Reddit: Who is the rudest celeb you have ever met? What happened?

A great thread that had my reading for hours. Tommy Lee Jones and Jared Leto come up with unsurprising regularity. Some, like Shaq have severe swings in reactions, some calling him the greatest, most friendly and others hating him. Michael Jordan and Kobe are not favorites either. This is a one of the best posts I've ever read on Musk:

Elon Musk. He stayed at a mountain resort that I worked at in 2018 . He was luckily only there for 3 days but he was an utter terror the entire time he was there.

He refused to be checked in at the reception area and demanded a private check in at his cabin which is fine but we ask ahead of time so we can staff properly for the later arrivals.

He asked for the youngest female concierge on staff to be sent to the check in with nobody else for "security" reasons. I took the check in myself instead of sending the 19 year old and took the largest and oldest driver I could find for security reasons.

He wanted the personal cell phone numbers for all female concierge staff. I said that is against out policy and set him up with the resort app so he could contact whoever was on duty for a prompt answer.

He harassed every single female employee so nastily that by the time he had been there for 12 hours every department switched him to only male staff. He didn't tip any of the wait staff or guides for any activities. He booked a private horseback ride that a wrangler was brought in specially for the day and then refused to go because he didn't like the colors of any of the horses available , and he wanted to ride a really "butch and muscular" horse. He meant a draft horse, which we had for pulling wagons but none for riding.

He also had insane demands. He wanted a 80 year old beautiful ponderosa pine cut down because he didn't like how the light hit it at sunset. He wanted shock collars put on the squirrels to stop them from being too loud. And he wanted us to trap a grizzly bear and bring it to his cabin for a few hours so he could take pictures and study it.

He was the rudest, stupidest and most arrogant POS I have ever encountered.

Meryl Streep. She's been torturing me forever. 😭😭😭 YES I KNOW I'LL NEVER BEAT YOUR 21 OSCAR NOMINATIONS!!! Why must you be so harsh???

by Anonymousreply 8October 5, 2024 8:36 PM

Does Elon Musk count as a "celebrity"? I'm more inclined to stick with tyrant-enabler. (This also goes well beyond mere "rudeness" into BPD and massive entitlement syndromes.)

Btw Deuxmoi has endless asshole-celeb tales in their IG stories. Anthony Mackie somehow gets mentioned a lot, and considering he's assuming the helm of one of Marvel's most successful franchises in a few months, his asshole attitude doesn't seem like it'll play well with the media.

by Anonymousreply 9October 5, 2024 8:41 PM

One of the comments on there is about Jared Leto hitting on a 16-year-old girl

He sounds like a pig

Reddit can be awful but that thread is juicy! There's a lot of stories about Bill Cosby and Diddy, too

by Anonymousreply 10October 5, 2024 8:48 PM

Mabel Albertson kicked me in the balls when I asked her who she thought was the better Darrin.

by Anonymousreply 11October 5, 2024 8:53 PM

On Deuxmoi currently there are photos of Gigi Hadid with highly noticeable alcoholic bloatface. She looks 58 years old.

by Anonymousreply 12October 5, 2024 8:53 PM

Reddit has some good threads about personal encounters with celebrities.

by Anonymousreply 13October 5, 2024 8:56 PM

I love stories about celebrities being assholes.

Barbara Mandrell. When I was in High School I worked at a farm who delivered hay to her horses. You couldn't look or talk to her and had to walk with your head down. Someone forgot her golden rules and looked at her All hell broke lose.

The Mary Berry citation didn’t surprise me in the least
I always knew that behind that kindly grandmother persona, there’s something rancid.

by Anonymousreply 16October 5, 2024 9:18 PM

The reason I believe so many of these stories is because they're coming from service people. Celebrities are notoriously rude to servers. But a lot of the posters also cite celebrities being rude to kids, which is a real negative, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 17October 5, 2024 9:21 PM

r16 I'm pretty sure Mary Berry still has slaves.

by Anonymousreply 19October 5, 2024 9:24 PM

But is he a celebrity, Mary Todd?

by Anonymousreply 20October 5, 2024 9:32 PM

That's a good Reddit thread.

Anyway, disappointed about Mary Berry.

The NBA (basketball) players sound awful, as a whole. I am betting Charles Barkley would not be rude, though. He seems like a cool guy.

by Anonymousreply 21October 5, 2024 9:37 PM

Bill Murray is looking pretty good in this Reddit thread. I'm surprised.

by Anonymousreply 22October 5, 2024 9:40 PM

Wow! Reddit is just like DL! Posters putting blind items.

by Anonymousreply 23October 5, 2024 9:41 PM

Thank you OP, I also use Reddit and that thread is good reading. So many horror stories about encounters with Bill Cosby, way before the criminal charges. What a miserable SOB.

by Anonymousreply 24October 5, 2024 9:43 PM

r20, you were supposed to say "but did you enjoy the celebrity, Mrs. Lincoln?".

by Anonymousreply 25October 5, 2024 9:45 PM

Who was complaining about Mary Berry? Some soggy bottom I assume.

by Anonymousreply 26October 5, 2024 9:45 PM

what about celebs who have an unfair reputation? i think axl rose is nicer than he gets credit for. all his so called diva walk offs were really about gross security failures, he was devastated when fans died at a show very early in their career. always been sweet to fans from what i hear and read. i'm skeptical about gossip from bitter roadies who are mostly ex-cons and drug addict losers who probably got fired for being idiot degenerates. the worst story i've heard is that he refused to go on stage until he finished watching teenage mutant ninja turtles 2 in his hotel room.

by Anonymousreply 27October 5, 2024 9:45 PM

Does me looking in my mirror count?

Like, now, as I'm texting.

by Anonymousreply 28October 5, 2024 9:48 PM

Not surprising that Elon the Trump ass licker treats women like garbage.

by Anonymousreply 29October 5, 2024 9:49 PM

btw i wonder if kanye had some kind of brain injury or serious change from drug use - before yeezus came out when these threads would pop up on reddit he came up all the time as someone who went out of his way to treat crew members, service workers, etc. very well and generously.

by Anonymousreply 30October 5, 2024 9:50 PM

Because of my job in NYC back in the 90s/00s, I met a slew of celebrities and honestly 99% were really decent people. I supposed Jeanne Garofalo was the most rude, but all she did was look angry when I spoke with her handler about details for that night's performance. Oh, and perhaps most bizarre was Winona Ryder who I passed walking down a quiet street in the west village during a less-than-famous stage of her career. We passed each other and I looked at her to be sure that's who she was and when she noticed me, inches away, her hand shot up to cover her profile. But then again, Winona isn't best known for her mental wellness. Oh, and Barry Manilow was pissy and aloof but his handler (husband) was very nice.

