Body parts in freezer identified as girl missing since 2005

In January, according to a neighbor, the new owners of the Grand Junction house held a garage sale to get rid of things that the previous owners had left behind. Among those items they were looking to sell was a deep freezer.

The neighbor said some people showed up to buy the freezer and when they opened it up to remove the meat, a human head fell out of a plastic bag.

What a confusingly-written article. She's been missing since 2005 but she was never reported missing? Huh?

by Anonymousreply 1October 13, 2024 7:45 AM

She hasn't been seen or heard from since 2005. Her mother and step-father never filed a missing persons report. Her friends have been searching for her but since they're not family members the police wouldn't take a report. Stepdad died in 2021 and mom sold the house including the freezer and skipped town.

by Anonymousreply 2October 13, 2024 7:50 AM

[quote] She hasn't been seen or heard from since 2005. Her mother and step-father never filed a missing persons report.

Isn't that kind of suspicious that her own parents wouldn't report a minor as missing?

by Anonymousreply 3October 13, 2024 7:52 AM

Meh, things like this happen sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 4October 13, 2024 7:53 AM

They killed her. I read in another article that the mom told people Amanda had moved to another state and changed her name.

by Anonymousreply 5October 13, 2024 7:54 AM

Patsy, care to weigh in?

by Anonymousreply 6October 13, 2024 7:57 AM

Atta, girl. We Colorado moms get things done.

by Anonymousreply 7October 13, 2024 7:58 AM

Sounds to me like the parents just accidentally froze their daughter and forgot about it.

by Anonymousreply 8October 13, 2024 7:58 AM

^They sent her into the basement for some Klondike Bars and she just never returned...

by Anonymousreply 9October 13, 2024 8:01 AM

Bet the stepdad was diddling her, mom found out and blamed her daughter for "tempting her man", stepdad killed the abused kid, they cut her up together and tossed her in the deep freezer.

by Anonymousreply 10October 13, 2024 8:04 AM

Oh my God!!

by Anonymousreply 11October 13, 2024 8:16 AM

So the mother is out there, somewhere,?

by Anonymousreply 12October 13, 2024 8:25 AM

Bio mom on the lam.

Deranged and disgusting to think that the mother and stepdad were living their lives in this house with the daughter’s severed head and hands in their garage freezer for almost two decades. I cannot fathom it. It’s also insane that the mother would sell the house and leave it behind to be discovered by the new owners. I hope the police are able to track down this sick cunt and lock her away.

by Anonymousreply 14October 13, 2024 8:54 AM

R14 where does it say when the new owners bought this house with the macabre deep freezer? Maybe they are the ones who lived 10-20 years with the unknown surprise. At the very least, they paid to run that machine all the time they lived in the house and never thought to empty it?

by Anonymousreply 15October 13, 2024 9:05 AM

There’s a lot to unpack here

by Anonymousreply 16October 13, 2024 9:05 AM

I can imagine the mom doing her daily errands, driving, sipping her Starbucks coffee - then her eyes bugging out after remembering she left her daughter’s head in the freezer she just gave away. Like she left the stove on or something. She probably merged onto the interstate and kept driving south to the border.

by Anonymousreply 17October 13, 2024 9:10 AM

Fred and Rosemary West infamous UK serial killers buried their daughter Heather in the garden and Fred built a patio over her. They would scold the other kids saying, "smarten up or you'll end up like Heather".

by Anonymousreply 18October 13, 2024 9:12 AM

R16 and a lot to defrost.

by Anonymousreply 19October 13, 2024 9:29 AM

Oops. Would you mind mailing that back to me?

by Anonymousreply 20October 13, 2024 10:08 AM

How can a house that has been “completely remodeled” still have a freezer with a body in it?

by Anonymousreply 21October 13, 2024 12:03 PM

People just don't completely remodel like they used to.

by Anonymousreply 22October 13, 2024 12:09 PM

There are a lot of fun and beautiful Halloween crafts you can make at home with a frozen head

by Anonymousreply 23October 13, 2024 12:19 PM

Do you think they still used the freezer all that time? Like every night they'd go to grab a frozen dinner and say hello to their daughter's head?

by Anonymousreply 24October 13, 2024 12:30 PM

Martha - do I need to thaw it first?

by Anonymousreply 25October 13, 2024 12:35 PM

Like a lot of things that accumulate in a garage or basement, they forgot probably the freezer was there and piled stuff on top of it and around it.

