Pleas tell me there is no chance that DT can actually win this election. How could it be possible? I just don’t get it.
Hold Me, David!

Kamala will win, OP, but we're still going to have to deal with their denialism in whatever form it takes.

Still better than dealing with him winning!

Uemocrats don't take polls. Republicans do, on their rotary phones.

Fifty percent is appalling! Can so many people really not see how ridiculous and unfit Trump has become?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 15, 2024 5:04 PM |
Indeed, R5, but you have to remember that half of the American people are old, fat, lazy, on the dole and completely dependent on the socialism that they hate, so cognitive dissonance is neither unseen nor unheard in these times.
Hell, half of the American people would chop off their right hand (ending their sex lives) if they thought it would hurt a black, brown, gay or person with a vagina (and that even includes those in that half [italic]with[/italic] a vagina).

We’ve been living fool’s paradise. There’s more haters than we ever imagined who are willing to destroy themselves in order to kill us. HAPPY VOTING DAY!

R6 Right on-You got my vote.

Trump here-We love the gays! Very special people-
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 15, 2024 8:35 PM |
R6 Is unaware of the fact that white people (non Hispanic) are only 57.8% of the population.
Or that according to the latest NYTimes/Siena poll, 45% of Hispanic men say they will be voting for Trump and 20% of black men choose Trump.

[quote] Kamala will win, OP
At the moment, 55% of the respondents indicate that they believe Trump has 50% or greater chance of winning.

I thought she had it and then the polls have changed. I'm not getting a good feeling now but hoping (praying) things will change. I voted 70%....

R14, now 56%.

I want to be optimistic, so I voted 10%. I also just checked my voter registration and they had an incorrect address for me. Please check your voter registrations!!

OP, I think R6 offers a fairly succinct and accurate take. Yes, logically, it makes no sense that Donald Trump could even be eligible to run, let alone have a strong chance of winning.
But given that most people in the US can barely read at a sixth-grade level and even then don’t use their reading ability for anything more taxing than TikTok captions, it’s often a wonder that this country functions as well as it does.
If you’re interested in a more subtle explanation, look at the article for what the philosopher Rousseau has to say on the topic. If you’re too lazy to read it, I’ll summarize: Those at the lower echelons of society prioritize blaming/attacking/demonizing those (perceived to be) beneath them over principles like fairness, democracy, and/or the good of the country over the good of the individual.

[quote]45% of Hispanic men say they will be voting for Trump
Focus group analysis shows that all you have to do is explain to Hispanic men that Shitler's round 'em-up-and-throw' em out (or kill them) will work, and almost to a person they withdraw their support and change their votes. There's a reason the Harris campaign is doing outreach in Hispanic communities. One question explains it all: Do you want your wife/husband/son/daughter/mother/father deported, sent to a concentration camp or killed simply because they have brown skin? Because that is exactly what's going to happen should the cataclysm happen.
[quote]and 20% of black men choose Trump.
First, the holy God-damned [italic]New York Times[/italic] polling is so flawed and so skewed that it cannot be taken seriously. Second, that 20% is a pipe dream. All other polling says that ceiling is 12%.
Any Hispanic or Black who chooses Shitler will get exactly what they deserve.
