Rachel Maddow has Mark Cuban as her guest and he is wearing thick rimmed black glasses, Rachel is not wearing her glasses but if she was it would almost look like she was interviewing herself.
I'm not a huge fan of Rachel but her show has been excellent tonight, showing just how idiotic is is to support Trump because you support his economic/business policies.

Harris adviser David Plouffe: Most public polls are ‘horses‑‑‑’
David Plouffe, senior adviser to the Harris-Walz campaign, said most public polls are “hores‑‑‑” and discussed the campaign’s internal polling in a podcast interview released Sunday.
Plouffe, the manager of President Obama’s 2008 campaign, stressed how close the presidential race is and said polls showing either candidate winning by a significant margin should be dismissed.
“So I really can’t speak to the public polls. I spend very little time looking at them,” Plouffe said on “Pod Save America,” a podcast hosted by former Obama White House staffers. “I just don’t.”
“And most of them are horses‑‑‑,” he continued. “Some of them may be close, but, generally, I’d say any poll that shows Kamala Harris up 4 to 5 points in one of these seven states, ignore it. Any point that shows Donald Trump up like that, ignore it.”

Wasn't it odd that Rachel declined to mention Mark Cuban's name as a guest tonight in any of her promos? He didn't appear until about 30 minutes in and it wasn't until he appeared via zoom onscreen that she spoke his name. Or did I miss something?
She called him Mr. Cuban and he politely scoffed that off with a "Please call me Mark." She replied with a "Well, please call me Rachel." but he already was, lol

Kamala to be interviewed by Brett Baer on the Fox network, "viewed by many as more friendly to conservatives." Uh ya think, Fox is the fucking propaganda arm of the MAGA Right. I wish her the best, but even if she does well, they will twist it to their own purposes. And nefarious purposes they are.
I felt her session with Howard Stern was excellent - the full version available on YouTube - and an adequate offering for any gettable "conservative" who might still be questioning. She may be tempting fate with this, for little return.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 15, 2024 8:49 AM |
I trust their campaign, but I can't help but be nervous about this interview on Fox. The stakes are so high.

[quote]even if she does well, they will twist it to their own purposes
But they've been doing that with her appearances on The View and Howard Stern as well.
So given that, let them criticize what she says because appearing on Fox will at least give her bragging rights that she's doing this interview while Trump is too weak and feeble to appear on (say) MSNBC.

The Stern interview was good, and he has a large audience. But he also asked no difficult questions and is a big Dem supporter. She does need to do some “tougher” interviews, and Bret Baier is a good choice who will reach an audience that hasn’t heard her before.

It will probably be the first time many viewers even hear about it!

R19 I just wish she would go after Trump on tariffs. It's the core of his economic plan and he's either ignorant or deceptive on the topic. Baer wouldn't be expecting it, she could offer a simple explanation, with the challenge you don't believe me, look it up. Easy to fact-check, hard to deny, even for Fox. And it would royally piss-off Trump.

Lawrence is broadcasting from a VERY SHADY place tonight... Allow me to paraphrase:
"No one can explain why Donald Trump's favorite song to play at his rallies is the GAYEST song in existence"
Then he goes on to infer that Donald must have grown to love this song back in the 70's whilst he stood along the side of a dance floor watching people who KNOW how to dance really enjoy themselves.
(cut to video of Trump dancing, as how Bill Maher puts it, while jerking two guys off at the same time)

R34 One recent example of someone who should know better, but stupidly claims that Harris is not smart, comes from this episode of The Bullwark podcast. Tim Miller takes on one of the billionaire Silicon Valley VC bros who have flipped and become Trump supporters. He does an excellent job of refuting each of his claims. Oddly enough he doesn't even bother to address the suggestion that Kamala isn't smart but JD Vance is. Listen at your own risk.

