According to CNN, Forbes released their list of world's richest female entertainer and it's Taylor Swift on top with $1.6B. In second pace is Rihanna with $1.4B. Jay Z is the wealthiest entertainer in the world (no value given). Swift's value comes in from her profitable Eros Tour in 2023 and her music catalogue.

Dear Taylor: Please use your wealth to get your followers to register to vote and cast their ballot for Kamala Harris.

Who cares.

Rihanna? How? She doesn't write her own songs and when was the last time she toured?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 8, 2024 8:25 PM |
I've been hearing her stuff a lot on those canned retail store playlists. I finally recognize her voice, but the songs all sound the same.

Rihanna has a makeup line called Fenty that has foundations (skin makeup) in darker colors than most makeup lines.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 8, 2024 10:55 PM |
R4 I think it's her clothing line etc
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 8, 2024 10:56 PM |
R1 I don't think she needs to use her 'wealth' to do that. She posted a few weeks ago she was voting for Harris, and voter registration for Zoomers exploded. She can do an awful lot without her wealth.

Who does she think she is?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 9, 2024 12:40 AM |
I used to be the wealthiest female entertainer in the world back in the 70s. Those were my Glory Days.

I've never listened to her music, but she seems savvy as hell. More power to her.

Does Oprah not count as an entertainer anymore?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 9, 2024 1:40 AM |
With her, it’s hard to separate her wealth from her fame and influence.

Rihanna has a huge cosmetic line. HUGE.

I never get how people so rich can keep so much wealth while others need it. Not just Taylor. I know money needs to be invested for the economy etc but there shouldn't be any billionaires.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 9, 2024 8:20 AM |
R15 How do you know what they're doing with their billions ? How do you know whether they are keeping it in their bank vault, under their mattress, investing in start-up-companies (so small businesses can grow), investing in medical research, or donating to charities ?

Rhianna really struck gold with her makeup line because she is an average singer and a terrible performer. I love her and some of her music though so i am happy for her. She must be a good businesswoman.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 9, 2024 1:00 PM |
R17 I truly don't think she personally has much to do with 'her business'. She agrees (with the help of a legal team) to the licenses of her name and image to the product, and appears in commercials. I doubt very much she's in the laboratories developing these cosmetics and fragrances, knowing the next big trend. And then she has a team of lawyers, accountants, investors, etc. handling her finances from the business.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 9, 2024 1:15 PM |
I applaud her because she made her billion from exactly who she is, a singer.
Everyone else has to invest and do other things.
Taylor Swift sells music. No makeup, clothing lines, beauty skin care, perfume blah blah blah.
I respect it. As much as she charges for her tickets and releases vinyl album editions, she does have respect for her fans money.

There is zero way she's wealthier than Madonna. Forbes famously low balls Madonna's wealth bc she doesn't share data with them. Someone who has sold over 400 million records, owns exclusive art, had tours which earned $1.6 billion, of which she got 90% plus 50% of merch is worth far more than Taylor.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 9, 2024 1:46 PM |
Lol how can anyone get 90% of their tour gross when they need to pay venues, ticket sites, personnel etc
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 9, 2024 7:52 PM |
R20 Swift's Eras tour has already surpassed the gross of all Madonna's combined, over 2.2 billion. Closer to 3bn by the end.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 9, 2024 9:57 PM |
Had Madonna resorted to the same sleazy tactics of releasing 40 different variations of each album her die hard fans would have bought them all and sent Madonna’s physical sales even higher. Taylor is a sociopath who must outdo everyone else.

It was just reported that Swift donated $5 to Feeding America's hurricane relief efforts R15. Don't you feel like a pompous ass right about now ?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 10, 2024 2:54 AM |
That's $5M she donated (sorry about the error above )
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 10, 2024 2:55 AM |
$5 is probably what Musk or Trump would donate
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 10, 2024 3:40 AM |
I donated $5 to Jill Stein.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 10, 2024 3:47 AM |
R24 no. My comment wasn't about Taylor (who has always been generous) but about having a billion or more lying around that could be funnelled into all sorts of good works, instead of accumulating.
The concept of ever being worth such vast sums is bizarre to me
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 10, 2024 6:09 AM |
R28 She is a sociopath. She has to beat everyone else out at everything. Number one songs, money, everything.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 10, 2024 6:15 AM |
Madonna sold huge numbers of records in the 80s and 90s, so while it is definitely possible (in fact, very likely) Taylor Swift is richer, I find these kinds of rankings a bit weird given nothing is really adjusted for inflation. It's like top moneymaking lists for films that don't look at number of tickets sold and instead at gross. Of course more recent films will top older ones in that regard.
Elvis had a fortune in the 50s and 60s but would have been considered moderately successful compared to someone like Katy Perry today if you just looked at the dollars they made in their respective eras.
