[quote][R17] - the problem in Texas over and over again is that it has one of the lowest voter turnouts in elections. This is why Republicans win there.

Better hope more Californians keep moving in then.

I agree. If more Texans voted we could get this state to turn Blue. Maybe. What needs to be done is to get rid of the electoral college. That is another reason some Dems won't vote in this state. I used that as an excuse as well for not voting in the past. My first time voting was 1992 when I was 21. Even though Clinton won it was a bit disheartening that Texas still went Republican per the electoral college.

End it now! Make EVERY vote matter!

by Anonymousreply 20October 30, 2024 7:38 PM

I meant count, not matter.

by Anonymousreply 21October 30, 2024 7:39 PM

Republicans are PURE EVIL.

by Anonymousreply 22October 30, 2024 7:43 PM

[quote] But this happened in September 2021? Shouldn’t this have been a non-issue then?

Turns out that data nationwide about state maternal mortality rates are only coming out now, two years later. That's how we know that at least 2 women in Georgia died because of the anti-abortion laws.

Now this is coming out about a Texas woman. Many more will emerge soon.

by Anonymousreply 23October 30, 2024 8:22 PM

Just one woman in Ireland dying because abortion was illegal completely outraged the country. Soon, the Irish pushed the Catholic Church's policy influence away--voted to make abortion legal and gay marriage legal.

Here, women die because of crazy laws and we shrug. The man who made this all possible might be reelected.

by Anonymousreply 24October 30, 2024 8:24 PM

R24 - the issue and discussion was there for decades in Ireland. Plenty of women were taking the ferries over to England to have abortions.

It's more of the Irish push-back against the Church that started in the 90's with all the scandals and general secularization.

It's crazy that divorce was only legalized in Ireland in 1996 and abortion in 2019.

The country went from over 90% weekly church attendance in 1975 to under 27% in 2022.

by Anonymousreply 25October 30, 2024 8:41 PM

R25, yes, the conditions were ripe but the woman's death pushed it over

by Anonymousreply 26October 30, 2024 8:42 PM

Jesus never mentioned abortion and it’s nowhere in the Bible. Not sure why Catholics and Christians have decided this is the hill they wish to die on.

by Anonymousreply 27October 30, 2024 8:46 PM

R27

This verse is a big one:

[quote]Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you; and I ordained you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:15

and this passage:

[quote]for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 138 13-16

by Anonymousreply 28October 30, 2024 9:32 PM

[quote] Not sure why Catholics and Christians have decided this is the hill they wish to die on.

Look up how Evangelicals settled on abortion as their main political issue.

It started with Evangelicals not wanting to to have to educate their kids in the same schools as black kids. Seriously

by Anonymousreply 29October 30, 2024 9:52 PM

R28, The Bible so says alot of shit they ignore: Brides who are not virgins must be put to death, you cannot wear clothes of two materials, men cannot shave their beards, you cannot eat shrimp or pork.

You can literally find the defense of anything one wants in the Bible.

by Anonymousreply 30October 30, 2024 9:54 PM

[quote] They've shown up in droves to support pro-choice ballot initiatives in the wake of the Dobbs decision.

We won’t know that until election night next week.

by Anonymousreply 31October 30, 2024 10:04 PM

R28 - and Genesis 2 says life begins at the first breath. Exodus 21 also makes a distinction between loss of life after the first breath and a miscarriage.

The Catholic church thought abortion was fine up to the quickening or around 40 days (in earlier medieval times it was 80 days if it was a female - not sure how they'd know that).

The Catholic church changed its position on abortion in the latter half of the 19th century to increase its members. Seriously. It was a calculated move.

It's sick. So many women had too many children - neglected, starving kids and exhausted mothers. Fathers who couldn't feed them all. Way too many women dying in childbirth and leaving the kids motherless.

by Anonymousreply 32October 31, 2024 3:31 AM

R1

Yes, we do care. Very much.

by Anonymousreply 33October 31, 2024 3:34 AM

Yes we fucking do R1. What the hell is wrong with you?

by Anonymousreply 34October 31, 2024 3:37 AM

Another one:

I hope her family sues the wheel chairs out from Mr. Abbott's ass!

by Anonymousreply 36November 1, 2024 5:13 PM

Poor lady, she didn’t stand a chance with the name Heaven spelled backwards.

by Anonymousreply 37November 1, 2024 5:16 PM

Screw Texas! They think they can compete with us with their medieval abortion laws?

We are laughing at you.

by Anonymousreply 38November 1, 2024 5:21 PM

"BREAKING: Texas OB-GYNs issue powerful letter demanding action after preventable deaths tied to state’s abortion ban.

In a scathing letter, Texas OB-GYNs are calling out the tragic, avoidable deaths of Josseli Barnica and Nevaeh Crain—deaths they say are direct consequences of Texas’s draconian abortion laws.

These doctors lay it out: the law shackles them from providing medically necessary care, leaving women’s lives at risk and doctors fearing imprisonment just for doing their job.

This isn’t just a letter—it’s a call to action.

The OB-GYNs are urging Texas policymakers to overhaul these restrictive laws, emphasizing that healthcare is on the ballot.

Their message is clear: without change, more lives will be on the line, and they’re not backing down in their fight for the right to provide life-saving care."

Thank you, R33 and R34.

I’m too angry to trust myself to write reasonably.

by Anonymousreply 40November 4, 2024 5:03 AM

They keep fucking around and not only will Kamala and Tim win (which they will anyway), but not one republican on the ticket will be re-elected.

by Anonymousreply 41November 4, 2024 5:08 AM

I see MAGAts arguing with doctors on social media all the time. They really are delusional enough to think they know more than MDs (and some PhDs). Ok. Go drink that aquarium cleaner thinking you are owning the libs and treating your cancer with Vitamin C and essential oils. But the shouldn't be allowed to affect medical policy and treatment for everyone else.

by Anonymousreply 42November 4, 2024 12:11 PM

Is TX (and other states with repressive anti-abortion laws) experiencing trouble getting doctors, especially ob-gyns, to move there?

by Anonymousreply 43November 4, 2024 12:19 PM

I want that odious Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett to agonize and lose sleep over the vote she cast to repeal ROE v. WADE.

For every one of these women she voted to murder, I want her guilt to be relentless and overwhelming.

She deserves it.

by Anonymousreply 44November 4, 2024 12:22 PM

Women need to do a Lysistrata and stop giving up pussy till they get their rights back.

by Anonymousreply 45November 4, 2024 2:08 PM

[quote]She's brown. White women don't care

r1 can fuck right off with that divide and conquer bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 46November 4, 2024 2:11 PM

the last young lady in texas to die was indeed white though

by Anonymousreply 47November 4, 2024 2:16 PM

[quote]Is TX (and other states with repressive anti-abortion laws) experiencing trouble getting doctors, especially ob-gyns, to move there?

Yes. Not only because of interference in how they train and practice but also because many physicians start families of their own during residency or early in their attending careers. Why would they put themselves (or their spouses) at risk if they have other options?

Her family should sue those responsible for millions of dollars, and I hope they win.

by Anonymousreply 49November 4, 2024 3:05 PM

I hope her family sues the hospital, too.

by Anonymousreply 50November 4, 2024 3:35 PM

R44, AGREED!

by Anonymousreply 51November 4, 2024 3:42 PM

MAGA doesn't give a hoot about dead women.

by Anonymousreply 52November 4, 2024 6:55 PM

It should make every woman angry that they have been reduced to an incubator with no needs of their own