She seems in great health now no coughing problems, I can't help but wonder if Putin was poisoning her in 2016, it isn't like he hasn't done that type of thing before. Chris Hayes watchers, this evening, I played it back but still not sure I heard him correctly. Going into this election the spotlight is on us more than ever, and it’s important for you to use your voice, so I’m encouraging everyone to get out and vote. I also think that people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution or what people will do if you make your opinion known. I think that VP Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld. From what it sounds like, I made the right decision to skip Alex Wagner tonight. I don't want to hear from thrown together panels of undecideds or people who are still on the fence and might potentially vote for Trump at this point. Don't care to hear any of it.

R125 Just look at their willingness to believe Trump's tariffs will be a great thing that will wipe out the deficit - while even the WSJ slams them as hugely inflationary.

[quote] Its interesting to see what language the cable networks allow and don't. Back in the "Grab 'em by the pussy" era, CNN played the Access Hollywood tape uncensored in the evening/night shows, not during the day. Never heard "pussy" on MSNBC, and prior to "fucking," the only typically uncensored I've heard there is "bullshit."
To her credit, I remember Ana Navarro being chastised for directly quoting “grab ‘em by the pussy” on a CNN show and clapping back at the other woman chastising her. Something along the lines of “I’M NOT saying this, HE IS!”
In that vein I have noted that 3 cable newswomen, Ana (of course), Nicolle and Erin B. all directly quoted our previous President’s comment. I was sad to see Lawrence chicken out at 10p tonight. And yes… NOONE needs to apologize for quoting him. HE owes the apology!

r120, booing is a finite act to the event.
Obama has turned booing into a call to action.
Got that?

Said it before and I'll say it again. If MSNBC is going to insist on interviewing these "undecided" and Dump voters and supporters, make them defend their choices with some facts and reasoning.
Of course, that could never happen. So DON'T interview them!
by Anonymous | reply 129 | October 23, 2024 1:38 PM |
MSNBC does these to put the FEAR OF STUPID in their viewers.
And they do it with non-confrontational Alex Wagner. The perfect bobble head to ask these questions.
The only thing that is amazing is that she does it without using the words thug or urban. Just like Ari.
Reverend Al needs to be asking, Nigga, why do you want to walk back to the plantation? Where do you get your news?

Ah so that’s why Kamala spoke to the press today. Joy Reid showed the cover of the NYT and the papers in the swing states and not a mention of the Kelly comments. The NYT did the interview and they didn’t even run it. The papers and the political sites are running BS about Trump’s “punchy” final message.
I hope Kamala brings it up at the town hall and then Barack and Michelle roast him on stage this weekend. MSNBC is practically centrist this cycle, crazy.

As for regular talking head Tim Miller, I know he's not liked here (either) but I'd love to top him. Rip that shirt open and rip his peals off from around his neck. He's sexy to me, too.

My take on this is that Obama probably feels it necessary to not encourage "impolite" behavior from his audience (no matter how justified), particularly given the (rightful) criticism that Dump received from the left for not stopping the MAGA morons from chanting "Lock her up!" about Hillary Clinton.
Fair or not (and it isn't), Democrats always have to take the higher road even when the lower one is more than warranted.

Harris's closing argument at the Ellipse is permitted for 7500. You know Trump is going to piss on that, and tout his 01/06 crowd size. I'm wondering if they can even get that many on a Tuesday with short notice. Maybe. Either way, it's kind of another ballsy move on her part.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | October 25, 2024 6:34 AM |
President Obama is not attempting to placate the attendees, he is merely reminding them that "actions speak louder than words." Don't waste energy booing; put it to better use volunteering, donating and voting.
He is the surrogate, not the candidate, and is more politically astute than to patronize Vice President Harris' followers by seeming to parent their behavior, as suggested upthread.
"Don't Boo. Vote!" is a mutually calculated call-and-response.

I don't remember which recent rally it was but people started Booing and instead of his " Don't Boo, Vote" he said in a rather stern fatherly tone, "I am going to break you of doing that" that was when I posted wondering why Obama has such a problem with Booing.

