Extremely Racist ‘Comedian’ Speaks at Trump Rally, Calls Puerto Rico ‘Garbage’
Speaking at Trump’s rally in New York, Tony Hinchcliffe said Latinos “love making babies” and called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage”
Controversial comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made several racist comments about Latinos at former President Donald Trump’s rally on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“I welcome migrants to the United States of America with open arms. And by open arms I mean like this,” Hinchcliffe said, waving his hands “no,” then waving his hands forward to indicate that they should go away.
He continued: “It’s wild. And these Latinos, they love making babies, too, just know that. They do. They do. There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country.” He then cackled, adding: “Republicans are the party with a good sense of humor.” Hinchcliffe then called Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, “garbage.”

I am having a hard time understanding Latino and black support for republicans. They say it’s because they are better on the economy but that’s just ignorant. It’s not true.
And even if it was, which it is not, for all the negative stuff that republicans do towards blacks and Latinos, how could they possibly support them? They demonize them and exclude them at every turn. It seems so desperate and “pick me” to support republicans.
They don’t want you at their country clubs, or running their companies or marrying their daughters. They don’t want you.
But democrats do so much for immigrants and minorities. Show them some support in return. Send them some money and show up at the polls and show some gratitude and support. They have earned it.
Republicans want to deport LEGAL immigrants and they will find a way.

Americans really ARE stupid.
The economy was good under Trump because he was riding Obama's economy. In fact, it was Biden who was able to make the economy what Trump promised he would do (5% expansion--Trump didn't come anywhere near that).
When the economy started to slow, the GOP pushed the tax law, which was a huge tax cut for the rich. Economists predicted it would juice the economy for about a year--and it did. The recession officially started in February 2020. And then in March 202 came the pandemic closures. The pandemic totally masked that original recession.

R56 is an idiot, so don't listen to her. Here's the nuanced history of Puerto Rico.
Quoting from it: "In November 2020, Puerto Ricans voted in a non-binding referendum on statehood. About 53 percent of Puerto Ricans favored statehood, while 47 percent rejected it. However, only 55 percent of Puerto Ricans voted in the referendum. Statehood proponents viewed the results as proof that most Puerto Ricans want the territory to be admitted, but opponents questioned the validity of the votes as referendums are unbinding, often promoted solely by the pro-statehood party and include the opinions of only half of Puerto Ricans."

MAGA is already voting Trump. If they are MAGA and Latino, they are still voting for Trump.
However, not all Latinos who voted for Trump are MAGA.. Some may switch to Harris or stay home. I don't know how motivating a factor is for them. I think it's a slight negative.
As for Democrat and Independent Latinos, it could certainly motivate them to vote for Harris? A medium positive.
Others have noted the number of Puerto Ricans in the swing states. Again, if this election is going to be decided on the margins, this is a big fucking deal.
Just my two cents.

I think maybe a difference in insulting Puerto Rico as an island of garbage is that great many Puerto Ricans have been here a long time, have strong family ties there, and move between the mainland US and PR all the time and have a love of their island. With Mexican-Americans and the demonized migrants there’s a disdain for them as they’re poor and desperate and not already established here and are thus “the other”. They don’t want to be associated with them. I doubt it makes any difference in the PR vote though.

I'd like to shake the hand of the Puerto Rican kid in Queens who beat the shit out 12yo Donald for running his mouth back in 1958. It's probably the last consequence he ever faced and has never forgotten it.
Notice as an adult he never raped any Puerto Rican girls.
He knows that their husband/brother/fathers wouldn't let him get away with it like the beta white guys. "My favorite thing is to have sex with my friends wives"

[quote]What a lot of US Americans don’t realize is Latinos and Asians aren’t real groups. Just like women. They aren't like Jews and Blacks who are more culturally unified. Puerto Ricans get shit on by other Latino groups all the time.
What Americans who aren't minorities and haven't been in these situations don't understand is - yes you can have infighting when it comes to family matters. But as soon as someone else comes after you, you circle the wagons. This white man has no place poking fun at Puerto Ricans, because I KNOW he doesn't know the difference between Cuban, Dominican, Mexican and Puerto Rican. So he IS talking about all Latinos. That is the takeaway.

I spoke to my favorite aunt, who I absolutely adore last night, & she’s 100% against immigration, even though she legally immigrated here, & she is voting for Trump.
We somehow manage to discuss politics without ruining our relationship, however, I give her a break because she is horribly misinformed & she DOES allow me to point things out to her without becoming hostile or mean.
I’ve lost many in my family due to Trump madness, & I’m not willing to brush her aside because we disagree politically. She’s a good person when push comes to shove, & I love her very, very much, even though I am puzzled as to why she dislikes other Hispanic people who came to this country in order to seek a better life themselves, just as she did for herself & her children. I understand she’s been brainwashed, but I’ll never completely understand her profound dislike towards other Hispanic immigrants. It makes zero sense to me. 🤔

It’s called self loathing ingrained from childhood via abuse & trauma, and then the abused grow up to be the abusers in their generation, R148. Also, keep in mind that MANY immigrants are poorly educated and/or are taught racist propaganda from birth, along with skewed messaging, for example: they believe Fidel Castro was a socialist. People need to understand that immigrants from Latin American countries heavily influenced by Communism had or still do not have access to unbiased education & literature. They’re programmed from birth to believe shit that makes zero sense, and this is EXACTLY what the current GOP wants for many red states as well, hence book bans & misshapen curricula that is being falsely justified under an anti-trans agenda, when it’s REALLY an anti democracy agenda.

