by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 17, 2024 4:37 AM |
R71, of course. But no one else does, especially in LA where every light is full of Musk mobiles.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | October 17, 2024 4:41 AM |
Sure R72 - you obviously haven't.
Driving an automatic and stepping on the gas can happen immediately when the light changes.
Driving a stick shift means that the clutch is released simultaneously with the accelerator being depressed when the light changes, assuming that the driver has the shift engaged in first gear at the time (aka "riding the clutch"), otherwise the driver first shifts to first gear, then the clutch is released simultaneously with the accelerator being depressed. This can take a couple of seconds.
To do any of these out of order and too fast results in the vehicle stalling - that's the problem.
I've been driving stick shifts all my life, R72 - you should stick to your Tesla.

1. Bad customer service. Rarely when dealing with one individual, but when there are automated elements and it takes multiple attempts to address what’s probably a common problem (like getting my router reset). I become enraged just in anticipation. Completely out of proportion.
2 (And 1 is a subset of 2). When something is just wrong or done in a completely ass-backwards way for no logical reason and it affects me. But only when it’s for no reason. If it’s expensive to upgrade computer systems or a business is chronically a little understaffed because they can’t afford to be overstaffed when it’s slow, I get it. Doesn’t bother me at all.
But when I go into a doctor’s office and have to fill out a blurry PHOTOCOPIED form that was originally created in 1987 on a typewriter and has white space that’s about 1” x 1/16” where I’m supposed to write my address (which they should already have), it annoys me. That one doesn’t really enrage me because the impact on me is so infrequent and trivial but it’s a easy example of laziness and complacency from the business owner down to the person at the front desk.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | October 17, 2024 11:09 AM |
When people tell me I am not capable of doing something they have no idea about. Or assume. Probably based on gender, age or preconceptions. How do they know? I’ll do my damnest to prove you wrong, asshole. Also coworkers or leaders who mistake competence for “needing more work” - no! To make something look effortless takes effort; the trick is to make it look easy because you’ve got it dialed in.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 17, 2024 11:25 AM |
R84, that’s an interesting one. Why do you think that happens (not getting angry, that makes sense, but people telling you that you can’t do things)? I was told recently NOT to do something that would have improved processes at work and helped my colleagues, but I wasn’t told I was incapable. And I’ve been warned about doing things that might be risky or dangerous, but not in any way they implied I wasn’t competent. Can you give examples where people told you that you weren’t capable of do something?

I know when the wife is home. She walks with the grace of a gorilla, stomps, really, and she never sits down. She is very thin, average height, but the problem is she's German, they tend to be heavy footed, graceless and seem to have an odd relationship with their bodies. To assuage my rage, I pretend she is goose stepping in the apartment giving nazis salutes. It makes me laugh.

How do I know this?
As soon as they have speed walked in front of me, they stop short to text or answer their phone.

DEI. There’s a major difference between giving everyone an equal opportunity and hiring someone just because they are black/brown/whatever and using it for clout. These diversity hires invariably end up getting kicked out the door in appropriately 12-18 month’s time, highlighting the fact that it’s a huge load of BS.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | October 19, 2024 11:43 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 133 | October 19, 2024 11:45 PM |
As one who's worked in the corporate world for three decades, I can say that some DEI hires are totally over their heads in their roles in the company. As are some white guys who got their jobs through connections/nepotism.

by Anonymous | reply 135 | October 20, 2024 12:00 AM |
R135 That’s not at all what I said. Woke assholes like you always take it that way, however what I said is that many employers want to put black people in high level, highly visible positions so they can gloat about it in their diversity metrics. If that’s the sole reason for hiring someone, it won’t work. However, there are many highly competent black people in my company.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | October 20, 2024 12:13 AM |
R134 it can also be self-perpetuating. I recently had a contract at a company which got into a lot of regulatory trouble. The CEO resigned and was replaced by someone of middling ability (C-suite, possibly, but anywhere else not a chance of being a CEO) who happened to be female. This was the latest in a line of very public installments of women in CEO roles in this country to replace incompetent men when companies fucked up and it got into the press.
She has since hired four women for the C-suite with backgrounds in the Subcontinent who, in the past two years, have hired mostly women of the same background for their direct reports.
The end result is that the company meets its diversity KPIs while remaking the top tiers of the organisation with people of extremely varying capabilities.

