Will SMG be making an appearance?

So they made Reese’s southern debutante character a sista. 😂. I see you progress. I might check this out.

WTF!!!! ...Amazon promised me the Gellar role.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 25, 2024 2:38 AM |
I can't believe it's been almost 25 years since this came out - ugh. The first one was so good but now everyone's so moralistic and nun-like in high school, they have to make it at a college.
It's sad to see things you think of as relatively still recent get a remake.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 25, 2024 2:53 AM |
That's the most attractive actor they could find for Sebastian? Blech!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 25, 2024 3:04 AM |
NBC made a Cruel Intentions pilot years ago starring SMG. It ended up not getting picked up.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 25, 2024 3:12 AM |
R11 Good it would have been SVU meets Dawsons Creek. Network tv just cannot do shows like this well.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 25, 2024 3:15 AM |
They do them well.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 25, 2024 3:16 AM |
R10 - I was thinking the same thing - relatively ok/attractive face, but nothing special and ZERO body.
Actually - none of them are particularly attractive. That was one of the points of the film.
It's gonna be a flop - and it didn't need to be.

He couldn't act his way out of a wet paper condom but who the fuck cared.

Will Swoosie Kurtz be making an appearance?

R15 Fuck that is a perfect ass.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 25, 2024 5:28 AM |
The stakes are too low.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 25, 2024 5:47 AM |
Is Sean Patrick Thomas playing Ronald in this or a new character?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 25, 2024 6:17 AM |
I took you off the streets. - Christine Baranski
I’m from 59th and Park. - Sean Patrick Thomas
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 25, 2024 6:27 AM |
R15, that is the ass that launched a thousand gay fantasies.
Unless this film has an ass like that on display, I'm not interested in seeing it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 25, 2024 8:30 AM |
R21 this isn’t a film.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 25, 2024 12:48 PM |
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the forced diversity in the casting (Reese's character being played by a person of color). No one is buying that a Black girl would fall for that loser cosplaying as Ryan.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 25, 2024 5:19 PM |
R23 - yeah, black women have a built-in suspicion, they don't fall for shit too easily.
Not saying it can't happen, just saying naive and gullible are not the first words you would use to describe most young black American women. Particularly those in college.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 25, 2024 9:33 PM |
All black women are the same exact way r24???
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 25, 2024 9:59 PM |
You’re missing the point of DEI casting. The character is not necessarily a “Black girl” simply because the actress is Black.
For example, in Amazon’s Tolkien adaptation, people, hobbits and elves were all various races (mostly Black and white with an occasional token Asian) and nobody ever mentioned it. There was racial diversity in the cast that apparently had zero significance to the characters.

R26, that was still kind of unrealistic.
In Tolkien world, you would expect every population to be relatively homogenous because the populations have long histories in those geographic regions.
Is the Shire multiracial because different black hobbits immigrated where white hobbits were living?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 20, 2024 7:43 PM |
Zac Burgess, the actor failing to compare with Ryan Phillippe's hotness, is apparently Australian. How come they hired an Aussie for this role?

EVERYONE mentioned it. Where the fuck were you?!!

Burgess Meredith is the only Burgess who matters.

Half of Russia was activated to spam a (false) Tolkien quote under the very first teaser on YouTube the day it dropped, you absolute fucking dunce. It took two years in between seasons and a literal war for the bots to move on to other pastures.
And it wasn't just RoP, The Witcher received the exact same freakout when the show's casting was first announced. Then it died down, but has now flared up again after Cavill's departure, to try and blame this practice for the show's failure. Same with The Wheel of Time and I'm sure it'll be the same shortly with the new Harry Potter show. All fantasy worlds where anything goes, but a black fucking dwarf is too much for people to take.

Woke liberals sound insane blaming Russians for everything.
Well, everyone's seen how insane they really are after the election -- complete psychos!

Anyone watch it yet? The reviews are terrible and confirm my suspicions from the trailer.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 21, 2024 4:21 PM |
I hate to be mean to that actor...but Sebastian has to be sexy and seductive. Ryan was that. Whatever is the name of the guy they cast as the character in this show is not. How do you miss on something that obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 21, 2024 4:31 PM |
Indeed. Datalounge correctly called this out as a turkey from the beginning.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 22, 2024 8:12 AM |
I watched the first episode. Blech. The girl who plays Sarah Michelle Gellar's role looks like a dime store Bree Larson and acts like she's in the Drama Club's fall production. The guy playing Ryan's role has zero charisma and stupid hair. Most of the production looks cheap and feels tired.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 22, 2024 5:01 PM |
I also only saw the premiere and don't think I'll watch the rest because it's nothing I haven't seen before. Except maybe the strong/masc gay character, that was refreshing.
I just can't get over that butterfaced faggola being sold to us as this renowned lothario. He is however *much* better at acting than those thirty-somethings playing teenagers on CW, back when it still had scripted content. It's just that his looks and whole vibe are at odds with his character.
Thanks to the premiere, I have learned what a "clambake" is and that it's actually "brass tacks" and not "brass tax" as I had assumed my whole life. So points for that, I guess.
