I had a colonoscopy

When it was all over they said “We’ll see you in 10 years”.

I thought “The fuck you will”.

Did they leave a Mardi Gras king cake baby up in there?

Do you want cancer? It's a lot worse than a colonoscopy.

by Anonymousreply 2October 19, 2024 4:10 AM

Did they make you drink that shit? I'm old now and NOT GOING BACK!

by Anonymousreply 3October 19, 2024 5:09 AM

FFS!

FASCINATING

by Anonymousreply 6October 19, 2024 5:19 PM

What did you expect to hear?

by Anonymousreply 7October 19, 2024 5:31 PM

R2, the latest studies show that colonoscopies rarely prevent cancer. In fact, they can do more damage.

by Anonymousreply 8October 19, 2024 5:54 PM

^ Link, please. And not from RFK, Jr.

by Anonymousreply 9October 19, 2024 6:14 PM

No one says colonoscopies prevent cancer, Rose. But they can find the cancer so it can be treated early.

[quote] Did they make you drink that shit?

That was true of my first one, but not the last few.

Here's what the Colorectal Alliance puts out. The risks associated with colonoscopies are not as significant as the risk of escapting colon cancer detection if you don't have one. I respect everyone's right to limit medical treatment and choose death, and if you choose this option, it's perfectly fine.

R12 The “Colorectal Alliance” will be mistakenly shut down by Project 2025 for being Sodomites.

You didn't like the Versed and Demerol, OP!?

This thread is so hilarious

We hope it's not because they found a necrotic mass the size of a Cantaloupe past the first turn, OP.

by Anonymousreply 16October 19, 2024 8:33 PM

It’s such a drag

by Anonymousreply 17October 20, 2024 11:13 PM

Yes it is. No one would deny that it's unpleasant. However, it can save your life.

New study examines the effectiveness of colonoscopies

The study marks the first time colonoscopies have been compared head-to-head to no cancer screening in a randomized trial. The study found only meager benefits for the group of people invited to get the procedure: an 18% lower risk of getting colorectal cancer, and no significant reduction in the risk of cancer death.

hi, I'm Cologuard.

by Anonymousreply 20October 21, 2024 11:46 AM

Hell of a lot easier than cancer.

by Anonymousreply 21October 21, 2024 12:32 PM

Colonoscopy can identify colon cancer and also prevents it by removing polyps that may become malignant. Cologuard only screens for cancer and is NOT a substitute. Get the colonoscopy and follow the prevention guidelines (that the OP is too big a baby to do- perhaps).

by Anonymousreply 22October 21, 2024 12:43 PM

I had a full colonoscopy once and for some reason there was a nun there who held my hand throughout the entire procedure while we watched the internal footage on a big monitor, just like the beginning of Uncut Gems.

I said, “Sister, I’ve had bigger but never this deep.” She nodded and patted my hand.

Says CNN, R19? Really?

by Anonymousreply 24October 21, 2024 12:59 PM

The study CNN reports on doesn't even make sense. Moreover,

[quote]When the study authors restricted the results to the people who actually received colonoscopies -- about 12,000 out of the more than 28,000 who were invited to do so -- the procedure was found to be more effective. It reduced the risk of colorectal cancer by 31% and cut the risk of dying of that cancer by 50%.

Just one colonoscopy reduced the chances of getting colorectal cancer by 31% and the chances of dying from that cancer by 50%. That's huge and that's just from a one-off colonoscopy. Imagine the lives that would be saved if people had regular colonoscopies every five years.

I blocked r19, so their cuntery must be inherent. 🚫

by Anonymousreply 26October 21, 2024 1:51 PM

It saved my life.
