This should warm at least one dead heart here.

It has pockets so no need to carry around a snack purse on your day of days. Just fill with bite sized candies and you’re good to go.

by Anonymousreply 2October 9, 2024 3:36 AM

I feel sorry for that pedestal she was standing on.

by Anonymousreply 3October 9, 2024 3:40 AM

Can she find shoes wide enough to force her ham hocks into?

After the several atrocities she first tried on, the white dress with the black lace appliques actually looked may kinda halfway decent on her.

by Anonymousreply 4October 9, 2024 3:52 AM

It just goes to show that every pot has its cover.

May the happy couple live happily ever after.

by Anonymousreply 5October 9, 2024 3:56 AM

I was too nice and looked at it. You were too mean and nasty to post it.

by Anonymousreply 6October 9, 2024 4:08 AM

I wonder if she tried this store?

The first dress was just.... omg. NO.

And to all the haters. She's getting a husband.

How about YOU?

by Anonymousreply 8October 9, 2024 4:17 AM

Georgia Tent and Awning

by Anonymousreply 9October 9, 2024 4:19 AM

Why would someone put that on SM? The dress is way too small.

As to her shape, that HFCS must have played a part.

by Anonymousreply 10October 9, 2024 4:49 AM

She says it's a courthouse wedding - why the over-the-top dresses?

The first one was just awful. The last one with the black on top was probably the best one.

by Anonymousreply 11October 9, 2024 4:58 AM

A couple of those dresses gave her a Chrissy Metz-ish look.

by Anonymousreply 12October 9, 2024 4:58 AM

The guys into women like that always seem to either be fat themselves, or wiry little geeks. You know the type.....the ones that always totally look like they own ferrets.

by Anonymousreply 13October 9, 2024 4:59 AM

I don’t know her story but she’s dealing with challenges. There were a couple of dresses that made sense, concealed her size. I hope the wedding turns out favorably for her.

by Anonymousreply 14October 9, 2024 5:42 AM

The salesperson is an ace, 💯%.

by Anonymousreply 15October 9, 2024 7:06 AM

I thought the last dress worked for her, but think the black detailing could have been softened a bit with a different color. Maybe then it wouldn't have provided as much "coverage" but i think the silhouette of the dress itself provided enough coverage that the other dresses did not.

by Anonymousreply 16October 9, 2024 7:11 AM

The black on top was slimming. The bottom part of a wedding dress is supposed to be big and billowy, anyway. And the billowy-ness helped to cover up her rolls underneath.

So the black on top and white on bottom did give her some kind of womanly figure.

by Anonymousreply 17October 9, 2024 7:16 AM

The one she went with was lovely. I didn’t think the all black was appropriate for a wedding but it looked nice on her.

I used to work next to a large courthouse and by a minister that did quick weddings right by. I would see brides and grooms dressed up all the time going in for a courthouse wedding.

by Anonymousreply 18October 9, 2024 7:24 AM

R15 100%. She also gives me Teesha from jealousy @ the airport vibes.

by Anonymousreply 19October 9, 2024 7:38 AM

It's not uncommon to see very sizeable black girls with skinny little black men. I've never understood it, but maybe it's some sort of genetic leveling thing?

by Anonymousreply 20October 9, 2024 8:29 AM

She should have considered a Zoom wedding, with a lot of filters and camera view from only the neck up……

by Anonymousreply 21October 9, 2024 8:35 AM

R20 There are not enough black men for black women. That’s why sometimes I even feel guilty being gay. I think biology makes it so that there is slightly more females than men in any ethnic group. Then when you factor in the prison industrial complex, the socialization of how we educate children, those that are gay, those that get shot dead by another black man before the age 23, it makes dating off balanced in the black community. It’s way more complicated than can even be expressed here.

