“Gay face” is a real thing, according to this new study
As gay men, we’ve long been accused of dating people who could be our twins. But research indicates we may not have a choice.
We all look the same!
Studies show that “gay face” is real, though the look doesn’t have anything to do with masculine or feminine features.
It’s about sym 👏 met 👏 try 👏, honeyyy…
Gay scientists Mitch Moffit and Greg Brown recently addressed the phenomenon on their popular YouTube channel, “AsapSCIENCE.” The two partners started summarizing research on the topic, which is surprisingly thorough.
Early studies in 2011 found that gay men have more symmetrical faces than their hetero peers. But as Brown mentions, the studies didn’t factor in grooming–surgical or otherwise.
“We like to pluck our eyebrows, keep our beards nice and trim. I know a lot of gay men who have Botox and filler trying to make their faces symmetrical,” he says.
Digging beneath the symmetry, researchers started performing quantitative analysis of male faces, with the help of morphometric software. The technology allows users to analyze 2D and 3D data, such as… images of faces!

If you have to ask, you don't need to know.

Guys in the OP are rather ugly. They couldn't pick a better couple with gay faces ?

The fact that most straight men are repellent slobs does make it a bit easier through the process of elimination, though, doesn't it?

Yes, of course, gay men have a biological drive for bilateral symmetry. That's it. How could I have been so blind?
What nonsense. How does that explain the hyena smile with closed eyes? The hyper-animated smile that extends across the whole face? The exaggeration of the entire landscape of the face, all at once as if by electric switch, that will fade, often just as suddenly, to a sour face that as if caused by a bad smell? A face smiling so expansively and artificially without a hint of ease or contentment, just mock delight?

According to this study, we're LESS symmetrical! Although they only measured15 gay men, so one should probably take it with a grain of salt...
[quote]Facial symmetry could play a role in "gaydar," a new study suggests. Researchers at Albright College in Reading, Pa examined how perceptions of a person's sexual orientation are influenced by facial symmetry and proportions. Self-identified heterosexuals had facial features that were slightly more symmetrical than homosexuals. And the more likely raters perceived someone as heterosexual, the more symmetrical that person's features were.

It's the eye action and also subliminal smell.

Based on a photo or video, it's many cues, not about symmetry. R6 is a good start. Plus body and hand movements.

I saw someone on TikTok today objecting to being called gay. He had definite gay face.

Exaggerated facial expressions (unless one is a comedian) is often a sign.

In my lifelong observation of lesbians, they tend to either pair with a woman who looks [italic]exactly[/italic] like them or [italic]completely the opposite[/italic] of them.
Is that true with gay men as well?