Leland Hayward was one! And Averell Harriman (duh!) was another. And was there a Churchill or a Roosevelt somewhere in the mix?
by Anonymous | reply 239 | October 31, 2024 3:27 AM |
Definitely a Churchill. Winston’s son. There’s a new bio that I want to read. When I have more time once this election is over.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | October 31, 2024 3:32 AM |
That bitch Pam’s husbands-
Randolph Churchill (she fucked Averell Harriman behind his back)
Leland Hayward (she stole him from Slim Keith, and his stepdaughter wrote “Haywire” to reveal what an evil bitch she was)
Averell Harriman (married a month after his wife died)
She also fucked Gianni Agnelli (who set her up with a fabulous Paris apartment) and Aristotle Onassis. After Onassis died and Jackie was fighting with Christina over the estate, she said, “Jackie should have known better. Greeks never share their money.”
She used Averell’s money to set up PACs to support Democrats in the 80s, including Bill Clinton, who made her Ambassador to France. In France she had a young lover, and fought her Harriman stepdaughters over the family fortune she squandered on bad investments.
She died in the swimming pool of the Ritz in Paris.
Colorful life, but keep your husband away from her.

R243 Love how she stakes out ownership of her corner of the desk, then catches herself, then continues using it. Don't think I've ever seen a guest do that. Comes with the job I guess,

Molly Jong-Fast’s makeover is impressive. She may no longer look like a Methadone Clinic client, but she still looks like a corpse. Much has been said about the low quality make up people @ MSNBC, but I’d like to add the lighting folks. C’mon, you a re NATIONAL tv network. This is the best you can do?

I want to bear Andrew Ross Sorkin’s children. Hubba hubba.
by Anonymous | reply 247 | October 31, 2024 7:50 AM |
I agree Sorkin is attractive, but he's a little too pretty for me.
Could mean he is an animal in bed. His wife is much more flashy than one would expect.
Anyway, that discussion yesterday with Nicolle, Andrew, and Stephanie was excellent. I wish there would be more of that type of "round table." You can learn so much just listening to all sides of the argument, and learn what they REALLY think.
by Anonymous | reply 248 | October 31, 2024 2:10 PM |
Stephanie Ruhle loved that discussion so much she replayed it on her show later that night.
by Anonymous | reply 249 | October 31, 2024 2:52 PM |
R246. Molly has done well with her make over. She still looks wild, but toned down enough for a regular on MSNBC, and of course she is smarter than most everyone else. Andrew Ross Sorkin is dreamy, and he's a bigger guy than I used to think and clearly hits the gym. Joi occasionally has had some really bad makeup efforts, but lately those have faded away. I'm glad she doesn't try the half bald with a braid topper look she was doing for a while. Keep it simple. Nicolle needs a haircut. She's too old for that long hair look that is so popular. Though she did catch a new husband with it. (Shades of Joe and Micka!) And he's ten years younger, too.
by Anonymous | reply 250 | October 31, 2024 3:05 PM |
r250, have you seen photos/video of Nicolle with shorter hair prior to her time at MSNBC? She has a big head and a long skinny neck, bit of a bobble head effect. I don't think she'll be cutting her hair, probably her best asset, anytime soon.
I love Joy's simple short blonde Afro. But I wish she'd still tone down her makeup and wardrobe. It's distracting and she's too smart for distractions.
I wonder if Andrew Ross Sorkin has ever done a tinted contact lens in one of his eyes. I find the difference in his eyes scary.
Molly Jong Fast - is there something weird about her hands and fingers? I can't stop focusing on them when she's talking.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | October 31, 2024 3:14 PM |
How bad is Cecille Richards' cancer? Tuesday morning she was on MJ with Mika handling the interview, and she sounded so unlike herself. I thought she'd had a stroke or Parkinsons. I couldn't see her since I was on my SiriusXM app, and I was getting my old Dad ready for a doctor's appointment so I hadn't time to turn on the TV. Did a quick lookup and saw she has cancer.
I absolutely love her like I adored her mother, and I so hope she recovers 100%.

