Meh.
The Madonna fans on here will say it’s bad no matter what but this is definitely a hit.

How is it a hit, it's not catchy at all, the melody is way too awkward.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 25, 2024 5:53 AM |
It’s a no for me dawg.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 25, 2024 5:57 AM |
It was pretty stupid - a big nothing
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 25, 2024 6:05 AM |
It's awful.

Screaming for me baby like youre gonna dieeeeeee
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 25, 2024 7:26 AM |
i also thought it’s a mid. Was hoping for another great pop like Bad Romance/Poker Face. But it’s more like Stupid Love/Perfect Illusion level.

R7 Perfect Illusion is underrated. This song is hot garbage.

Grating chorus

It's funny how the previous song was supposed to be a hit and bombed too. Just like her Top Gun song.

R10 Doesn’t she have the number one song in the country right now, the duet with Bruno?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 25, 2024 1:28 PM |
R11, I know that song charted high, but that's my point, she cannot have a hit song by herself anymore. Rain on Me hit number one because of Ariana (and was a very forgettable song). Her Top Gun song tanked. So did the Harley Quinn song.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 25, 2024 1:51 PM |
The Bruno Mars one is also a hit because it sounds nothing like a Gaga song. It could be any female singer with Bruno
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 25, 2024 1:55 PM |
Good points. I always said Gaga stretched herself too thin with the theatrics too early in her career. She actually had a very short run music wise. It just doesn’t seem like it because she was so hide and also extended her popularity in film and television.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 25, 2024 1:57 PM |
So huge* not hide
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 25, 2024 1:58 PM |
That stupid sound she makes at 0:18 is the sound she makes when I shove her off a building, or when I wrap my hands around her neck to strangle her. Or better yet, a sample of Lina Morgana getting pushed off a building (by Gaga, or her father’s mafia connection)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 25, 2024 2:02 PM |
I saw through the theatrics immediately that first year she started out. The music was never there, and still isn't.

I loved the sound of The Fame/Fame Monster back in 2008 and 2009. I think a lot of The Fame sounds incredibly dated now. The Fame Monster sounds great still. Everything after that bores me.

Give the old gal a break. She has fibromyalgia, PTSD and migraines. It's a gift to the world when she even manages to get out of bed.

R19, as someone who is almost the same age as Gaga, I hate how millennials and Gen Z are always blaming everything on some kind of trauma. Gaga even blamed her decision to record that song "Do What You Want" with R Kelly on going through a rough time or something.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 25, 2024 3:36 PM |
What’s even more puzzling is that if Gaga really has been raped (multiple times, according to her) why would she think it’s a good idea to work with R. Kelly? Wouldn’t that be triggering? It seems like no one really questioned her on that. It’s just sort of swept under the carpet
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 25, 2024 3:41 PM |
R21, yes I found that incredibly stupid and bizarre on her part. She doesn't get attacked nearly as much as she should for that choice.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 25, 2024 3:46 PM |
R20 That shit was a bop. Though I agree with you. Just be real. She recorded the shit with him because she and the rest of the industry thought he was only a sometimes teen fucker who pissed on chicas not a 360 monster routinely raping and enslaving young girls. She should have just never commented.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 25, 2024 3:54 PM |
I don't hate it, but it sounds a little generic by her standards. She should go full on rock, like in "Electric Chapel."
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 25, 2024 5:10 PM |
I think it's good. Sounds like a hit to me.
Was looking at it as a little post Brat. Noted troll. and own worst enemy, Azealia Banks thinks it's great.

The songwriting isn't blowing me away. Still feels like a hit!
R Kelly was a bad choice for 'Do What U Want'. Not to defend it..a brief timeline: 'a controversial trial that ended with his acquittal in 2008 on all charges', the song is 2013, the documentary Surviving R Kelly is 2018. She almost rescued the track by swapping in Christina A.

The first time I listened, I thought it was good, not great. But I listened a few more times and now I love it. The chorus is catchy as hell with the ascending "ah-ah-ah-ah" throughout. It's very well produced and textured and the song actually builds - rare for a current pop song - as the second half of the song is so much more complex than the first half.
It's getting rave reviews so far. Though I don't think she really cares about charts or anything anymore as it's not very radio friendly. The Bruno duet is the biggest global Spotify song of the years. So she has a big hit either way.
Oh and of course you guys hate it! DL must hate all songs by Gaga. It's a rule.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 25, 2024 7:28 PM |
Eh.... I feel like (and, yes, I know this is a rather tired complaint, yet...) every song she releases is a knock off of something else. We know about the Madonna and Ace Of Base (a remake itself, I think) cases, and then "Stupid Love" clearly used "We Are Family" as a template. Now this new one... I can't help but sense some similarities to... dare I say it?... Madonna's (trashy) song "Back That Up To The Beat" or whatever it is called. It was like an unreleased demo that semi took off on social media in the last couple of years and could have been a single as a result. I have lost track of what a "single" even is, nowadays, with streaming, so forgive me.