A friend of mine had a funny story about Tina Louise (of which, I'm sure, there are legion) . He was house managing at a well known OB house and when the doors opened (with assigned seats) Tina bolted and pushed others out of the way to get in. Some older man said something and she turned around and said, "Please, it's not like you're not going to get in."

by Anonymousreply 52October 6, 2024 11:10 AM

I've worked with several sports figures. By the far, the nicest athlete I ever worked with was Steph Curry. He was friendly, accommodating, and kind. I worked with him at an event, and months later, I ran into him at another event. He remembered my name and walked up to me and gave me a hug.

On the other end of the spectrum, not surprisingly, Draymond Green is a complete asshole. Rude, arrogant, entitled, and with all the emotional restraint of a kindergartner who's had his toy taken away from him.

Likewise, Barry Bonds is a supremely arrogant asshole. I helped him when he attended an event, and he literally looked up, nose in the air, and wouldn't respond to anything I said to him. Total prick.

by Anonymousreply 53October 6, 2024 12:50 PM

I take great pleasure in knowing Draymond Green would hate that I frequently imagine fucking him deeply.

by Anonymousreply 54October 6, 2024 12:56 PM

I met Axl in Vegas while waiting for a flight to PHX about 18 years ago. He was quiet and sitting alone but when asked told me several hilarious stories about the recording of Appetite. This was pre-Botox so he looked pretty normal. He has that odd X-factor that so many lead singers possess where they arent conventionally attractive but clearly have charisma and intensity that puts them in a different league of entertainers. On the opposite end of the spectrum I met Gavin at Fred Segal within that same year and while he was lovely to look at, he had the magnetism of a jr high biology teacher. Julia Roberts = twat - I’ve encountered her a few times. My daughter who is now 26 has a good story where she was managing a pop-up in the Hamptons during college one summer and JR tried to barge in as they were closing but she and her fellow Zoomers locked the door in her face bc JR was so rude. Extra points bc none of them had seen that garbage dump Pretty Woman, so they had no real understanding of the irony of their snub.

by Anonymousreply 55October 6, 2024 12:57 PM

Ed Zwick's story what Julia Roberts did to fuck over Shakespeare in Love put me off her for good. Unprofessional.

I was in Orlando with my husband and a friend. We took hin to Disney with us as a birthday gift. It turned out there was a big horror convention in town and he was a huge Horror movie fan so we decided to go to that one day rather than the parks, because it was his vacation too. The night before we wen out to dinner at a fairly fancy restaurant. It was pretty quiet when we were sat with not many people in the restaurant. We were sat in a booth, my husband and I on one side, our friend on the other. Almost immediately a couple is sat behind us (my friend's back to them). I recognized the woman in the couple It was Tara Reid. I leaned forward and whispered to our friend, "don't say anything and don't look right away but I think Tara Reid is right behind you." He screams NUH HUH really loude, spins around, looks right at her, and goes OMG. Fan girls out so bad her and her date get up and leave. I could not blame her.

Not a celebrity encounter but my niece is a sports physical therapist, when she was working on her PHD she was assigned to the university sports teams. Basketball, baseball and football. She said the baseball players were the biggest sluts of all by far. I always think of that when I'm watching MLB.

I ran into Cam Reddish of the Lakers a few weeks ago as he was thinking of renting a house in my neighborhood. He was very nice but his male "friend" was a complete bitch. I think he purposely chose someone like that to have a relationship with so he would have someone to do his dirty work. I got some satisfaction seeing they were not a cute couple and gay NBA players go through lovers almost as fast as the straight ones

I met Alison Brie at a cocktail party at Malibu in 2018. She asked me if she could hold my drink for a second as I adjusted the slingback on my heels. I was very appreciative of that. While she was holding my drink, she spat a huge wad of phlegm into it. I thought that was really rude.

by Anonymousreply 69October 6, 2024 6:25 PM

Elie Wiesel came to speak to my high school. The presentation started late and he only had a few minutes to speak. He started yelling at a couple of teachers that he had traveled a long distance to speak so briefly and that he wouldn’t have come if he had known how little he’d get to speak.

It seemed oddly petty.

by Anonymousreply 70October 6, 2024 6:32 PM

I enjoyed reading about all the negative interactions with Winona Ryder on the Reddit thread. Im Gen X and she is so worshipped and deified. I see her as a psycho, insufferable bitch who is largely unliked in the industry for good reasons. I really think she’s bipolar.

Axl Rose is one of the best rock front men of all time. He really had stage presence, not even considering his vocal range.

However, I always got Neo-Nazi vibes from him. Plus, IIRC, he reportedly beat up one of his girlfriends (Stephanie Seymour), early fame time.

Now, he seems a lot more humble. He's lost his hair, he's gotten fat, and his voice is shot to hell.

He performed at Lisa Marie Presley's funeral. (Who knew they were close friends?) He played piano and croaked out "November Rain." It was truly awful (it's on YouTube), but I felt for him. He said yes, I'll perform, when asked.

by Anonymousreply 81October 6, 2024 9:04 PM

A hotel manager in Beverly Hills says that 90% of celebs are no trouble at all, and many don’t want any special treatment. (He said Laura Linney, Emily Blunt, and John Krasinski are very low-maintenance.)

Surprisingly, he also said that Kris Jenner, Kim Kardshian, and Angelina Jolie were very gracious and treated hotel staff kindly, as did Dwayne Johnson and P!nk.

In 2003 I had the strange good fortune to wind up backstage at a David Bowie concert in LA. Among the people I chatted with, a very young Scarlet Johannssen was extremely nice. Martin Gore of Depeche Mode was chatty and sweet. Ian Astbury of The Cult was pompous but social. Elijah Woods had the bluest eyes I'd ever seen and was way shorter than I ever realized. He seemed almost as out of his depth as I felt. Very humble. Bowie himself was VERY gracious. He entered the room wearing a green hoodie, jeans, sneakers and a smile, nothing like the tall, imposing "Thin White Duke" you imagine in your mind. Bowie chatted for a long time with my friend, while I sort of stood there trying not to gawk, trying not to fangirl, while inside I was literally exploding.

