“ A new up-and-coming class of Hollywood movers and shakers are among Entertainment Weekly's Breaking Big honorees at the 2024 SCAD Savannah Film Festival.
Austin Abrams (Wolfs, The Line), Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown, Top Gun: Maverick), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Grotesquerie), Ethan Herisse (Nickel Boys, When They See Us), Ebony Obsidian (The Six Triple Eight, Sistas), and Savannah Lee Smith (Cruel Intentions, Gossip Girl) will all join EW this year at the Savannah College of Art and Design's annual festival.
This year's SCAD film festival takes place Oct. 26-Nov. 2, and will also include dozens of screenings of recent and upcoming movie releases, including festival opener Blitz, starring Saoirse Ronan and directed by Steve McQueen; Cannes Jury Prize winner Emilia Pérez; Pamela Anderson's star turn in The Last Showgirl; Clint Eastwood's Juror #2; and the festival will close with Maria, Pablo Larrain's Maria Callas biopic starring Angelina Jolie.
Among the festival's many honorees is Jodie Comer, who will be presented with the Etoile Award. The actress, who won an Emmy for her performance as Villanelle on Killing Eve, most recently starred in Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders, based on a true story about a 1960s biker gang. Comer, who won a Tony in 2023 for Prima Facie, will discuss some of her complex roles, her journey in the entertainment industry, and her evolution as one of today’s most dynamic and celebrated actresses.“