Nicolle is such a patronizing, laughing fool, Rosie Perez, and no "friend" as you well know. I don't blame you for using her show to get your message out, just sorry that you have to tolerate her presence.
How is she incredulous at the Puerto Ricans' not being numb, but lashing out, at the negative comments about them? And to actually ask why?
Poor Mike Schmidt.

Comcast which owns MSNBC is considering spinning off its cable broadcast business, which means that NBC News would no longer be affiliated with MSNBC
[quote] A big one for Comcast’s plan involves CNBC and MSNBC. While CNBC has historically been run as its own news organization, completely separated from NBC News, MSNBC has long leaned on NBC reporting a a complement to its opinion shows.
[quote] If the spinoff goes through, MSNBC may need to build out its own news organization, cut some sort of deal to continue using NBC News resources, or abandon newsgathering altogether to focus on opinion.

I wish I could share the above enthusiasm for Steve Schmidt. I was once a huge fan! He's a brilliant speaker, much of what he has previously spoken (and is probably saying now) is accurate, important, and should be heard!
But he's a fucking grifter! Almost as bad as Trump himself. It's why we haven't seen him in awhile, (so I'm wondering why we're seeing him now).
Too tired to google links at the moment, but, for starters, he took a substantial amount of Lincoln Project funding - and instead of putting it towards Democrat Candidates in 2020 and 2022 - candidates who could now be serving in The Senate and Congress had they not lost by a slim amount - he used donation funds towards his own $4 million dollar estate in Utah.
Showtime did a documentary about The Lincoln Project and it's founders. A documentary that Schmidt himself first heavily promoted, then became suddenly quiet about when he viewed it in its entirety.

To my knowledge, David Jolly is the only one that has. And while I enjoy listening and learning from people like Michael Steel, Sarah Longwell,, and Tim Miller, I fear they will go right back to their old ways once the stench has lifted. If it ever does.

I really like all the hosts on MSNBC covering this election tonight - a really informative evening. However, I must say - Michael Steele, by far, is the most intelligent and most informative. This guy knows his stuff inside and out. And he explains things very clearly and concisely. I hope they make a lot of use of him over the next two days and nights.

Meanwhile on the Faux News Network they had a guy in the field at a Trump rally in a small wedding tent and some local restaurant. That dude was not just talking to the crowd he was actively cheer leading them, pumping his hands in the air like he was a star at a rock concert, at and got them shouting Trump, Trump, Trump. Of course he was black and he interviewed the only 2 other black people in the entire room out of maybe 100. Faux diversity.
The only thing that concerned me is he asked how many have voted by mail already and I would say it was close to 90%. So this early turnout of voters might be a lot more Trumpier than what we thought.
by Anonymous | reply 370 | November 4, 2024 12:39 PM |
R370, there's been commentary about how the Republicans are now turning out for early voting in numbers closer to those of Democrats than in 2020—Trump has stopped discouraging early voting. Depending on the area, this might just mean that the Republicans are "cannibalizing" their vote, i.e. that then there are fewer Republicans left to vote on Election Day. I don't think it's likely that Democrats are turning out early in lower numbers. In PA the early vote returns have registered Democrats almost 400k ahead of Republicans, which means that—combined with the likely D vote among independents—the Democrats already have a cushion of roughly half a million or more. Fingers crossed!

Nancy Pelosi, more than anyone, understands that she can be divisive. So, staying out of the picture once Kamala and Tim (make no mistake, she was involved in that choice) were in place, was yet another wise decision on her part.

“I think the new album is a... what do you call it? A collaboration... and a wonderful mix of a lot of people’s talents. And certainly Quincy Jones’s expertise and... I mean, I love that man. And at a time when I was pregnant and feeling very insecure perhaps, and very nonmusical, very unproductive, I mean just pregnant. When you have to be professional, and musical, and be creative, and you just want to ... all you want to create are baby clothes. You know, you want to paint the room, and you want to do this and you don’t really want to get into music. It can be very hard. And I find that... I found that Quincy was a disciplinarian in a time when he really needed to be for me. And I think that really helped me to get through the album. And thank God for that.”