The one person that I found to have very dark, creepy energy that night was: Lisa Marie Presley. Oh my god. She was dressed for a funeral in head-to-toe black with a wide-brimmed hat. Scowl on her face like she'd just stepped in shit and smelled it. She had mean girl energy. Since then, I have seen interviews of Lisa Marie where she seems more normal and less ominous. I also understand more about her life than I did back then -- that she was the person that actually found her dad dead on the floor. That she was devastated by her marriage and divorce to Michael Jackson and spent years trying to both win him back and also get over him. I understand she has always been a troubled soul with sad eyes, but also she was a supposedly nurturing mother. But at that time, backstage that night, among so many chatty celebs, she seemed almost demonic. All I could think was "Oh, it's Lisa Marie, the creepy SCIENTOLOGIST." I figured she was in her Scientology/Aleister Crowley mashup era. If anyone knows what was going on with her specifically in 2003 (heroin?), let me know.

I took my nephew to a sci fi convention / autograph thing. Richard Dreyfuss was there doing autographs. My nephew didn't really care about him enough to pay for an autograph, but the way the line was structured, you could walk right by him and look. We walked by and we heard him saying to a very young kid (maybe 10ish), "Do you even know who I am? So you saw Jaws? What else have you seen? Nothing, that's what I figured. So you're just here collecting autographs." He signed the kids posted and basically threw it at him. It was very weird, and the kid was very confused.

by Anonymousreply 96October 7, 2024 12:20 PM

R99 - I have a Richard Dreyfuss story. He's at best 5 ft. tall and while I'm average height I towered over him. Anyway, I was at work and bent over a couch to pin something to a bulletin board and felt a presence. I look down and there's Dreyfuss looking like a scared out of his mind as if I were Godzilla about to step on him. We didn't speak and I didn't even know he was there in the building that day, but I'll never forget the look on his face. He wasn't a jerk (although I suspect he usually is), just so strange.

by Anonymousreply 97October 7, 2024 12:39 PM

R95, Dreyfuss was a decent actor and he has a respectable body of work, but shit, he ought to be grateful for the fact that he is remembered at all. And Jaws is a fucking classic that reaches generations beyond it's original audiences. Fuck Richard Dreyfuss. He had Jaws and Close Encounters. What else would a 10 yr old remember!

by Anonymousreply 98October 7, 2024 12:40 PM

If Richard Dreyfuss is that much of a bitter asshole then maybe he shouldn’t do Cons. Does he really need the money that badly? Maybe that’s the true source of his bitterness

At the horror convention I talked about up thread. I stood in line with my friend who wanted to get an autograph from some old porn star. Seka maybe? She looked like a fat old housewife. I held his phone so he could get a picture with her. He bought her book and got her autograph. After I took the picture she started yelling at me. "Why didn't you buy a book?" I said I was just there to hold my friend's stuff. She yelled what you can't read? It was getting uncomfortable. Same convention I saw Sharon Ferrell who I had worked with a loooong time ago. I figured she would not remember me. She looked up and I saw that spark of recognition then she got a big smile and ran around the table to hub me. OMG I have not seen you in forever, she said as she hugged me. Do you even remember me? I asked. She said, Of course from CBS, You were so sweet. I was floored. It had been about 20 years.

R101 Sounds like Seka, yes. She does tons of these autograph shows. She was quite stunning back in the 80s, but now she's a fat white trash frau who lives in the midwest with her white trash husband and her real name is Dottie Patton. She's also a hardcore MAGA Trumper, which just floors me, based on her past.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine invited me to a Zoom session where fans could join and ask Seka questions. I wasn't a fan, but I was curious about what she might have to say, so I joined. Before she joined the session, the Zoom moderator informed everyone that Seka was a "lady" and we were not to say or ask her any questions that were distasteful.

When she finally joined (she was 15 minutes late), she looked like crap and acted like she was bored out of her mind. Because no one could ask her any juicy questions, all she basically talked about was how she was so famous in the 1980s. She talked a little bit about dating Sam Kinison and some rock stars, but she offered nothing particularly revelatory.

Then at the end of the session, she started hocking her stupid autobiography and autographed pictures, and ended with this diatribe about how our country was going to hell and that we needed Trump in office if were going to survive. At that point, I logged off. I was tempted to tell her to fuck off, but I restrained myself.

by Anonymousreply 103October 7, 2024 3:54 PM

What I find interesting in the Reddit thread is how many people claim to have terrible encounters with "celebrities" at cons. It also lines up with stories I've heard from friends. How in the hell do you attend these conventions, charge for an autograph and/or picture and have attitude?

by Anonymousreply 104October 7, 2024 5:11 PM

^ because they're failures at Hollywood or fame and cannot come to grasp with their utter lack of importance.

by Anonymousreply 105October 7, 2024 7:09 PM

Yeah, the cons are not the red carpet at Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. They’re probably bitter and depressed to be eking out a living amongst the unwashed masses.

by Anonymousreply 106October 7, 2024 9:05 PM

Yeah Jack, this is Faye Dunaway... Look I've raced some of the stuff from the O'Neill interview but I'm not really interested in Terry O'Neill - he's a BIG, BIG LIAR and I'm really not interested in in him and you know all and dilly-dallying and carrying over Mommie Dearest...I don't even want to discuss it in my interview or on this Lloyd-Webber thing: those are NEGATIVES and I notice that you have nothing in about Marlon Brando, you have nothing in about Johnny Depp which I did two films with, I don't expect you to get get him for an interview, but you could put some footage in of the of the Kusturica movie which I was BRILLIANT in and it was not well sold in this country you can talk about the Marlon Brando film that I was wonderful in. All the POSITIVE things along that that period, the Marlon Brando film was going on at the same time that the Lloyd-Webber STUPIDITY was going on and you all have to put in the Lloyd-Webber STUPIDITY, you can't put in that I worked with the wonderful Marlon Brando and talk to the director of that movie FOR CHRISTSAKE! And I'm not gonna approve it and I'm really upset now because that uh for two nights now tried to thread through that STUPID interview with a with a man that I will not even waste my time discussing. And and you know who, suffice it to say, stopped working when he married me and pretended to be my manager for a very long time so LET'S NOT EVEN GO THERE! It's very upsetting to me! And then to put my uh our child in JEOPARDY the way he has. So I'm not interested in these NEGATIVE things that you all are putting in there with me in! I don't want Llloys-Webber in, I'd like you to cut him out, and I'd like you to really trim down everything to do with that Mommie Dearest, I'm not gonna talk about it, maybe one thing I'm gonna say about it and THAT'S ALL. It's just like uh you know an obsession, why can't you be obsessed about POSITIVE THINGS?! About Marlon Brando? About the Kusturica movie that was THE HIT OF ALL THE EUROPE AND CANNES? About uh, the film I did with Brando and talk to that, YOU KNOW?!

by Anonymousreply 107October 7, 2024 9:50 PM

I had a couple of d-list friends who attended these things all the time. One was an old pro, this was the only way she could make her "monthly nut." She was always gracious with her fans. She knew where her bread was buttered. The other was a soap guy who's oxygen was attention from the fau who watched his show. He lived for the adoration.

