Oh come on, people! I am sitting in Leesburg, FL ready to hunker down for a hurricane for the second time in three weeks. I despise that DeSantis is a MAGA and refuses to acknowledge global warming.

However, I have seen him in take charge with these hurricanes and he has been nothing but dedicated to the planning, and recovery of hurricane damage. He is an amazing planner and leader in these disaster operations. Recovery from Helene was amazing due to his preplanning and he is doing even more preplanning for the Milton disaster.

Having said all that, we can see how he is multi-tasking to the max. He just said on TV that the President is giving him everything he ask for and thanked him. If he missed the call from the VP cause he was busy in a the middle of an oncoming disaster, whatever. He was asked about the call and said he never heard about it. Perhaps, he was lying... but, he thanked the President for all the support he is giving.

In this one instance, I will give DeSantis a break– MAGA or not.

However, the reverse is not true. If a Democrat governor were not to accept a call from cheeto, he would absolutely take revenge since the rethugs don't care about decency. He would wring concessions out of Dems and a public apology before allowing his followers to vote for aid.

De Santis knew the people had had ordered be arrested were under a good faith belief that they could vote even though they had felony convictions.

The state of Florida itself had allowed them to register and vote.

The look of hurt, embarrassment and true astonishment on their faces when they were being handcuffed and arrested will never leave my memory.

Even the arresting officers seemed apologetic and sheepish for carrying out those orders.

And, of course, they all were, to a person, poor and powerless.

De Santis is a terrible human being.

The answer to the problem is for Floridians not to vote for him. Wake the fuck up!

R39, it's not being President "of all residents" if one is offering to assist a state that has this issue frequently, but to deny another that may need the assistance on an odd occasion. It's not being President "of all residents" when the city where a plurality of supporters and donors live can't get assistance from the government on other issues.
