I think her father, record label and Jay Z all made sure to squash whatever competition she might’ve had. She had a really good PR team. Destiny’s Child was obviously a set up to launch her solo career.

Once she began her solo career, there were dozens of female R&B singers who sounded exactly like her and their careers all mysteriously faded away. Rihanna is somehow the only one who survived.

She remained on top until about 2016. I don’t think she is as popular now as she used to be.

I can understand Beyonce being popular but not Taylor Swift. The thing is The Swifties are a cult.

Beyonce is a good singer and dancer but a SPECTACULAR performer. Truly peerless as a live entertainer. I like her and I know many people who LOVE her. The acclaim and fanaticism does not surprise me at all.

There's a difference between being around (and aware) at the middle or end of someone's career and being around for its entirety. Beyonce came along at the right time to be exposed to a whole bunch of other people through technology that eventually altered the industry forever.
