Los Angeles urges people to take mass transit to and from Dodger Stadium

Would you feel safe on this 25 minute walk?

People do indeed do it -- I was at that Chinatown station one day and saw an older couple in Dodger gear arrive. Some of the parts it goes through are rather sketch, but I'd me more freaked out trying to navigate the Dodger Stadium parking lot.

You’d be run over while still on Stadium Way—

by Anonymousreply 2October 23, 2024 1:59 AM

Why isn't there a station at the stadium?

by Anonymousreply 3October 23, 2024 2:01 AM

Sigh…

R4 Because LA public transportation has been designed by the most inept urban planners in the galaxy.

by Anonymousreply 5October 23, 2024 3:36 AM

R3 because of where it is located. Read a map.

by Anonymousreply 6October 23, 2024 5:14 AM

Last time I was there general parking at the far end of a massive parking lot was $50. DOLLARS!!

by Anonymousreply 7October 23, 2024 5:23 AM

R3 because of the odd location of Dodger Stadium in a series of low hills away from major thoroughfares

The choice of location is often considered one of the most shameful moments in the history of the city of Los Angeles

R3, because the city of Los Angeles has evolved to be car-centric, which explains our terrible sprawl and traffic problems.

I walked a good bit of that route about 3 years ago. It was COVID times, and I wanted to visit LA, from Palm Springs winter vacation without exposing myself to contagion, so I chose Elysian Park to explore. I was so surprised to see where the Stadium is, and indeed, I could easily envision that the neighborhoods closest to the stadium become utterly inaccessible on the day ball games are scheduled, for at least 5-6 hours.

Nobody walks in LA.

by Anonymousreply 11October 28, 2024 6:21 AM

I watched the video. I'm out of breath. No fank-yew.

You won't have to worry much longer - the over-rated and over-publicized Yankees, the biggest losers in baseball are down 3-0.

by Anonymousreply 13October 29, 2024 5:38 AM

Come on now. We all know LA teams are all capable of losing 3 and 4 in a row of name-any-sport. Patience...

by Anonymousreply 14October 29, 2024 6:47 AM

I would do it but a 25 minute walk is a lot for the old, very young, disabled…. Why don’t they get a bus or something to pick up and deliver from the station?

by Anonymousreply 15October 29, 2024 7:31 AM

It looked ok to me. I would have no problem doing the walk. It didn't look dangerous unless I missed something. It would be even less dangerous with a large group of people.

They might not need to bother after today.

I’d like a sweep but I’d also like for them to win in their home stadium with their fans.

I also saw that Fox might lose over 150 MILLION if there is a sweep.

by Anonymousreply 17October 29, 2024 3:44 PM

Looks like no one will have to worry about the trek to the stadium.

LA didn’t evolve into being car centric. It was forced on us in the 1940s by the developers and the oil and car industries

Uber, pay to park, or stay home. Plenty of options. Nothing about going to a game is inexpensive so if you want to complain about how much things costs once you get there, there is plenty.

I barely noticed anything this week other than the fireworks. Traffic seemed normal.