R109 Would you recognize her if you saw her on a billboard? Or three?

by Anonymousreply 111October 7, 2024 10:20 PM

R109, As someone who was a longtime neighbor of Frances McDormand’s in NYC, I can vouch for the fact that she is stone cold, the least friendly neighbor on an otherwise friendly street. That resting bitch face and inability to smile that she affects on award shows is her real life public persona — period.

Having said that, I haven’t seen her on my old street for years, not since before Covid. I had heard that she and husband Joel Coen relocated to LA during lockdown, their adopted son is grown up and has flown the coop and though I very occasionally see Coen srill around, never her. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn they are quietly living separate lives. She’s certainly cold comfort.

What I want to know is, did Faye Dunaway ever make a film with Brando?

by Anonymousreply 113October 7, 2024 10:28 PM

R112 - OK, one more Frances McDormand story. Again, quite some time ago. I was at the Lortel for the Obies (not a nominee, but friends were) and I was coming in close to start time into a very crowded small lobby. I get to the interior door to enter the auditorium at the exact same time a woman's hand reaches out to grab the door handle, but I got to it first. I turned to open the door for her and saw it was Frances McDormand who glared at me like I had just kicked her in the cunt bone. I think she was insulted by the whole man-opens-a-door-for-a-woman pseudo feminist horseshit. After an eternal moment she finally just shrugged with a "fuck it" expression and breezed past me. And no, she did not say thank you let alone smile wanly. In hindsight, I wish I had said, "Age before beauty," but that probably would've gotten me kicked out.

My first job in NYC (late 80s) was working box office and house for a then-hugely popular, long-running show off-Broadway. They had brought in a "name" to boost ticket sales and prep her for the next national tour: Dody Goodman. At the time I was watching late night reruns of Mary Hartman and recognized her instantly. For whatever reason she decided to eat her lunch (tuna sandwich) in the lobby alone rather than backstage with the other actors and crew, so it was just me and her. I was working, walking back and forth and without approaching her I said, "Ms. Goodman, I really enjoyed you on Mary Hartman. I've been watching it lately in reruns." Without even turning to look at me she said, "My goodness. Do people still watch that thing?" Then went back to her tuna sandwich with vacant dead eyes.

Conversely, I was selling tickets one day to a different hit show and I got a phone call from Imogene Coca. She gave her name and began to spell it when I stopped her and said she was famous and I knew the spelling. You'd think I'd just gave her part of my liver. She was delighted to know someone so young knew who she was. It was touching, really.

So, fuck off, Dody.

I've had a few unexpected run-ins with Frances McDormand and once even had a long, gracious conversation with her. She is down-to-earth and friendly for the most part, though leery, I think, of movie fans who want to discuss her work from 25 years ago.

The rudest?

Hmm...

I've met a lot of celebrities and worked with quite a few as well, from Kanye to Liza. But the rudest one (and I hope I'm not forgetting someone who deserves it) was Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser, of all people. DOUCHE EXTRAORDINAIRE.

My mother loved the show Laugh In back then, so she turned to Joanne Worley and said, "Miss Worley, I just wanted to let you know I love you on Laugh In."

Joanne Worley just kept looking straight ahead, rolled her eyes, then got up and left the bar.

R131. I described Wynona Judd as nuts because she seemed rather unstable, always talking about the relationship with her mother, which was dysfunctional. She was unreliable about media interviews, rather scatterbrain crazy, and then continued talking about her screwball family on stage.

However, I will say, when she sang and joked with the audience, she was fun and put on a good show. She was entertaining and the audience liked her, and she has a good voice. I had to deal with her from a pr/media standpoint, and she was kind of annoying and nutty.

A friend of mine who was a limo driver used to work for a number of shows including Letterman and SNL. This was back in the mid to late 80s.

He said most of the celebrities he drove were perfectly civil, including famed horrors such as Lauren Bacall and Marlon Brando.

Letterman was cold and uncommunicative to the point of weirdness.

Paul Shaffer was abusive, whiny, always late, blamed the driver for everything, had a filthy mouth and was generally an egotistical asshole.

RDJ started out as friendly and talkative and then got sadder and quieter as things progressed. He was filming a movie (Less Than Zero, I assume) on the west coast between shows for SNL in New York and started looking more and more unwell. His last trip he burst into tears when he arrived at the airport. Since it was the last time my friend saw him I assume it was the day SNL canned him.

The rudest celebrities I ever met personally were through the art world - Richard Serra (pompous and theatrically bored by everyone), Maya Lin (insane bitch), the talent-free asshole Damien Hurst, the snobbish and class-obsessed Zaha Hadid. by Anonymousreply 198October 15, 2024 6:21 AM

R115 What I would PAY to have someone say to her face that they loved her film with Brando, only to then clarify they meant Jocelyn.

by Anonymousreply 199October 15, 2024 6:55 PM

R182 was joking. Shirley Booth did not have kids.

by Anonymousreply 200October 16, 2024 2:05 AM

An obnoxious child actress named Carrie Kei Heim. Worked on the set of her last film, The Parent Trap 2. Hated by most of the crew.

by Anonymousreply 201October 16, 2024 2:10 AM

Julia Roberts, horrible woman, when she was still a junkie-Jason Patric was delicious looking at the time.

