How can you create a television show that's based on a novel? James Clavell created Shogun. This guy just co-adapted it. Man, they love to overload television people with meaningless credits.

An adaptation is technically a creation, plus it's not like we have a word like "co-adapter".

Shōgun? ShōNASTY!

by Anonymousreply 7October 23, 2024 10:21 AM

Now that is one adorable man. He is, as my late grandfather would have said, "cute as a bicycle".

Shōgun's co-executive producer, Rachel Kondo, is his wife.

by Anonymousreply 9October 23, 2024 11:34 AM

Co-creator, she made the show with him.

by Anonymousreply 10October 23, 2024 11:40 AM

I this adaptation based on the original adaption which was, of course, adapted from the novel?

by Anonymousreply 11October 23, 2024 12:36 PM

R11 here, sorry for the typo. Is*

by Anonymousreply 12October 23, 2024 12:37 PM

r11 No, it's an adaptation of the novel. They're now going beyond the novel for the next two seasons.