by Anonymousreply 26October 13, 2024 1:08 PM

You should always wrap food with aluminum foil to avoid freezer burn. Never plastic bags

by Anonymousreply 27October 13, 2024 1:22 PM

This is no longer a cold case.

by Anonymousreply 28October 13, 2024 1:34 PM

[quote]they forgot probably the freezer was there

In the twenty-first century, is it possible to "forget" that you have a freezer with a severed head and arms (hands attached)?

by Anonymousreply 29October 13, 2024 1:41 PM

Does anyone else have a recurring dream that they’ve left a body somewhere like a closet and it’s gonna be discovered?

by Anonymousreply 30October 13, 2024 2:30 PM

When pressed by the police, the mother described the relationship with her daughter as frosty. But friends closer to the family said the mother often described her daughter as a stone cold bitch.

by Anonymousreply 31October 13, 2024 2:52 PM

I feel guilty for laughing at r31's post.

by Anonymousreply 32October 13, 2024 2:56 PM

Wouldn’t a welfare check resolved this a lot earlier? Maybe you don’t need to provide evidence the person is ok

by Anonymousreply 33October 13, 2024 2:59 PM

stone cold cadaver

by Anonymousreply 34October 13, 2024 3:08 PM

R29: They murdered and dismembered here. I doubt that that guilt is a major emotional force their lives.

by Anonymousreply 35October 13, 2024 3:11 PM

It is a bit surprising, but this is far from the only case in which homeowners left behind stored evidence of a murder.

by Anonymousreply 36October 13, 2024 3:15 PM

Nobody noticed her absence? Her teachers, friends, neighbors... What was their cover story?

by Anonymousreply 37October 13, 2024 3:53 PM

People did notice but if the parents don't care and the cops won't investigate what else can they do?

by Anonymousreply 38October 13, 2024 3:56 PM

They didn't investigate because she was never reported missing by anyone.

by Anonymousreply 39October 13, 2024 3:57 PM

Because the cops would only file a report if a family member requested it. But her family members were the ones who killed her so that obviously wasn't going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 40October 13, 2024 3:59 PM

You cannot convince me there isnt a portal to hell in Colorado. Way too much weird evil shit happens there.

by Anonymousreply 41October 13, 2024 4:01 PM

Superior staging on the part of the real estate agent. Two thumbs up!

by Anonymousreply 42October 13, 2024 4:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 44October 13, 2024 5:00 PM

The weird part is that in 19 years they never disposed of the body. Makes me think this wasn't the result of an accident but something very sick and twisted.

by Anonymousreply 45October 13, 2024 5:01 PM

[quote]Fred and Rosemary West infamous UK serial killers buried their daughter Heather in the garden and Fred built a patio over her. They would scold the other kids saying, "smarten up or you'll end up like Heather".

They should've planted heather with a sign stating what it was. Talk about hiding in plain sight.

by Anonymousreply 46October 13, 2024 5:03 PM

R45. It’s not without precedent. There was a Nee Jersey businessman who kept his mistress’s body in a barrel in his basement for 50 years. He left it there when he moved. The new owners obviously didn’t want a barrel cluttering the basement and quickly discovered the body. The killer committed suicide to avoid prosecution.

There are several cases of women keeping dead babies in freezers for several years at least. Véronique Coujault is one example, but there are several others.

by Anonymousreply 47October 13, 2024 5:09 PM

What the hell is going in in this thread? Some of the comments here are srsly fucking moronic. Did a bunch of ditzy Fraus stumble upon DL for the first time because of the publicity this story is getting?

[quote]The weird part is that in 19 years they never disposed of the body. Makes me think this wasn't the result of an accident but something very sick and twisted.

How does one's severed head and hands "accidentally" end up in a deep freezer?

[quote]Isn't that kind of suspicious that her own parents wouldn't report a minor as missing?

