When she told her housemates to "Shut up and go to sleep! I've got to be at work early in the morning!"? This was of course after Sophia farted in bed, Rose prayed out loud and Blanche told Rose to get her bunny slippers out of her butt. Thoughts?
Do you think Dorothy was being verbally abusive?

People really need to recognize the complex trauma Dorothy faced throughout her life and cut her some slack.
Her father was a loveable loser and her mother was a bitch who preferred the pretty sister, viewing her and the cross-dresser as more valuable and praiseworthy. Dorothy's only route to success and thereby pleasing her parents were her brains.
Then disaster struck. The good girl got knocked up by a tosspot who came in 2 minutes. The shame! The wrecked future!
38 years of being taken for granted coupled with lousy sex came next. Dorothy was still a powerful sexual being even post-menopause yet Stan denied her wifely privileges to his cock. She was spurned. She was frustrated, both in life and at a more basic sexual level.
Then she moves in with a slut and a moron, as well as providing sanctuary to her wizened old mother. All three proceed to wear out their bed springs while Dorothy often finds herself rejected or mocked. How might this feel?
Ultimately, Dorothy was a complex woman. While out of context some of her comments could be construed as insensitive, spiteful or abusive. However, we can see that, given Dorothy's history, what she most wanted was love, respect, cock and a little beauty sleep!

Beatrice Arthur was a LESBIAN and therefore played the character of Dorothy as a CRASS LESBIAN.

Dorothy was one of the most stern people ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in old age. At a time when gay people gathered round the radio at rapt attention, she could out bitch any of them but she never wondered why people scattered when she entered a room.

The Golden Girls had so, so many inconsistencies, but that episode takes the cake for having them occur within minutes. Blanche no sooner gets through saying her bed has never been so cold on a Saturday night when Dorothy says she has to go to work in the morning? Is she a substitute Sunday School teacher?

R9 no, Blanche lost track of her days because she'd spent the weekend the pharmacist who had proto-viagra. It was Sunday
