Hollywood is being run by influencers now!
Hollywood Reporter says social media influencers are the new A-List

They don’t exactly run Hollywood now but they could possibly. And they are kinda the new A list. Many of these people are bigger than Jacob Elordi and Paul Mescal.

Bigger as in having more followers on social media? Yes. But none of them have pull in Hollywood.

R3 Agreed but with all these flops left and right. The creatives are going to get smart. All it takes is for one of these cunts to star in a successful comedy or even documentary and they will be the future. Hell because they might have the pull to convince their followers to go see it in theaters first. I just hope these cunts can actually act because I know they will be the future.

Whether it’s these influencers or the current foisted “stars” on screen today, Hollywood is screwed and over either way.

The women look shellacked
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 10, 2024 5:29 PM |
This has been true for years now. Gen Z barely watch movies and TV, they’re on their phones watching these people.

R4 Perhaps this will bring back the beautiful movie star as a box-office attraction.
Many popular influencers are more attractive than those homely/fat things "woke" Hollywood has been trying to make happen in recent years and that nobody wants to watch on the big screen, which is partly why the industry has been suffering lately.

R8 Influencing, while a business, is less work and more pay.
A lot of actors and singers would have done it had it existed during their time.
The Madonna’s of today are social media influencers.

Everyone in that photo collage looks AI-generated.

R8 what woke uglies has Hollywood been promoting other than Lena Dunham which in her case she made Hollywood pay attention creating her own content.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 10, 2024 5:39 PM |
But how many of their followers are real and not bots? Is there a way to authenticate someone's 'following'?
There are WAY too many people with a huge # of subscribers for it to be real. And do people actually BUY stuff from them?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 10, 2024 5:40 PM |
Hollywood spent too much time investing in IPs and super heroes and struggle to make movie stars now.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 10, 2024 5:47 PM |
What do they do? Promote products & restaurants & clubs?

Most of female influencers are overly manicured bimbos. Yes many of them are naturally pretty but not unique beauties. And because they are so manicured they look fake, sometimes tranny looking. Half of the influencer guys are gym rats that if not for their bodies would be average at best.

R15 - many of them are prostitutes for hire and using the Gram as advertising. What unique knowledge do these overly manicured bimbos have to impart, particularly when they all look so similar? Nothing.
I came across a guy who catfished a lot of them for potential paid sex work in Dubai. They knew the drill and were down for it - most of them had obviously done this before.
This is how some of them show these pics on yachts or in expensive areas - they're getting paid (admittedly good money) to be weekend whores.

R16 That’s true for some of them but not the ones HR is featuring. These people are truly popular and made lots of dough from having million and millions of followers especially the gamer ones. And many of the Beaty/ makeup couture females too.

The plot thickens

Teens want to be streamers or influencers. They don’t want to be movie stars.
Hollywood’s day is over.

Mostly women, mostly young. It says a lot about how much more women pay attention to influencers and style makers than men.
Some comedy but not as much as I would have expected. One of the guys was the hot wing show which is popular because of the guests. At least one of the guys was something that young women subscribe to because they are cute. A few gay/gay-adjacent guys, which I assume appeal to women more than men, on the list too.
Of all of them, Rhett and Link are the stand outs. They have had a decades long career and have successfully expanded their platforms to fan clubs and merchandise rather than just relying on ad revenue. Their content is mostly non-fad, personality based and they have an enormous output released on a regular schedule.
I’m really surprised they didn’t list Mr. Beast, who has a deal with Netflix, but maybe the omission has more to do with the negative press he’s gotten recently rather than his lack of “rizz.”

It sounds ditzy & superficial & shallow, but kinda fun 🤩

There’s a lot of BMs happening on this thread

Grifters who don't want actual jobs but lots of freebies.

One more sign of the apocalypse.

r3 But is the bigger picture that Hollywood itself is losing its pull and experiencing declining relevance as a popular culture powerhouse ?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 10, 2024 8:13 PM |
R20 Men are hooked on social media with influencers just in a different way. The “Red Pill” business is pretty big.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 10, 2024 9:07 PM |
R25 A job is a job. They have a job because they are generating income via paid subscribers and ad revenue.

I'm on YouTube as a viewer daily. J don't recognize these people.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 11, 2024 2:55 AM |
I recognize only two of them, Charli and Schlossberg, but I follow no one on that list. I think they excluded all the gaybaiters.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 11, 2024 3:32 AM |
I don’t think it’s making anyone happy. Rich, yes. But not happy.
