Lulu's "Shout"

Why did such a young singer sound like Dot Cotton after a fifth of grain alcohol?

It was so strange to hear this Lulu person constantly referenced on ABFAB, because absolutely no one in America knows who she was!

R1 Other than To Sir With Love.

Brenda Lee's voice had the same growly quality when she wanted to turn it on.

R1 I don't think Lulu was unknown to all Americans. She starred in "To Sir With Love" and sang the theme song to the James Bond movie "The Man With The Golden Gun."

Lulu didn't have the fame of the Beatles. I'll give you that. But she wasn't a nobody in the US.

Bitch stole my act!

Thankfully she had her awful teeth fixed before she did To Sir, with Love (1967)
