My husband went to college and acted with Jon-Erik Hexum at Michigan State, whom he knew as Jack Hexum. Unrecognizable to us now - pre-nose job, dental work and getting lean. As his death illustrated, Jack was not the brightest bulb although everyone thought he was a nice guy.

What a horribly written article. Why do they refer to him as "Jack" if he didn't go by that nickname?
I was a young gayling when he was around, and remember thinking he was the hottest man I'd ever seen. Funny how times and tastes change; now I think he's average looking.

Biomedical engineering requires some smarts. Case was one of the places where the field was invented and was a top school for it then. Michigan State was not. Minnesota was the other big Midwestern school for it. A friend of mine was the daughter of one of the field's pioneers. I suspect he had a little trouble with calculus and the like.
