Justin Trudeau channels Trump, slashes immigration in Canada

We’re going to significantly reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada for the next two years. This is temporary — to pause our population growth and let our economy catch up.

We have to get the system working right for all Canadians.

Really? My nephew just got permission to move to Vancouver and work there. He has his family with him, too.

He’s not from the USA, tho.

by Anonymousreply 1October 27, 2024 8:50 PM

He's doing this in preparation for a, god forbid, Trump win here in the USA.

You silly Americans, stay on YOUR side of the border before WE build a wall.

No it's a response to his poor ratings and the current housing crisis. nothing to do with Trump.

by Anonymousreply 3October 27, 2024 9:31 PM

No, it's a response to people being enraged over his incompetent leadership, like letting in 1.4 million people last year alone, in the midst of a housing crisis and a collapsing healthcare system.

It also doesn't help that the majority of newcomers are from India, his favourite cosplay race alongside doing blackface.

But the moronic Canadian public voted him in 3 times, so we are getting what we asked for I suppose.

Also, a preemptive fuck you to OP. Hating on Trudeau doesn't equate Trumpism. Because I know what you're going to say.

Hi Pierre ( r4 ). Say 'Hi' to to Vlad.

by Anonymousreply 5October 27, 2024 11:59 PM

I thought "diversity is our strength" and "immigration is our superpower?" I guess the poll numbers came in and Canadians are sick of immigration.

Tim Horton's and Canadian Tire only hire Indians now. The universities have massively abused the system to make money off foreign students. And on and on.

Trump urged the Republican bloc to block the Immigration Bill in lockstep back in March to provide dirt cheap labor for his CEO buddies.

by Anonymousreply 8October 28, 2024 12:18 AM

^^^It was a crappy bill.

by Anonymousreply 9October 28, 2024 12:24 AM

NO, IT WAS A CRAPPY THING FOR TRUMP TO DO TO TAX PAYING BLUE COLLAR AMERICANS

by Anonymousreply 10October 28, 2024 12:39 AM

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is the one channelling Trump. Once Trudeau is gone after the next election, PP will show more and more of his Trumpian qualities and his numbers with Canadians will start to fall.

Same thing is happening all over Europe.

Thinking immigration is too high and that public services and housing supplies can’t match demand is not an extreme right wing position.

by Anonymousreply 12October 28, 2024 8:25 AM

No R10 rescinded all 92 restriction Trump had placed on the border crossing was fucking insane and is how Juh Biden and his failure Border Czar dissolved the border, we will ignore the 10s of thousands they actually flew in from abroad.
