This is limited to the white ones, but:
Jersey gay = a high % Italian (and some Portuguese in RI’s case), brash, funny, “basic” and kinda close with their families
Boston gay = educated, quirky, sarcastic, a high % grew up Catholic and are natives, and a high % of the others came for higher ed and stayed
