Shari Redstone says the CBS executives made a mistake in rebuking Dokoupil over the Ta-Nehisi Coates interview
Shari Redstone, the media mogul whose Paramount empire controls CBS News, criticized the network’s leadership on Wednesday for its decision to reprimand a star morning show anchor over his handling of an on-air interview with the writer Ta-Nehisi Coates.
“They made a mistake here,” Ms. Redstone said during an appearance in Midtown Manhattan, adding, “I think we all agree that this was not handled correctly.”
CBS News executives rebuked the anchor, Tony Dokoupil, on a newsroom-wide call on Monday, saying that his conduct fell short of editorial standards.
Mr. Dokoupil had challenged Mr. Coates’s views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during a tense but civil appearance last week on “CBS Mornings,” at one point saying that parts of Mr. Coates’s new book — which compares Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to Jim Crow laws — “would not be out of place in the backpack of an extremist.”

She's right.
Democrats are showing what bullies they are.

Democrats? This was about some clueless news executives.
It has nothing to do with dems.

It may not have to do with Democrats per se, but it certainly reflects progressive attitudes. How DARE you question Ta-Nehisi Coates?

The irony is that they’re not progressives. I am willing to bet money that there is not one sentence about the extermination of gay/bi men in the “Palestinian” territories, nor a mention of the astronomical rates of female genital mutilation.

The whole thing made progressives, including Democrats, look like once in power they will try to re-educate you via DEI if you don't toe the "woke" line.

You could tell from the interview that Tony Dokoupil had an axe to grind. Gayle apparently had a list of questions she wanted to ask but she didn't get a chance. It became the Tony show.

Yes, we're all sorry Gayle did not get her fair chance to pose the difficult questions.
"Whom do you adore more, Ta-Nehisi: the Duke or the Duchess of Sussex?"

The axe to grind may be over the fact that a progressive darling who knows nothing about the Middle East has weighed in on the side of the Palestinians because oppression.

She had plenty of chances to jump in; she's been in the news business for decades and should know how it's done.
