Really well-done. Glenn Frey was a hot smokin' piece of meat back in the day. Don Henley seems like a prim school marm!
Joe Walsh seems dim but nice.
Poor Randy Meisner did not age well. He had a fabulous voice.

Hipster straight guys are always sooooo proud of hating the Eagles and their music. I think it's jealousy, at least in part.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 21, 2024 1:45 AM |
As long as I don't have to hear a single note of any of their horrid songs.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 21, 2024 1:48 AM |
What documentary are you talking about? History of the Eagles, Parts 1 and 2?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 21, 2024 1:49 AM |
r4 yup
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 21, 2024 4:06 PM |
i love don henley
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 21, 2024 5:47 PM |
Glenn Frey was so HOT back in the day. Man.
Glenn and Don both sounded like fucking egomanical assholes-- especially Don.
I hate how the band did not riff or change up songs live. They play every song, the same way, just like the records.
Just a boring group of Boomers that now come across very overrated. I feel the same way about Fleetwood Mac- particularly Mick and Stevie- two assholes.. Although their music for me, is not overrated-
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 21, 2024 5:51 PM |
Don Henley is one of the biggest assholes to ever live.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 21, 2024 5:54 PM |
Because of this post, I purchased it. Recommend if you are a fan. Agree Henley and Glen Frye (sp) come across as huge assholes, Joe Walsh seems like a nice guy who was out of his mind on drugs, and that Don Meisner (sp) guy had bedroom eyes for days. Woof!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 21, 2024 7:11 PM |
^ I meant Don Felder, not Meisner.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 21, 2024 7:57 PM |
R10- Agree- about Don!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 21, 2024 7:58 PM |
TBH, I didn't see how Frey was an ass at all. He seemed pretty down-to-earth and relatable. Henley seemed like a stuck-up priss pot.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 21, 2024 10:35 PM |
I guess upon further reflection it was just that Frey was really playing up his alpha-male thing in the doc.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 21, 2024 10:44 PM |
Randy Meisner died a lonesome death.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 21, 2024 10:54 PM |
Glenn Frey was so fucking HOT back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 21, 2024 10:57 PM |
I never get tired of listening to Felder and Walsh's guitars at the end of Hotel California.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 21, 2024 11:00 PM |
Don Henley is such a humorless fuss budget.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 21, 2024 11:04 PM |
R7 They didn't change up the songs live because Henley was a micromanager.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 21, 2024 11:04 PM |
OK, I did see Parts 1 and 2, a while ago.
I'm also about 1/4th of the way through Don Felder's book, but I'm not expecting much. He had to take some parts out via his $ettlement with the Eagles. IMO, Don was probably the most attractive back then, but he's had some obvious plastic surgery and he got married to a young trophy wife.
Joe Walsh just seems kind of pitiful. A man who "needs" a job, is not very good with money, and who had to be forced to get sober (but at least he did get sober). That said, he seems like the nicest of the Eagles. On Howard Stern, he eviscerated Stevie Nicks' true love story about the two. His version, in a nutshell, was that it was a situational road pussy type of relationship (they were touring together) and Stevie did help him with his solo album. He said they were monogamous for an entire summer. (Wow!)
Joe is married to the sister of Ringo Starr's wife.
Both Don and Glen came off really bad. I can understand why they felt entitled to more money. They did seem like the most disciplined of the group. They had the business minds (the show must go on) when Randy Meisner was refusing to sing "Take it to the limit."
Glen said: "Do you think I want to sing Peaceful Easy Feeling every night?" That was hilarious, but Glen, that song is easy to sing compared to Take it to the Limit.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 21, 2024 11:08 PM |
Didn't Meisner damage his vocal cords from hitting all the high notes?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 21, 2024 11:16 PM |
Don Henley seemed like he was on trial during that documentary. He seemed as tho he was being deposed.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 21, 2024 11:18 PM |
Yup, he was so defensive. Not sure why he even took part in the documentary. I guess he and Glen knew that they wanted to get their side of the story out but didn't know how asshole-ish both would appear to be.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 21, 2024 11:32 PM |
frey at. least seemed to have a sense of humor, albeit an ego. henley was arrogant and also humorless. THE WORK!!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 21, 2024 11:52 PM |
apparently randy meisner was in some sort of horrible marriage where he was manipulated by a money grubbing second wife and alienated from his chldren.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 21, 2024 11:53 PM |
I love their music. I always have. They just have or had a sound I still love.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 21, 2024 11:58 PM |
Which ones did Stevie Nicks fuck? All of them?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 21, 2024 11:58 PM |
Joe Walsh and Don Henley, r26.

I know people who HATE The Eagles - hate them.
I loved them, early on - bought their On the Border album which I still enjoy, but man did they (Frey & Henley) become self-important before during and after Hotel California. Insufferalbe.
And then they coasted and coasted and coasted, remaining self-important.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 22, 2024 1:36 AM |
R26, Don Henley. She wasn't some where, either. It'd be easy to fall in love with him.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 22, 2024 1:38 AM |
I like the eerie Eagles like Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane but not so much the country Eagles.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 22, 2024 2:37 AM |
" whore" not where.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 22, 2024 3:01 AM |
I like their classic songs but they were never a huge favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 22, 2024 4:44 AM |
I'm a big Eagles fan, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I have all of their albums. "Their Greatest Hits" was one of the first albums I remember listening to as a kid. I've seen them live four, maybe five, times and I've seen Don Henley (solo) live probably the same number of times.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 22, 2024 5:05 AM |
Can't take them seriously after taking a residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Even Fleetwood Mac had the decency to call it a day when dear Christie McVie died.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 22, 2024 5:08 AM |
I really don't see anything wrong with doing a residency in Las Vegas, especially for these older rockers. Why the shame?
Don Henley has apparently begun lip syncing, though, which is not cool.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 22, 2024 5:16 AM |
You answered yourself, r37. It's not an Eagles concert. The original core members aren't all there and they can't produce the music they made. It's one thing to change a key, but lipsyncig at those prices? Just how much money do people need?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 22, 2024 5:20 AM |
The original core members haven't all been there since Bernie Leadon left the band in 1975.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 22, 2024 5:38 AM |
Hate, hate, hate The Eagles and love, love, love Linda Ronstadt. What did she see in them?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 22, 2024 5:39 AM |
Without Glen there is no Eagles.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 22, 2024 5:41 AM |
I didn't realize how much I liked the Eagles until I got my first iPod and started buying songs, one by one, from iTunes. I racked up a lot of Eagles and a lot of Tom Petty. Tom Petty was another one I didn't realize I liked so much.
Anyway, I like both eras of the Eagles, country and rock. My local library lends music CDs and I got the Eagles Greatest Hits and copied it to my computer. I've listened to "One of the Nights" countless times. It has a really good guitar solo in there (Don Felder). Don Henley doesn't have the most beautiful voice, but there's something about it. Maybe because I can sing along with most of his songs.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 22, 2024 5:46 AM |
Ditto Billy Joel, R2 (though I can see their point there).
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 22, 2024 6:15 AM |
Is this the same History Of The Eagles documentary?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 24, 2024 2:49 AM |
Glen Frey wound up doing a "standards" album like Linda did with Nelson Riddle. I hear several of his songs on a cable channel that plays Sinatra and Tony Bennett and Rosemary Clooney type of music. Frey's music fits right in with them. He has a very "croony" voice that actually fits the music. In fact, I prefer to hear Frey over the likes of Buble and Connick.
(Stevie also banged Mick Fleetwood.)
