I thought it would not be a big deal but I like to go out to bars with friends and he never comes and rarely goes out and has fully embraced a sober lifestyle.
I'm happy for him but I'm not sober and it's proving a challenge.

Acknowledging that you're not in the same lane regarding sobriety would be beneficial to you both. More so for your partner, as they deserve someone who is supportive of sobriety.
You'd be an asshole to keep going out with the different directions you're both moving in.

R1 you make it sound like OP’s boyfriend is a recovering alcoholic or drug addict. I took the OP to mean that the BF simply doesn’t drink and also can’t be arsed to go out and socialize and have a soft drink.

R3 Does it matter if they simply don't drink or go out when the other person in the relationship DOES love going out, and is a fan of drinking? There's a fundamental difference between the lifestyles, it's the kind of difference that will lead to serious animosity unless one of the two does a 180.

You're not compatible OP. Neither one of you is wrong for this, but you are not compatible and probably can't stay together.