I think you're onto something, Columbo!

by Anonymousreply 48October 13, 2024 5:42 PM

R48, you're calling out others, but you're being pretty dumb yourself. I obviously was referring to her death when I used accident. Chopping her up and putting her in a freezer was of course not accidental. JFC.

by Anonymousreply 49October 13, 2024 5:48 PM

A girl in the freezer? Ewwwwww….

by Anonymousreply 50October 13, 2024 5:52 PM

Wait - so the girl didn't go to school? Dropped out? How does a 16 year old disappear and no notice? No investigation?

by Anonymousreply 51October 13, 2024 5:55 PM

Well lest we forget, our community's own Dorian Corey had a mummified body, wrapped in saran wrap, in a trunk in her closet for decades until it was discovered upon her death in 1993.

by Anonymousreply 52October 13, 2024 6:06 PM

I don't think enforcing the truancy laws is much of a thing in Colorado. Most people in a mountain town probably don't understand the value of education anyway.

by Anonymousreply 53October 13, 2024 6:07 PM

Sometimes small foreign factions are very active

by Anonymousreply 54October 13, 2024 6:08 PM

Freezer? JHC , Helen I thought you were going to take care of the freezer. Did you leave a forwarding address?

by Anonymousreply 55October 13, 2024 6:10 PM

Will an average head fit in an Instant Pot? Thinking Thanksgiving ideas, here. . .

by Anonymousreply 56October 13, 2024 6:14 PM

R56, you can add a decorate touch and fill the head with raisins and rice pilaf!

Daughter’s corpse in a basement freezer is more McDonald’s coffee than Starbucks. Maybe Dunkin.

by Anonymousreply 59October 13, 2024 6:40 PM

She never got to see an iPhone.

by Anonymousreply 60October 13, 2024 7:12 PM

[quote] They didn't investigate because she was never reported missing by anyone with legal standing.

Seems like a teacher, who would be a mandated reporter, could have reported the child missing.

They almost got away with murdering their own daughter.

by Anonymousreply 62October 13, 2024 7:37 PM

I believe in most states R62, people can drop out of high school at 16. At least That is the way it used to be.

by Anonymousreply 63October 13, 2024 8:01 PM

Thanks, R63, didn't realize she was 16+.

by Anonymousreply 64October 13, 2024 8:04 PM

[Quote] They almost got away with murdering their own daughter.

Hr actually did.

I assume he killed her. Of course who knows? But I wouldn’t be surprised if her subconscious was at play here, leaving the body there because she subconsciously wanted it to be found.

by Anonymousreply 65October 13, 2024 8:29 PM

I'm sure it was just an accident.

by Anonymousreply 66October 13, 2024 8:51 PM

Yes, an accident, just like Madeilyn McCann.

by Anonymousreply 67October 13, 2024 9:08 PM

Amanda was raised by her grandma until about two years before her death. She was sent to live with her step mom and dad after that. The couple were hoarders. The step dad died in 2021. The house was foreclosed on so the mother was evicted. It seems some friends tried to report her missing but couldn’t.

by Anonymousreply 68October 14, 2024 12:14 AM

Did they charge extra for the body parts, or was it considering part of the sale price for the freezer?

by Anonymousreply 69October 14, 2024 1:04 AM

Did they leave it plugged in during the garage sale? THey must have.

by Anonymousreply 70October 14, 2024 3:01 AM

Don't tell me things like this, OP. I'm sensitive.

by Anonymousreply 71October 14, 2024 3:04 AM

Is this on bad real-estate photos, r42?

by Anonymousreply 72October 14, 2024 6:47 PM

Did they forget they had body parts in the freezer when they sold the house? And who buys a house without inspecting everything? They just assumed they got a free freezer full of frozen foods with the house? WTF?

Hmm, I know I'm forgetting something.....What could it be????

by Anonymousreply 73October 14, 2024 6:54 PM

The new buyers wanted to flip the house. They were trying to sell the contents asap.

by Anonymousreply 78October 14, 2024 11:10 PM

I doubt the Mother knew.

by Anonymousreply 79October 14, 2024 11:18 PM

Was this an upright freezer or a chest freezer? Also what brand?

by Anonymousreply 80October 14, 2024 11:30 PM

Can you boil down the head and make a nice broth? I'll have to try this.

by Anonymousreply 81October 14, 2024 11:39 PM

They probably just told the school she was being homeschooled. And told her friends that, too. Homeschooled kids back then were freaks so that her dropping all of her public school and childhood friends after starting homeschooling would seem more "acceptable" than telling everyone she ran away, while would necessitate at least one call to law enforcement.

by Anonymousreply 82October 15, 2024 12:00 AM

R81 yes you can make a flavorful stock. You just have to make sure to remove to pituitary gland first or it’ll make the whole thing bitter.

by Anonymousreply 83October 15, 2024 8:44 AM

R81, the broth is great for a head-cold.