I was staying in the old 4 Seasons Hotel on Logan Square in Philadelphia, Pa. Junkie ho-bag but Jason was yummy looking as Fuck. I told her it's not hard for u to play the whore, but Jason Patric as a vampire, delicious. I told that story be.

by Anonymousreply 202October 16, 2024 5:13 AM

^^^ told this story B4^^^

by Anonymousreply 203October 16, 2024 5:14 AM

Well, I guess I give Julia R. credit for getting off of heroin.
I told her it's not hard for u to play the whore

Did you really say that to her face? If so, what was her reaction?

by Anonymousreply 204October 16, 2024 5:20 AM

Jason Patric was yummy, in an elevator with the Junkie whore wrapped around him. It was 5am, we were both drunk, high and nasty. I always win that argument. No cameras in the elevators at the time. They were in rooms 755, 757& 759(the Presidental suite)-I was in Room 865, the 2-bedroom suite.

Julia was a real junkie cunt, if u confronted her, she backed down. I was "nasty as Fuck" back in the day. She didn't like the comment but she didn't come back at me.

by Anonymousreply 205October 16, 2024 5:54 AM

The only celebrity I ever met was JFK when I was a kid and he was very nice.

by Anonymousreply 206October 16, 2024 5:57 AM

R205, thanks! So, Jason Patric did not defend his woman's honor?

by Anonymousreply 207October 16, 2024 6:36 AM

Some of these say more about the poster than the celeb. Jude Law didn’t erupt with glee when I tried to stop him on the street to ask him questions - most people wouldn’t. Terminally ill Alan Rickman wasn’t chatty enough for me.

by Anonymousreply 208October 16, 2024 8:02 AM

I think this is the first rude celeb thread I've seen in a decade without a single post about James Corden cunting it up.

by Anonymousreply 209October 16, 2024 9:59 AM

Asking for an autograph is pretty stupid.

by Anonymousreply 210October 16, 2024 10:23 AM

Bothering people while they are eating a meal is also obnoxious. The bathroom should just be off limits. People are there to piss and shit, not put on a happy face for a selfie.

by Anonymousreply 211October 16, 2024 12:47 PM
I think this is the first rude celeb thread I've seen in a decade without a single post about James Corden cunting it up.

Only because he's already been forgotten.

by Anonymousreply 212October 16, 2024 2:01 PM
Julia Roberts, horrible woman, when she was still a junkie-Jason Patric was delicious looking at the time.

That was 1991, now it's Julia Roberts and who?

by Anonymousreply 213October 16, 2024 4:22 PM

I've seen many celebrities on the street and in restaurants, bars etc. I would never dream of approaching them. It's so tacky and "touristy."

And WTF with autographs? Anyone can sign anything and pretend it's some celebs signature.

by Anonymousreply 214October 16, 2024 5:45 PM

R208, I was introduced to Alan Rickman by mutual colleague, so expected him to be at least civil.

I had no idea he was terminally ill - he did not release that information.

I was disappointed in our encounter but chalked it up to him having a bad day.

I was correct.

by Anonymousreply 215October 16, 2024 6:27 PM

R212 he's back in the UK. Perhaps some of the Brits will chime in.

by Anonymousreply 216October 16, 2024 7:00 PM

R202, R205 what exactly did she say to you, or did you insult her without provocation?

by Anonymousreply 217October 16, 2024 7:08 PM

Andy Cohen lived a few floors above me in Chelsea while he was having his place renovated. He was the rudest human being I've ever met -- rude to everyone in the building, including the very nice staff. What I remember most was that whenever he took the elevator down, he would tell the elevator operator not to stop at the floors where people were also waiting to go down because he didn't want to share the elevator with others. If the operator didn't do that, he'd report them to their boss. Luckily the super hated Andy as much as everyone else in the building.

by Anonymousreply 218October 16, 2024 7:08 PM

R218 What a douche.

by Anonymousreply 219October 16, 2024 7:43 PM

Wow r218 that is major asshole behavior. He's just SO famous and SO important.

by Anonymousreply 220October 16, 2024 8:00 PM

People who treat staff/service workers rudely are just total trash.

by Anonymousreply 221October 16, 2024 8:02 PM

James Corden is mentioned several times in that Reddit thread.

by Anonymousreply 222October 16, 2024 8:51 PM

I didn’t realize that “elevator operator” was still a job! I’m by no means a high end New York real estate expert, but I’ve been to plenty of buildings with doormen and security who site behind a desk and to buildings where your key or code gets you directly from the lobby to your private entrance, but I’ve never been in a building where an attendant rides in the elevator car with you and presses the buttons/determines the stops. I’m shocked that’s still a thing in even the fustiest white-glove co-ops.

by Anonymousreply 223October 16, 2024 9:13 PM

Who was she, r177? I'm picturing someone from CSI NY or some other forgettable show.

by Anonymousreply 224October 16, 2024 9:16 PM

The Andy Cohen story is gross but the elevator operator should have had the balls to say no to him. He was inconveniencing the other residents.

by Anonymousreply 225October 16, 2024 9:18 PM

She wasn't rude, exactly, but I was taking photos for a feature on a charity celebrity skiing event, and everyone was great about posing for photos except Jill Clayburgh, who burned holes in me through "keep away from me!" laser eyes. (I did get a photo of her glaring angrily at me, which needless to say, wasn't used). We ended up using Nia Peebles and that other kid from the TV version of Fame, and Catherine "Daisy Duke" Bach.

It was a long time ago.

by Anonymousreply 226October 16, 2024 9:24 PM

^^^^ Peeples. Oh dear on me.

by Anonymousreply 227October 16, 2024 9:27 PM

Julia Roberts was a heroin addict? This is news to me.

Angelina I can believe. She still looks like one.

by Anonymousreply 228October 16, 2024 9:39 PM
r214 I've seen many celebrities on the street and in restaurants, bars etc. I would never dream of approaching them.

I think it depends how special the star is to you. If they’re one of your top three, lifetime idols, of course it’s fine to try to have a moment with them.

by Anonymousreply 229October 17, 2024 2:31 AM

Fine for the approacher, perhaps, R229 - absolutely not fine for the celebrity unless they are at an event where they are working - red carpet event, for example.

Walking to the subway? Having dinner with a friend? Shopping for groceries? Absolutely not fine.

by Anonymousreply 230October 17, 2024 2:38 AM

Why would you want one of your top three lifetime idols to think you're an annoying douche with no boundaries?

by Anonymousreply 231October 17, 2024 3:02 AM

I've seen tons of celebrities, many of whom I'm a fan of, but I've never intruded.

