Alison Sweeney Is About To Star In Her 30th Hallmark Movie
Hallmark Channel may want to consider a nickname like Ali’s Place: Alison Sweeney is about to celebrate her 30th movie for the media company.
This Time Each Year will premiere October 24 as part of the kick off for Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas programming event. Sweeney plays Lauren, who was once in love with Kevin (Niall Matter) but nearly a year after their separation, they now focus on co-parenting their young son Charlie (Ezra Wilson). Despite the split, Kevin is determined to make their family whole again.
A special first look of the film will debut during Sweeney’s 10th Hannah Swensen movie franchise installment, A Sprinkle of Deceit: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, that’s premiering October 4 on Hallmark Mystery.

If Sweeney's been in 30, Lacey Chabert must have been in 458, at least.

Don't even big names on Hallmark only make about $100K per movie?
[quote]How much do Hallmark movie actors make per movie? Depending on their role, time on set, and call list placement, Hallmark actors can earn $5,600–$24,000 per movie. Leading roles played by bigger celebrities can bring in up to $65,000 per film for actors

My guilty pleasure secret admission (which I have now made TWICE on here today in different threads)....
I LOVE Hallmark Mystery movies. They are the most predictable, easy-to-digest, low-stakes blocks of softened cream cheese ever.
My favorite are the baking mysteries starring Alison Sweeney and that Cameron guy who seems handsome at first, but then you realize he is just symmetrical, bland and overly smooth. You can watch them over and over again because you forget about them as soon as the first credit rolls.
I can't get enough of them, though. Other good ones are Garage Sale Mysteries with popular felon Lori Loughlin and Morning Show Mysteries with Holly Robinson Pete (written by Al Roker!)
Brooke Shields had one for a bit where she was a florist who cracked cases, but it only lasted three or four movies.
(I have a fucking masters degree.)

It is quick money for 2 weeks of work. She only does a couple each year. The short schedule has allowed her to do other projects.

Meh - actors like to work - particularly soap actors who've done the same shit for decades. What else is she gonna do? Soap actors must get bored to death - same sets, same-ish storylines, etc.
She may have some producer credits with these movies, so her paychecks are higher than you would expect.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 8, 2024 10:49 PM
|
R25 - She does have producer credit for most of them.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 8, 2024 10:51 PM

r25 You contradicted yourself. She probably stopped doing days of our lives because it is the same shit. A 2 week gig where she gets to play someone different (although to be honest hallmark movies are all the same) at this point in her life is more interesting. Also a decade ago she did that weight loss show, and doing hallmark made sense since it didn't interfere with that. Most actors with a little bit of money do real estate and endorsements so she probably has a couple of things to juggle.
If you are an actor not interested in prestige or "the craft" being a hallmark actor is ideal.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 8, 2024 10:58 PM

r25 It looks better on her IMDB to have different roles than just a daytime soap. I know there is one actor from "one life to live" who had only 3 credits since she was doing soaps for almost all of her career.

Nope. I've been in a Hallmark movie, they do not ever film in two weeks. Most often there are fifteen shooting days over three weeks. Even that is pretty brisk, doing it in two weeks for a feature length film is impossible. The more expensively produced Hallmark films might have a fourth week.

Alison Sweeney's 30th Hallmark Movie Is "Not the Typical Christmas Movie”
As This Time Each Year, Alison Sweeney’s 30th movie for Hallmark, gets ready to premiere in less than 24 hours, the phenomenal actress is also prepping fans for the debut by teasing what’s to come. According to Sweeney, the Christmas film is a far cry from the usual flicks and will feature some unpredictable plot twists that viewers will never see coming. News of Sweeney’s milestone circulated earlier this month with This Time Each Year announced as part of the kick-off for Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas programming.
As revealed by the Hallmark icon to TV Insider, This Time Each Year is “not the typical Christmas movie” and will tackle “some complicated issues that lots of people deal with at the holidays.” She also noted, “We wanted it to be fun and funny and delightful and romantic, but also address some of the more serious aspects of family dynamics.”
Such an extraordinary project has been in the making for years as Sweeney divulged:
“I have been working on and developing this script for over three years. What first appealed to me about the premise was the idea that it was a couple that was happily married and had a kid and been living the life and then something goes wrong, and they have to figure out how to work their way through it. And then everything gets accelerated and amplified at the holidays and puts the spotlight on the issues.”

It's "not typical," I guess that means that there's an incest storyline or maybe the mother of Sweeney's character comes out as a lesbian...I'd be up for that!

You hail from the world of soap operas, so you’re familiar with the way the genre is sometimes devalued by Hollywood or some viewers. And the holiday movie circuit confronts similar opinions. But we’re seeing more of them made than ever before because there is an audience for them. Are they still undervalued or are the tides shifting?
There was a time when it was classified a certain way, but obviously the fans did not feel that way. Now, here we are. The fans have spoken that it’s important to them and Hollywood had to follow and listen. It does ebb and flow, right? Some of my favorite movies are Christmas movies. “Miracle on 34th Street,” “A Christmas Carol” — those are movies that were just the epic, some of the most important movies of all time. Then I think they fell into a pattern or a formula or a habit and got shuffled to the side. The success we’ve had in this genre, not just that they’re about Christmas, but people really love that tradition of “oh, I decorate the tree, we have eggnog, we watch Christmas movies together.” Those are synonymous.

How about for you as a performer, experiencing the stigma?
My mother is a violinist and when I was little, she performed with the Hollywood orchestra. She played in all the soundtracks for big movies. Some musicians looked down their nose at the musicians who played for Hollywood. But no one works harder than those musicians. I remember that my mom would always say to me, “What you do is beautiful. Being artistic is what you make of it. Just because it’s not Mozart or Shakespeare, it can still be so meaningful. What people take of it, you’re a part of that story.” Ever since I was little, I really admired that mentality of art for the masses and making music or performing in a way that people want to see. It doesn’t have to be so elevated that people don’t get it.
With the market for holiday movies increasing dramatically in recent years, how competitive is the space for you as an actor? Do you feel like there’s enough to go around?
No matter how many movies you do, or how much you’re working, you do have that moment of “Oh, she got a really good one. That role is so great.” There was one my friend Nikki [DeLoach] did where she rode horses in the movie. I love horses in real life. I did say to Hallmark, “When do I get to do a horse movie?” Nikki made that happen for herself. So I was like, “OK, I’ll get to work on that and develop my own story. I’ve got to work on that.”

R62 Regularly, For years now. .. Nearly a dozen donations this election cycle alone. .. And before Dump entered the picture she was a Rubio supporter.
And when she still resided in the Los Angeles area, she even went outside her own congressional district to support that perpetual loser candidate -- not to mention criminal -- Omar Navarro. In 2018, Navarro was once again running against major Dump critic, Congresswoman Maxine Waters. Apparently, she thought Navarro could unseat Waters in her district. Laughable.

She's dontated $468 to Trump twice this year. Why such a small, random amount?

R64 There's more shown than those two. She also made two other donations to Dump this cycle both in the amount of $520. And there's a couple others in the $70 range. So all those combined bring her over $2100. The individual limit is $3300. Also, the records aren't real-time. They only go through July. She could have added more during the last three months. None of my own donations from August and September show up yet. And while she's making the donations to Dump her husband is writing checks to Kari Lake.
