I picked it up at an interview he gave last summer in PTown. He's a smart, charismatic guy.
I wasn't prepared for how vividly her described the pressure and fears of being gay in a conservative family and town. We develop so much internalized homophobia just by hearing what society says about us. He does a great job of bring readers into that world where you have a secret shame.