However, if I ever saw Lynda Carter I would probably wouldn't be able to keep my shit together.

by Anonymousreply 232October 17, 2024 3:15 AM

Most celebrities would be mortified if fans never approached them. It would mean their careers are over.

by Anonymousreply 233October 17, 2024 3:15 AM

R226, Clayburgh was battling cancer for over two decades so that may have been a reason. During Unmarried Woman era, she was considered one of the most genial celebs around.

by Anonymousreply 234October 17, 2024 3:24 AM

Can someone post some of the best ones on Reddit thread? If you have the time. I can’t find the thread.

by Anonymousreply 235October 17, 2024 3:25 AM

This is a great Reddit thread: "What celebrities are actually assholes irl?"

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 236October 17, 2024 3:30 AM

R234 I felt dreadful about Jill Clayburgh, after reading your post and thinking I had been intruding on her cancer - but I looked up the dates, and the episode to which I referred took place during the mid 80s, so I am relieved to see that she was not yet ill and it was just me that pissed her off.

Phew.

by Anonymousreply 237October 17, 2024 3:44 AM

R38 sometimes i use the onscreen keyboard and sometimes i toggle the caps lock and sometimes i don't. why the fuck would i lie about having a broken shift key?

by Anonymousreply 238October 17, 2024 3:56 AM

R235 the Reddit thread is there in the link in the OP. You just have to “click” on it.

Or are you too lazy to read through the Reddit thread but want someone else to serve up a selection of highlights that may take your fancy?

by Anonymousreply 239October 17, 2024 4:01 AM
Julia Roberts was a heroin addict? This is news to me.

It was around the time of "Hook" when she was dating Kiefer Sutherland. She's never looked like that before or since. Today they could fix it in post.

by Anonymousreply 240October 17, 2024 4:02 AM

People get so stupid around celebrities. I took a friend with me to see the opening of "Here Lies Love" the dumb immersive musical about Imelda Marcos written by David Byrne who was there at the opening and standing about 5 feet away from us, swaying to his music and lip syncing to his own songs (adorable yet also a bit weird). My rather dimwitted friend really didn't know who David Byrne was yet after the show when we were having a drink in a nearby bar, the entire cast and team came into the bar along with Byrne and of course my stupid friend got into a tizzy and tried to insist we go interact with him even though he only vaguely had an idea who he was.

I snapped at him, "don't be ridiculous" and he pouted about it. In hindsight, I should have let him talk me into it so I could have said to David Byrne "Sorry to bug you but my friend insisted even though he only has a super vague idea who you are!"

by Anonymousreply 241October 17, 2024 4:16 AM

Julia Roberts was supposed to be intolerable while making HOOK - hated by the entire cast and crew.

I believe part of it was that participating in the special effects was exacting and exhausting. And it must have occurred to her at some point that Tinkerbelle wasn’t a very good role for her. And her smile could’ve save her this time.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 242October 17, 2024 4:25 AM

Hook is just more proof that Spielberg is an overrated director.

by Anonymousreply 243October 17, 2024 4:30 AM

From that second Reddit thread — this made me laugh:
An old college tutor of mine once told me a story that a friend of his was involved in. He was part of a horn section and they were playing with Van Morrison on tour. Morrison is well known for being a cantankerous old bastard and during rehearsals was being a complete dick with the whole band, but in particular the horn section. He wouldn’t allow anyone to get lunch but went off himself to eat. Morrison had left his harmonica lying around so the entire horn section took it and swiped it in all of their arse cracks then put it back ready for him to play.

by Anonymousreply 244October 17, 2024 4:32 AM

I briefly chatted with Laura Dern at an FYC event for that movie she did with Reese Witherspoon a few years ago and I was so excited, 8 loved her — she was friendly until my friend brought up the fact that I was as a teenager a super-fan of Jurassic Park — which I was but I’d have rather asked her about David Lynch now that I’m an adult! - and she went ice cold to us. A few years after I heard through mutual friends that she was a NIGHTMARE CUNT to Mike White during the making of Enlightened and I decided I don’t like her anymore.

by Anonymousreply 245October 17, 2024 4:57 AM

R223 -- The building's on 15th street and it's not what you think. It's an older rental building that never put in buzzers for tenants' apartments. And so the elevator guy also acts as the doorman, since there is no doorman. Thus to go to someone's apartment you enter the building and have to wait for the elevator to return to the lobby so the operator can find out who you want to visit. It completely confuses people who've never been there before because they walk into an empty lobby with no buzzers and no people. Andy was there because he was renovating his place and the apartment he had was, of course, the only really nice one in the building with a terrace that supposedly was the largest in downtown.

by Anonymousreply 246October 17, 2024 5:23 AM

oh yeah i'm reminded about my stepdad who was an extra in the 80s and 90s. he said jim carrey and leo kept to themselves but weren't mean. sharon stone was a bitch. kirsten dunst and the members of b*witched and pele were apparently cool.

by Anonymousreply 247October 17, 2024 5:46 AM

I was in DFW airport and saw actor Jon Voight standing in line, by himself, to board an American Airlines flight. He was in the pre-board or first class line.

He was wearing a gray suit (with a tie, IIRC). He's tall. He was smiling and looking around the airport. He looked completely approachable, almost like he wanted to be identified.

Point is: this was one instance where it would have been OK to approach him, say hello, I love your work, blah blah blah.

by Anonymousreply 248October 17, 2024 6:42 AM

Steven Segal from r236's thread (lmao):
Did you hear the story of how he claimed he couldn't be choked out, so a judo master went "well... okay"? He not only choked him out, but Seagal even shit his pants when it happened.

by Anonymousreply 249October 17, 2024 12:54 PM

R249 I wish that had happened in a pay per view. Many people would pay to see that.

by Anonymousreply 250October 17, 2024 12:58 PM

Agree that the whole idea of an autograph is bizarre, but ours was srill a culture where everyone wrote and received letters. Also it was a way to get a star to look at you, ask your name, and give you a few seconds to stare at them while they looked down and wrote.

Asking for and taking a selfie with a celebrity probably takes about the same amount of time.

by Anonymousreply 251October 17, 2024 1:21 PM

Liam Payne.

He trashed the room, then made a huge mess when he jumped off his balcony and tried to land in the pool.

I had to clean all that shit up.

by Anonymousreply 252October 17, 2024 1:51 PM

Lots of accounts in r236 of Russel Crowe's mea culpa over being a prick in the past. Seems he's softened over the years. I'll bet that hit piece written about him in the Sydney Morning Herald had something to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 253October 17, 2024 1:58 PM

Phillywhore, girl, you nasty.

by Anonymousreply 254October 17, 2024 2:01 PM

Rudest: Clay Aiken.