I traveled to Egypt last year and I never felt unsafe. The people were kind and helpful. There were hustlers out there selling postcards etc. but no begging, and if you tell them to go away they will. Our guide told me Begging is not allowed in Muslim countries. People are supposed to help one another. I felt like I was in a movie set with the call to prayer happening several times through out the day. But things were very calm secure, and OMG the people work so hard. As we drove down roads going to Luxor or Giza seeing the smaller towns and residential areas, people were still using donkeys and bikes to deliver cane and produce and it was very eye opening. Cairo is crowded. 25 million people. And there are clusters of gigantic high rises that make NYC look quaint. We don't know how good we have it until we travel. Another culture totally. I would love to go back. There were four gays ,(two couples in my small group and no one ever made a comment or bothered us at all.

by Anonymous | reply 256 | October 23, 2024 4:58 AM |
R251 Shut up fatso!
by Anonymous | reply 257 | October 23, 2024 4:59 AM |
Too funny R256 and R257, that you both assumed that I was referring to bullying on the DL.
I wasn't - FYI there is a whole world out there beyond the dozen or so bickering queens on Datalounge, taking queeny potshots at each other while typing with two fingers on their mommie's spare keyboard.
Most people live in that real world.
So I will leave it to you both to bullying people who you will never meet or see. And leave it to you to reflect on why you think that online bullying is OK.
by Anonymous | reply 258 | October 23, 2024 5:24 AM |
White racism. It's evil and wrong and they know it.
by Anonymous | reply 259 | October 23, 2024 5:56 AM |
Wow, you read a lot into that statement, and ended up bullying as a result. I was mentioning it because I don't think people call out bullying here enough.
Thank you for demonstrating your capacity to be a real cunt. Anti-bullying indeed.
by Anonymous | reply 260 | October 23, 2024 6:01 AM |
Hypocritical posting history totally tracks for r251/r259. 🚫
Beware people who make big pronouncements like "I'm anti-bullying" usually reveal themselves as total frauds in the end.
by Anonymous | reply 261 | October 23, 2024 6:06 AM |
Beware idiots who don't actually check the posting history before mouthing off about it like R261

[quote]Bullying. It’s my hot button and I go out of my way to stop it when I see it.

The bully is you. Subcontinent? Women? So angry!
by Anonymous | reply 264 | October 23, 2024 8:49 AM |
Don't be fooled, by the way – this is racism and sexism parading as progressivism.
by Anonymous | reply 265 | October 23, 2024 8:49 AM |
The likeliest outcome of a Trump victory is nucelear war and the end of civilization. And I hesitate to say it because so many Americans would welcome that and they don't realize right-wing politics is the entire reason why death seems such an attractive alternative.
by Anonymous | reply 266 | October 23, 2024 2:06 PM |
Yep, R266. Evangelicals want out of this existence so they can move on to their "Heavenly Reward". Which is fine, but they should get on with going there without destroying America and the entire freaking world on their way out. They have no right choosing to destroy our country, our planet, for us as well.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | October 23, 2024 2:57 PM |
I cannot stand self-righteous, judgey people who attempt to impose their views on me and tell me why I am looking at things the "wrong" way.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | October 23, 2024 4:52 PM |
Zoom/Team meetings with more than 3 attendees. It's like getting to a 4-way Stop sign. Everyone starts, then stops, then starts again, then stops, ad nauseum. After all of that 'you go, no, you go' bullshit, the person who speaks can't remember what they were going to say.
by Anonymous | reply 269 | October 23, 2024 5:02 PM |
Yeah, the fucking up of the rainbow flag pisses me off, but what causes real rage is my partner and also computers.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | October 23, 2024 5:21 PM |
To R270, I fly the "original OG" Rainbow Flag!!
If my people don't like it, not my problem. I told 1 gentleman at meetings in Wash DC at the DNC" it's your flag, not mine, I only fly the OG Rainbow flag."

