In Canada, woman goes in for mastectomy surgery and is offered euthanasia
When she went in for follow up procedures, she was again offered offered euthanasia each time.
The number of Canadians opting for medically-assisted suicide jumped from around 1,000 to more than 13,000 yearly. Nearly 8% of all deaths in Quebec are the result of euthanasia. Across Canada it is now the 5th leading cause of death.

They [italic]offer[/italic] it? Like, hey, have you considered death instead of surgery? Just want you to know all your options before you make a decision.

I'd like it to be an option, as long as they don't make in mandatory. It's not even an option in most US states if you're terminally ill.

I know you can run into legal hassles if you don't go through the better agencies, but I've never had any problems with youth in Asia.
Au contraire!

She shouldn't whine about being offered something.

No I agree. I’m not at all against the option to exit this earth when you want. Aging can be brutal and expensive. It’s just the idea that the doctors bring it up as a possibility before you do that strikes me as a little odd.

I would LOVE to have it offered. The last thing I want to do is “fight cancer” at my age.

Do they make you pay for it? That just seems like a slap in the face.

Geez that’s insane. I think it’s ok if you’re looking for it but not offered unsolicited.

Justin Cunt Trudeau's Final Solution.
I've been telling you assholes that Canada has descended into a dystopian nightmare, and have been called a magat in return. Believe me now?

As Armando Iannucci once said: "With abortion at one end and euthanasia at the other, eventually the only people left on the planet will be thirty-four-year-olds."

At least she was "offered" suicide as a choice, we didn't have an option to live.

There's a huge difference between letting a patient know what their choices are, and "pushing" something on them.

If it’s not legal where you’re at, just buy a one-way ticket to Switzerland.

R23 Yes. This article and entire thread has conservative "moral panic" written all over it. "They're trying to kill our cancer patients!"

Will add that anytime the federal government tries to give citizens autonomy over their own bodies and health decisions, conservatives start fizzing at the mouth and bleeding out of their whatevers. I knew it wouldn't be long before the "they're executing infant babies!" variety of propaganda hit the world stage when it came to voluntary euthanasia (see R11).

It sends the wrong message that nobody wants you when you’re old and cancerous. I do think people are a little too involved with personal media these days. I know when I’ve been escorted by medical personnel to treatments, it’s been by dull eyed, cud chewing texters.

Is it that simple? I’m considering my options since I don’t think I will be able to afford care when I’m too old to live 100% on my own. Aging in America is really expensive.

I'd much rather they execute the adult babies.