Sweethearts: Adam Lambert, hands down #1, very huggy; Ronnie Spector; Yoko Ono; Ricky Martin; Little Anthony; Chad Mitchell Trio, all; Carson Kressley; Diana, Mary, and Cindy; Duchess Fergie; and he might not be considered a celebrity here but is a gem of a man, Jim Shore, tchotchke designer extraordinaire.

Rudest Politician: John Edwards, running for VP. Didn't want to sign my political poster OF HIM and John Kerry until I blurted out that Kerry had signed it. I never doubted the National Enquirer.

Nicest/Chattiest Politician: Mario Cuomo; Howard Dean.

by Anonymousreply 255October 17, 2024 3:01 PM

I wish i could hug Howard dean

by Anonymousreply 256October 17, 2024 3:23 PM

R69 - what an amateur. I shit in wigs.

by Anonymousreply 257October 17, 2024 3:29 PM

R256, No hug, but a together photo! He was campaigning for HRC at the time; site was a small diner. Dr. Dean is cute as a button! He signed a little Jim Shore red/white/blue donkey figurine for me. He and I are 1949 Boomers, but he's held up better, haha!

by Anonymousreply 258October 17, 2024 3:53 PM

I shit in bras.

by Anonymousreply 259October 17, 2024 3:53 PM

The list of rude/asshole celebs on Reddit doesn't seem to change very much, does it? Steven Seagal, William Shatner, Ellen, Oprah, Dr. Phil, [italic]et al.[/italic] appear on those threads with wearying familiarity. It's interesting to contrast Reddit's shit list with the usual suspects here-- Lauren Bacall, for example, has just about the worst reputation on DataLounge when it comes to behind-the-scenes horror stories, but I doubt most Redditors even know who she was.

by Anonymousreply 260October 17, 2024 4:57 PM

R260, on the thread listed, the runaway asshole was Tommy Lee Jones with Jared Leto a distant second.

by Anonymousreply 261October 17, 2024 5:24 PM

So many celebrities seem to be miserable assholes.

by Anonymousreply 262October 17, 2024 5:51 PM
R85: Bowie chatted for a long time with my friend, while I sort of stood there trying not to gawk, trying not to fangirl, while inside I was literally exploding.

by Anonymousreply 266October 17, 2024 6:42 PM

The Tommy Lee Jones stories are mostly anecdotes from service workers in San Antonio while the Jared Leto stories are mostly people saying they hate Jared Leto because they heard he's into blood play/fucked an animal/is a serial rapist.

by Anonymousreply 267October 17, 2024 6:57 PM

We have a troll who is very triggered by the word "literally." Yes, your cunt 7th grade English teacher is posting here.

by Anonymousreply 268October 17, 2024 8:18 PM

Literally?

by Anonymousreply 269October 17, 2024 8:46 PM

You absolutely have the right to literally put your ignorance on display.

by Anonymousreply 270October 17, 2024 8:49 PM

It's contemporay language, literally. Most people don't pretend they live in an Edith Wharton novel, unlike some of our eldergays.

by Anonymousreply 271October 17, 2024 8:51 PM
A few years after I heard through mutual friends that she was a NIGHTMARE CUNT to Mike White during the making of Enlightened and I decided I don’t like her anymore.

R245 She became a cunt once it dawned on her that Enlightened was intended as a parody of women exactly like Laura Dern.

by Anonymousreply 272October 17, 2024 8:54 PM

Kiefer Sutherland is a notorious asshole.

by Anonymousreply 273October 17, 2024 8:59 PM

To R272, Julia Roberts did it to him.

Turned him bad!

by Anonymousreply 274October 17, 2024 9:05 PM

No, R271, it’s contemporary stupidity, spread by idiots like you.

by Anonymousreply 275October 18, 2024 1:12 AM

R272 I don't think Mike White and Laura Dern held anything against each other. He wrote the White Lotus character that was played by Connie Britton. It was written for Dern but she became unavailable. She then contributed a cameo to White Lotus: Sicily

by Anonymousreply 276October 18, 2024 5:20 AM

I’m glad Connie Britton played that role R276. I always love her in everything. She was perfect. I always see Laura Dern as
.Laura Dern.

by Anonymousreply 277October 18, 2024 1:03 PM

Should have told Dern she was amazing as the purple haired lady in the prom dress in Star Wars.

by Anonymousreply 278October 18, 2024 1:24 PM

R107 I love how in that interview, despite calling him at 6 in the morning, she didn’t even say “Good Morning” just went straight and reamed his ass a new one.

by Anonymousreply 279October 18, 2024 3:53 PM

R276,

I think they've made amends. But things got brutal between the two of them while making ENLIGHTENED.

by Anonymousreply 280October 18, 2024 3:55 PM

The use of "literally" that people are objecting to on here marks you as stupid the minute you do it, R275. As does saying "like" all the time as in "so, we were, like, talking and then he, like, comes up to us". Both are contemporary usage, all right, but only by the very young, the stupid and the vapid.

by Anonymousreply 281October 18, 2024 4:10 PM

r281 it's time to put down the gin and go prepare Mother's colonic.

by Anonymousreply 282October 18, 2024 4:28 PM

I’d say the rudest I ever met was Liam Payne.

I hope that guy takes a flying leap.

by Anonymousreply 283October 18, 2024 6:18 PM

(This has to do with people getting stupid around celebrities, not rudeness)- When we were kids we were stuck in traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway and Larry Storch was in the lane next to us.

My brother and I, in the back seat of course, were all excited because it was Corporal Agarn from F Troop! My mother said "Larry Storch! I hate that guy!" Then she demanded we hand her her pocketbook so she could do her makeup and look nice for the "hated" Larry Storch if we got next to his car again.

