Celebrity Antiques Road Trip
Does anyone watch this show? I really like it. Two British celebrities are paired with two antiques experts and they drive around British backroads in vintage cars buying antiques in a challenge to see who can profit more at an auction at the end of a two day trip.
There's lots of dry British humor and geezers galore.

UK has had a version of this for decades - Bargain Hunt. Looks like this is similar, just with some celebs.

I’ve watched this on PBS - but the “celebrities” are people we’ve never heard of in the U.S.
Aged British pop stars and the like.

Really??
WELL! I had no idea anyone of stature did it!! It’s always some faded person who starred in 4 seasons of “Corridors of Coriander” or something else we’ve never heard of.
Now I’m wondering if Derek Jacobi ever did it.

It’s daytime TV for elderly people.

Of course he did. Could you even tell apart the two shows?

I don´t have access to PBS, but I'm an fan of the original (UK) Antiques Roadshow and in recent years the saeries of antiques dealer Drew Pritchard, 'Salvage Hunters.'
PBS Americanized the Roadshow with its ass-backwards emphasis on people rather than their possessions. The long-shots of some old woman gearing up for a hyper-exaggerated reaction after winding her up for 11 minutes of on-air puffery: 'Say that again?! Really! Oh my goodness... Well, I could just about fall out of my chair! It´s worth that much? And to think I let my grandschildren play with this cast-iron skillet that's worth almost 100!' The UK original has erred to a lesser extent in the same direction recent years and suffered considerably.
'Salvage Hunters' is excellent. The dealer has broad taste and solid knowledge. His markup between buying and serlling is reasonable and interesting and fair in a trade that isn´t always so transparent. And the things he buys vary widely but you see genuine quality often on the show. It succeeds because it´s about the antiques and the buying and selling of them, not about silly banter and blwoing the dust off some old entertainer to line his pocket a little. The companion show that features restoration specialists is likewise well done.
'Bargain Hunt' and the other, lesser series are pretty sad excuses if you like the ostensible subject of the series.
