Bezos spins like only a nasty billionaire chud can
Human-sized spermazoid writes to defend his bad decision in the paper he owns
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 31, 2024 12:34 AM |
This is infuriating.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 29, 2024 2:16 AM |
First thread had a better, actually searchable post title
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 29, 2024 2:18 AM |
Kudos that he even has the chutzpah do write this. But in the words of a Phildaelphia inquirer writer, “Bezos lets you know what the press is like under a dictatorship”
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 29, 2024 2:18 AM |
What was the first thread?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 29, 2024 2:18 AM |
Apparently 200,000 WAPO subscribers have already cancelled. His so-called explanation (sorry, not sorry) is twisted pretzel logic and only confirmed to me I was right to cancel.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 29, 2024 2:26 AM |
Totally insane
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 29, 2024 2:30 AM |
I hope people are trying to find alternatives to Amazon too. I am.
Our spending decisions give power to creatures such as Bezos. They will only amend their behaviour if we spend elsewhere instead.

Never did prime, never will

And here's the tell:
[quote]I would also like to be clear that no quid pro quo of any kind is at work here. Neither campaign nor candidate was consulted or informed at any level or in any way about this decision. It was made entirely internally. Dave Limp, the chief executive of one of my companies, Blue Origin, met with former president Donald Trump on the day of our announcement. I sighed when I found out, because I knew it would provide ammunition to those who would like to frame this as anything other than a principled decision. But the fact is, I didn’t know about the meeting beforehand. Even Limp didn’t know about it in advance; the meeting was scheduled quickly that morning.
Tell me again how the CEO of Bezos' nascent space effort meeting with Shitler wasn't planned, and I call you an absolute idiot. CEOs don't meet with former Presidents in the spur of the moment. These meetings are planned for months.
Tell me again how the owner of a multi-billion dollar company doesn't speak with his CEO every day — or at least the day he's meeting with the once and potentially future president — and I'll write "idiot" on your forehead [italic]with a sharpie[/italic] (maybe that will ring a bell).
Tell me again how this decision was made internally, and I'll try to explain that no one at the [italic]Post[/italic] was consulted. rendering this decision completely executive and anything but "internal", proving that you're an idiot.
Tell me again how Shitler wasn't briefed on this capitulation, taking time away from the last most crucial days of the campaign — to meet with executives that he will have no say in what their contracts specify unless he wins — when the candidate's time is so valuable that it is planned down to the second, and I'll tell you that only an idiot would believe anything so ludicrously naïve.
And finally, try and tell me that Blue Origin's contracts with the Federal government, or at least the prospect of them, had nothing to do with this decision, and the only way you or anyone can believe this wasn't quid pro quo would be if we are all complete and total idiots.
TL;DR: Jeff Bezos thinks we're all idiots.

How do you Americans find it normal that a newspaper endorses a candidate in the first place? Do you really think someone goes "I wanted to vote for the orange felon but now the WP endorsed Harris, I have seen the light!"? Imho it has no benefit and spoils the illusion of objectivity that we should demand from a newspaper.

^ Hi Jeff!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 29, 2024 3:05 AM |
The editorial opinion group is separate from the basic news editors on almost all US newspapers. It has been that way for perhaps 100 or more years. Some newspapers in addition to political opinion articles and opinion of the editor pieces will provide an opinion on the newspaper's endorsement on a political candidate, be it local, state or federal. It typically is based on the opinion of the overwhelming majority of the opinion group and management that is deduced from preceding opinion articles and they provide their reasoning. To have the owner or manager make a sudden decision to suspend the political endorsement after decades of doing so and after the endorsement has already been drafted is not normal. Bezos is now like Trump, basically saying whatever shit he feels like expecting the public to buy his garbage reasoning.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 29, 2024 3:10 AM |
72 hours later he realizes Kamala is going to win. It’s the only reason he wrote this. He refused to meet with WaPo’s editorial department. But today, suddenly, he speaks. Hmmmm…anything to do with the fact that Trump’s campaign has been imploding since Sunday?
I’m one of the 200k+ who unsubscribed.

R9, anyone who writes that kind of precise, overly-detailed explanation is not telling the truth. He’s saying something drafted by attorneys, something that might technically be accurate but is nonetheless misleading.

He can build all the muscle he wants, buy his hoe bigger tits and lips, and build the biggest yacht on the planet but everyone will know, and remember, when it came time to stand up like a man for the country that built him, Jeff Bezoz was a pussy.
No matter what he does in the future, he'll always be that guy who pussed out.
Keep getting your tailor to cut those shirts and trousers tighter, Jeffy! Take some more rocket rides. Drag that half dressed hoe wherever you go. Still a pussy.