(New York Judge) Perlman called Lansky to a face-to-face meeting and asked him to direct Jewish gangsters to violently break up meetings of the German American Bund...
Perlman asked if Lansky had some boys who would want to punch Nazis. Lansky said he most definitely did, and he suggested that they could do more than just beat the Bund members up.
"I want you to do anything but kill them," Perlman warned the organized crime boss.
Lansky gave his boys license to use more than their fists. Baseball bats, clubs, and other street fighting paraphernalia were fair game. Guns were out of bounds...

Oh, and I convinced an undecided voter to vote for Kamala today. A guy I work with who lives in Florida. He said he hates them both and couldn't figure out who would do worse damage to the country. Instead of taking the Trump is a fascist/racist/dummy/lunatic, I made it personal. I said: "Well it's easy for me to answer that questions. I'm a woman and I'm a lesbian. And because of those things, my health and safety will be in dire jeopardy in Trump is elected."
I explained how Trump's abortion bans are not only preventing safe abortions but are denying women decent healthcare in 1/3 of all states. And his new administration already is planning to destabilize the security the gay community has found since the Obama Administration. I said I'm not telling you how to vote but I want you to know how I--and most of my friends--will be jeopardized by a Trump presidency. He said, without argument: "Thanks for helping me make my decision. I'm voting for Kamala and I'm going to ask my wife to do so as well."

[quote]Donald Trump has a serious Puerto Rico problem — in Pennsylvania. Many Puerto Rican voters in the state are furious about racist and demeaning comments delivered at a Trump rally. Some say their dismay is giving Kamala Harris a new opening to win over the state’s Latino voters, particularly nearly half a million Pennsylvanians of Puerto Rican descent.
[quote]Evidence of the backlash was immediate on Monday: A nonpartisan Puerto Rican group drafted a letter urging its members to oppose Trump on election day. Other Puerto Rican voters were lighting up WhatsApp chats with reactions to the vulgar display and raising it in morning conversations at their bodegas. Some are planning to protest Trump’s rally Tuesday in Allentown, a majority-Latino city with one of the largest Puerto Rican populations in the state.
[quote]And the arena Trump is speaking at is located in the middle of the city’s Puerto Rican neighborhood.

I've always disliked John Stewart.
Not only because I find his personality to be unappealing, but I also detected that his smug, self-referential "I'm funny" air to him wasn't to be trusted.
And that was before he reluctantly agreed to be interviewed by Rachel Maddow.
When Maddow finally wore him down after making her wait the requisite amount of time that satisfied his ego, his "both siderism" in that interview confirmed the rightness of my dislike of him.
And at that point I had watched enough of Maddow to recognize that she was disappointed and unpersuaded by his arguments for it, but she held back from criticizing him for it.
Stewart has his reasons for "both siderism". I just don't them persuasive.
As for Trump. We all know this.
Right now, he's deciding on whether to refuse to apologize to Puerto Ricans so as not to back-down in front of his Brown Shirt "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" White Supremacist moronic voters, or, thinking about all the Pennsylvanian Puerto Rican voters, try to salvage the massive fuck-up of an insult to them at his rally and apologize.
But one thing is certain, that POS Trump will not take personal for it if he decides to try to apologize.

There’s a significant perspective that Puerto Rico has faced systemic disadvantages, leading some to argue it was “set up to fail” due to a combination of historical, political, and economic factors largely outside its control. Since becoming a U.S. territory in 1898, Puerto Rico’s status has limited its autonomy, including its ability to manage its own economy fully and engage in trade independently. Federal policies, tax incentives, and the U.S. Congress’s control over its finances have shaped its economic landscape in ways that have sometimes hindered sustainable growth.
One example is the repeal of Section 936, a federal tax incentive that encouraged corporations to operate in Puerto Rico, which brought jobs and revenue to the island. When it was phased out in 2006, Puerto Rico’s economy faltered, triggering a decade-long recession. Moreover, as a territory, Puerto Rico lacks full representation in Congress, limiting its voice in decisions affecting its own future. Debt-related policies under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA), compounded by natural disasters, have further strained its economy. Thus, while not a deliberate setup for failure, Puerto Rico’s structural relationship with the U.S. has made economic stability a continual challenge.

Trump @ R291 says he "...Can't imagine it's a big deal..."
No need to imagine it, because the deep wide negative reaction is out there forever. Also, not imagining it's a big deal only displays Trump's internal normalisation of fascist racist contempt for the non-white Other.
Not being able to see it's 'a big deal' shows yet again how unfit to lead he is. But the fact that it's all anyone will ever remember from Trump's big egotistical fascist rally might help that inept imagination.
If it's not 'a big deal' there'd be no need for the predictable distancing as noted @ R275. Odd though that Trump let someone he didn't know speak at his huge showpiece race rally. Abject managerial skills all round for someone intending to run a country.

Trump said "Yeah, whatever" which led drunk manhandler and abusive drunk, Corey Lewandowski, to hire the comedian over LaCivita and Wiles' objections.
Internal, hacked emails showed Wiles has been exasperated by Lewandowski's machinations.

I don't know.
But I do know if Biden would have, in referring to Hinchcliffe's slurs, referred to Trump's voters in positive terms, it wouldn't have turned even one of them into a Harris voter.

One of RFK Jr's pet 'causes' involved Puerto Rico. The US Navy was using an island for target practice, and RFK Jr made a big issue of it and spent some time in jail on account of it. He was much more concerned about the danger to the island's ecology than he was about the residents.
