Ann Margret - Rain Champagne

I’m drunk and pretending I’m Ann Margret in Tommy. I’m singing into my champagne bottle and pretending it’s a microphone.

I’m sure some of you can understand.

She was so great in this movie. Brilliant casting. She also was great in Carnal Knowledge. I wonder why she didn’t have a bigger dramatic acting career. Seems like she was mostly treated as a joke.

She was soo good. I can’t picture another actress doing this.

This scene had a profound effect on me when I was 12 years old.

I don't know of many, if any, actresses who would have gone so fully all out the way AM did. She was amazing and so was her pal Tina Turner as the Acid Queen.

What a shit actress. Shit singer and shit dancer too. I cannot fathom that you might be serious.

Oh you, r5, always the negative Nellie. We can always count on you to be a sourpuss.

I was such a Who fan, I was so excited for the movie. I won tickets to the Boston premiere.

I hated it. I don't even remember this scene, which is weird because I love Ann-Margret.

Perhaps I took too many drugs.

She was quite good as Blanche in Streetcar.

You don't remember Ann Margret being blasted in the face with beans?

by Anonymousreply 11October 18, 2024 5:46 PM

R5 You must end a lot of conversations.

R13. Actually, it's Two-Time Academy Award Nominee Ann-Margret.

by Anonymousreply 15October 18, 2024 8:24 PM

The glass cut her hand when the TV screen breaks, but she kept on going.

by Anonymousreply 16October 18, 2024 8:44 PM

She lost the Oscar to Louise Fletcher for her mostly supporting role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

by Anonymousreply 17October 19, 2024 6:18 AM

Fletcher was perfect as Nurse Ratched. Bonus points for working with Jack Nicholson at that time and not cracking up laughing . When he won the Bafta Award for Chinatown he excepted from the set of Cuckoo's Nest which he was filming and said "As you can see, I've been institutionilzied." Gotta love him.