This reminds me that Boystown in Chicago is now technically North Halsted in order to be more "inclusive". Most people still just call it Boystown lol. Just like everybody in Chicago will never call it Willis Tower (it's the Sears Tower).
by Anonymous | reply 272 | October 23, 2024 6:51 PM |
Gay men are 99% of the Boystown population and patrons of the local businesses. And the only ones who can afford to live there. If some purple-haired nonbinary trans with a septum piercing doesn't like it being called "Boystown" they/them can fuck off.

Cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 275 | October 23, 2024 10:05 PM |
R273, I totally agree for you. It's going to be referred to as Boystown for the forseeable future.
by Anonymous | reply 276 | October 23, 2024 10:06 PM |
While we're on the gay thing, the hijacking of gay rights and rewriting history with Marsha P. Johnson/trans etc. It's such bullshit.
If trans women of color had actually been in charge of the gay rights movement, homosexuality would still be illegal.
by Anonymous | reply 277 | October 23, 2024 10:29 PM |
R277, what is disturbing is that so many people BELIEVE this lie. I see gay "influencers" post shit like this all the time about how gay men owe their existence to trans people. WTF!!!
by Anonymous | reply 278 | October 23, 2024 10:35 PM |

People who genuinely think race is the most important factor in everything.
People who don't have no understanding of politics and think (for instance) that the president can just come in and push any laws they want.
Progressives and MAGA turds suffering from the delusion that their viewpoints are representative of the average American.

R282 Does that mean that woke DEI people and people like that fatass Hannah Nikole Smith are racists?

Zoom meetings where one party or person really wants to meet. Then, you meet, and they don't turn their camera on.

Zoom meetings where I'm distracted by the one guy I want to fuck and have to hear everybody else's bullshit.

Goddamned motherfucking TRAFFIC! My God, why the FUCK can’t people fucking DRIVE? And where in the fuck are all of these mother fuckers COMING FROM? Get off the fucking roads if you can’t fucking drive, you stupid twats!
Those goddamn motherfucking automated phone trees when you’re trying to reach a credit card company, electric company or any big place. I end up just swearing at the fucking thing because it’s just circular bullshit so you never get to speak to a human.
That shit should be outlawed. Either fucking PAY SOMEONE to answer your goddamn phones or give up and go out of business, you pathetic, cheap ass cunts!

“ .: People who don't get racists are the ones who think race is the most important factor in everything. .. “
No. It’s exactly the opposite. Race should be the LEAST important factor, yet racists are the ones who obsess over it.
by Anonymous | reply 289 | October 24, 2024 1:37 PM |
Stupid cunts, starting with the bloody messes now posting here constantly, making the old-time Frauen seem quaint and harmless.
by Anonymous | reply 290 | October 24, 2024 1:39 PM |
Twitter fights. Especially if you give some of these younger people the slightest bit of conflicting information or alternate priorities. I learned the hard way! They're totally polarized and spiraled out on many current concerns. People will come out with insults and assumptions about how you are on nothing. Arguing on the internet is dumb in general for this reason. You know nothing about someone's perspective, history, real life experience related to a topic, what they're like in person, etc, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | October 24, 2024 2:30 PM |
People who underestimate me
by Anonymous | reply 292 | October 24, 2024 10:03 PM |

R293, the problem with being promoted is that you eventually reach the cirlce of trust, where you learn the chieef executives are shameless frauds and commit crimes on a daily basis. You don't want to be those people.