I’m disappointed that apparently no amount of money can shrink pores…

He might be beyond caring about his skin if he's that rich. When was the last time he interacted with someone who wasn't a service worker or employee?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 29, 2024 5:43 AM |
I'm very sure that the former president is allowed to go on last minute meetings where the secret service hasn't had time to prepare the area, especially when there are two recent assassination attempts. And he didn't know before the meeting, but when did he release the statement rejecting an endorsement? After a closed door meeting where no one is recording what's said?
Bezos is a pig. A cowardly, pale pink pig.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 29, 2024 6:08 AM |
I would like to ask Mr. Bezos... just what did you buy this fucking paper for?!?
When he purchased it, I applauded it because he certainly was more sane than @Musk, and thought he would be a worthy thorn in the side of the fascists. But now he really seems to embody the pejorative, "Spineless". Disappointed... like a New England Father.
Then I watched Stephanie tonight on MSNBC and her interview of a former WashPo Editor. He warned that those 200K cancellations sent a message, but could also mean the end of the paper. He advised that that particular message has been heard, but everyone should re-subscribe.
But what about Amazon Prime? I already cancelled mine, and will be looking to enjoy NOT using Amazon any further. My advice/imploration: don't fuck the journalists over! Fuck Amazon and really punch Bezos in his REAL cunt bone!

Ian Bassin said the same thing earlier on Nicolle Wallace's show but I don't know about that -- canceling is the consumer's protest vote, and though you may not want to hurt the people who work at the paper (obviously that's no one's intention), it was Bezos's actions that caused that result, not yours.

[quote]“Presidential endorsements do nothing to tip the scales of an election,” Bezos, the billionaire Amazon founder, wrote. “No undecided voters in Pennsylvania are going to say, ‘I’m going with Newspaper A’s endorsement.’ None.
Self-serving total arrogance of a piece with the rest of his detailed bullshit. How does he know how endorsements land, or how undecided voters might be persuaded by a fair argument, in every single case?
If he really believes his own arrogance, no opinion piece would ever be published again in his neutered rag, because apparently no surviving readers are ever affected by any WaPo words.
To revert to the brilliant graphic of Katherine Graham placed next to Bezos with the captions: Balls - No Balls. For all Bezos's efforts now to convince the world he indeed owns testicles, he will forever be perceived as a eunuch. Good luck buying your way out of that embedded perception.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 29, 2024 8:26 AM |
Taylor Swift is tougher than Jeff Bezoz.
Dare I say, Tay has bigger balls than Jeff.
She stood up for Democracy and America against Autocracy when she could have sat out and made more money that way, but she didn't. She'll forever be a target of hateful conservative women and incel manbabies for that decision.
If Bezoz hadn't stopped WaPo from endorsing Harris, he took could have stood up to authoritarianism yet would never have carried the personal burden Swift will have to, for doing so.
But he still wimped out.
What a pathetic excuse for a man.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 29, 2024 12:02 PM |
His argument that newspapers shouldn’t endorse presidential candidates is perfectly reasonable and has been made by people for years. But you can't make that decision two weeks before an election and expect anyone to believe you’re doing it for principled reasons. That’s why subscribers are cancelling—the Post is owned by someone we can’t trust.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 29, 2024 12:20 PM |
R25 "He advised that that particular message has been heard, but everyone should re-subscribe. "
Nah, thanks. I'm good.
Democracy Dies In Darkness is so deliciously ironic for WaPo to have as a slogan.

[quote]Self-serving total arrogance of a piece with the rest of his detailed bullshit. How does he know how endorsements land, or how undecided voters might be persuaded by a fair argument, in every single case?
Same reason he REFUSES to stop fast-fashion/Chinese apparel/toy/curtain/towels/bedlinen manufacturers from dumping their mystery fabric shit that likely wouldn't pass the flammable test onto his site.
And before he eliminated entirely the option to delimit country of origin to US/Canada/Western Europe, he let China game the system by allowing them to drop-ship their products to locations inside the US/Western world so as to fool Americans about their provenance.
So it is virtually impossible to buy an actual 100% linen/cotton/natural fiber garment, scarf, bedsheets and towels--even when you *specify* "linen/cotton/silk/bamboo" in your search terminology.

by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 30, 2024 1:15 PM |
Bezos thinks Trump is likely to win. Otherwise he would not have taken so contorted a view. He wants to cover his ass and avoid the Enemies List.
Had he announced his policy at a distance from a volatile election, he might have been in a better position to argue some sort of neutrality/non-position, or even some compromise of leaving to editorial page contributors to pen their individual endorsements but not as an institutional position. By trying to avoid making enemies, he makes no friends.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 30, 2024 2:35 PM |
I don't think it's Trump Bezoz is afraid of.
I think it's Putin, Trump's boss.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 30, 2024 3:27 PM |
Why would Bezos be afraid of Putin over Trump, R45? Not that it isn't possible, but I'm curious to hear your reasoning.

They were calling Bezoz weak and scared on Deadline: Whitehouse a few minutes ago. Everyone must think he's a pussy if they're discussing what a beta move it was to not endorse, then pen that op-ed.
How delicious.

Unpopular, ugly geeks often spend their lives craving popularity and to be part of the cool kids. Those childhood scars can be eternal.
Bezos and Zuckerberg - with their laughable PED use and mixed-martial arts for the latter - and textbook examples of this. Enough FU money to live every dream and rest easy with confidence but still craving more and more and to be accepted by people far less fortunate than them.
Bezos with the blow-up whore is even more laughable, especially when he had a smart, savvy, attractive spouse who supported his endeavors from the beginning.
Pathetic, unevolved wimps who despite hundreds of billions, will never be happy with themselves.