R24 ???? You really need help my friend.

by Anonymousreply 25October 9, 2024 8:44 AM

People can and do date outside of their race. In my town, which has very few black people relative to its population (inland northwestern city), interracial relationships are the norm rather than the exception. I thought about it one day and realized that if there are only 5 or 6 black people in a high school class and they are not physically attracted to one another, that only leaves interracial relationships.....duh. My own blinders on.

by Anonymousreply 26October 9, 2024 8:45 AM

I liked the top of the first gown for her. With a full skirt, that would have been a good look.

by Anonymousreply 27October 9, 2024 8:55 AM

R26 I agree but up until recently we were not socialized to date outside our race. It always been different in the gay community though. And black women are the most romantically loyal to their race than any other group.

It’s mad about something again. Sad. Sad that people take their personal frustrations and failures out on random strangers online.

by Anonymousreply 30October 9, 2024 9:04 AM

Jesus Christ, no to all of them except the last one. The first one, hell no.

by Anonymousreply 31October 9, 2024 10:22 AM

Nature dealt her a poor set of genes. That peplum of fat circling her is disproportionate to the rest of her body.

A rightwing gay (?!?), who is a racist and pretends to be a black man (?!?) on a gay gossip forum, thinks I’m the one who “really needs help.”

Based on the first dress, I thought this thread was going to go a very different way, so I was pleased to see the gradual improvement in selection until that final beautiful, very appropriate choice.

I had some comments but I think I’m going to let them go and try to have a positive day. Wishing you DL’ers one as well!

by Anonymousreply 35October 9, 2024 3:54 PM

The only thing that would flatter her figure on her wedding day is a friend who could lie to her, convincingly, following her down the aisle complimenting her.

by Anonymousreply 36October 9, 2024 4:00 PM

[quote]the white dress with the black lace appliques actually looked may kinda halfway decent on her.

It reminded me of Tracy Turnblad's cockroach dress.

by Anonymousreply 37October 9, 2024 4:04 PM

she should have picked the first dress LOL

by Anonymousreply 38October 9, 2024 4:07 PM

The dress she chose is gorgeous and it's the best strategy for a bride with an obese body type. Choose an awesome, visually engaging pattern and as flattering a fit as you can. Well done!

The first one though... I literally cringed.

by Anonymousreply 39October 9, 2024 4:12 PM

I hope watching the video was her wake up call.

by Anonymousreply 40October 9, 2024 4:13 PM

Can a doctor on here say why her stomach is misshapen? Why is the roll on lower belly so big? Is she sick?

by Anonymousreply 41October 9, 2024 4:15 PM

I can’t help it. I see her and I think “diabetes.”

But nobody else can do your eating for you and nobody else can do your exercise. If getting Type 2, for which obesity is a common risk factor and which can result in blindness and the need to amputate limbs, hasn’t altered the choices she’s made to date, it’s unlikely anything will. There are no health measures that would not be improved if she lost weight, but we’re not supposed to say it.

Yeah, the fabric on the last dress was lovely but why not dig a little deeper and eat well?

by Anonymousreply 42October 9, 2024 4:22 PM

R42 so true. I was just listening yesterday to some early 90s playlist and PM Dawn came on, that track where Prince Be raps mellow over samples from True by Spandau Ballet. Prince Be was obese and had out of control diabetes, ended up with amputations and other health catastrophes, kidney failure... it was a horrible way to live before he died in only his 40s.

by Anonymousreply 43October 9, 2024 4:44 PM

[quote] The only thing that would flatter her figure on her wedding day is a friend who could lie to her, convincingly, following her down the aisle complimenting her.

That’s the role of the guy waiting for her at the end of the aisle. Or in this case, other end of the Justice’s chamber at City Hall.

P.S. I tried to be positive, but relapsed while having to wait for my coffee at Starbucks. Tomorrow is another day to Be Best!

by Anonymousreply 44October 9, 2024 5:02 PM

I sent the groom a 5 lb. sack of flour for the wedding night.

I’ll post link to see if my phone is the problem.