My brother and I still laugh about this, I think we were on our way back to Massachusetts from the World's Fair. (The 1965 one, not the 1939 one, you infants!)

by Anonymousreply 284October 18, 2024 7:10 PM

I used to work on the Marsha Wallace show. Her very very short lived talk show in the 90s. She was a GRADE A cunt. THe most unfriendly person I have ever met. When the show was cancelled they had a wrap party. Marcia was there and I put my arm around her and said 'You are the best person to work for we will miss you.." I think she could have killed me if she wanted too lol.

by Anonymousreply 285October 19, 2024 2:20 AM

OH FUCK... I meant Marsha Warfield lol....damn Edibles.

by Anonymousreply 286October 19, 2024 2:21 AM

Glad to know that, r286.

by Anonymousreply 287October 19, 2024 2:26 AM

No, it was Marsha Mason!

by Anonymousreply 288October 19, 2024 2:32 AM

Marsha! Marsha! Marcia!

by Anonymousreply 289October 19, 2024 3:10 AM

For a second, I was heartbroken to think Mrs Krabapple was a bitch!!!

by Anonymousreply 290October 19, 2024 3:37 AM

Lea Michelle. I don't want to go into it, however she is the biggest celebrity cunt I have ever met.

by Anonymousreply 291October 19, 2024 4:03 AM

Sorry, but thanks for nothing, R291.

by Anonymousreply 292October 19, 2024 4:13 AM

I'm so relieved to hear that, R285/286. I couldn't give a fuck about Marsha Warfield, who looks like a sour cunt, but Marcia Wallace is beloved.

I was once dragged to one of those Hollywood autograph shows about 15 years ago in Burbank. It was my first (and only) time ever attending one. The sight that broke my heart was a somewhat bereft looking Marcia Wallace trying to keep a welcoming smile on her face, but no one was coming up to her. I felt horrible for her.

by Anonymousreply 293October 19, 2024 4:25 AM

R293, that is sad. Seems like some Simpsons fans would want her autograph, etc.

by Anonymousreply 294October 19, 2024 4:27 AM

That's what I would have thought, too, R294. And she certainly wasn't the only one there who wasn't being mobbed, but most celebs who weren't looked more relieved than anything. The only people I was interested in eyeballing were Sid & Marty Krofft and Billie Hayes. No interest in autographed photos (or spending money on them) but I wound up doing so when I saw that Hayes was donating her proceeds to an animal rescue organization. We had a lovely conversation and I just adored her.

by Anonymousreply 295October 19, 2024 4:35 AM

Are there any talk show hosts who aren't complete assholes? That job seems to attract a lot of unpleasant people.

by Anonymousreply 296October 19, 2024 4:58 AM

I was with my friend at a farmer's market in Santa Monica. I got so excited when I saw K.D. Lang. I had to tell her Constant Craving was my all-time favorite recording and had played it hundreds of times. She gave me this nasty grin, said "Fuck You" under her breath and quickly went in the other direction. I thought what a fucking bitch. I couldn't believe it.

My friend took me aside, asked me "what the hell did you say to Lyle Lovett?"

by Anonymousreply 297October 19, 2024 7:05 AM

Are you Jonathon Groff, R291?

by Anonymousreply 298October 19, 2024 11:17 AM

r291 she shit in my wig.

by Anonymousreply 299October 20, 2024 2:04 AM

I am sad to share this because I haaaaaate him so much but Pat Buchanan is incredibly friendly, easy-going, nice, etc. I worked at a media company in DC where talking heads would come in and shoot their segments/interviews. He was delightful. Always asked about us, wasn’t unctuous, was sincere. It’s such cognitive dissonance.

by Anonymousreply 300October 20, 2024 3:29 AM

I waited on Newt Gingrich and his second wife in Tyson's Corner, VA and he was very nice and a good tipper. He's still evil, though. No matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney.

by Anonymousreply 301October 20, 2024 3:57 AM

Met Bill Cosby at an event for a library. He was every bit the asshole that everyone now knows him to be. On top of squeezing my chest (female). He also insulted the administrative staff for not having proper lighting ready for him and told another person she shouldn't be filmed in the PSA they were doing to promote adult literacy because her accent was not American.

by Anonymousreply 302October 20, 2024 4:44 AM

R218- He probably hit on and or flirted with all of the HOT guys in the building and was rejected by ALL of them.

by Anonymousreply 303October 20, 2024 5:13 AM
My brother and I, in the back seat of course, were all excited because it was Corporal Agarn from F Troop! My mother said "Larry Storch! I hate that guy!"

Aw. I knew Larry Storch personally.

One of the nicest guys you would ever meet.

by Anonymousreply 304October 20, 2024 10:56 AM

I’ve met tons of celebrities over the years, and luckily not many of them have been mean.

The nicest were Seann William Scott (I know, I know), Selma Blair, Kathy Bates, Jane Krakowski, Rhea Perlman, NEil Patrick Harris, Lucy Liu, Dwayne Johnson, Aaron Neville
all I can think of right now.

I’ve met a bunch of low level semi famous authors and Broadway people.

I “met” in the loosest sense of the word, a few famous people who give you a glare like “I know you recognize me—DO NOT TALK TO ME”—Matthew Broderick, Liev Schreiber, Colbie Smulders
some old lady soap actress, can’t think of her name..

I would never think of just gushing and gushing over a celebrity or asking for an autograph. UNLESS I ever meet my favorite celebrity—all bets are off. I don’t know if I’d be cool. It’s

Julianne Moore, SERIOUSLY.

by Anonymousreply 305October 20, 2024 11:54 AM

R304 my mother hated everybody.

by Anonymousreply 306October 20, 2024 5:11 PM

R305, why do you say "I know, I know" about Seann William Scott? Is he not known to be nice?

by Anonymousreply 307October 20, 2024 5:41 PM

Barbara Fairchild called me an asshole because I asked her to autograph an 8-track tape of hers I found inside a flooded basement one time.

The late Jeanne Cooper was an absolute sweetheart. Brenda Dickson was is a cunt with a capital C.

by Anonymousreply 310October 21, 2024 2:59 PM

I can second Jeanne Cooper. Met her once, she was warm and charming. She knew her job but it seemed more than that. She radiated warmth.

by Anonymousreply 311October 21, 2024 3:55 PM

I'll add Jess Walton didn't play the game.... she was with Cooper at the time and walked off. Not rude, but not interested.

by Anonymousreply 312October 21, 2024 4:00 PM

(R236) thank you. Appreciate it. (R238) Piss off, Karen.

From the infamous James Corden AMA Reddit:
Hey James. You won’t remember me but me and my friends sat at a table next to you and Harry Styles + some others in Manchurian Legends in London’s Chinatown about 6 years ago. We didn’t bother you but you were a massively entitled cunt who yelled and treated the waitstaff like shit and when one of my party politely suggested you calm down, you got really aggressive and threatening (in a chubby way. Like a boozy panda.) So my question is this; why did Harry seem so cool, while you were such a massive throbbing bellend?
My brother's girlfriend played one of your videos on my YouTube account and now it keeps recommending more of them to me. Do you know how to get it to stop doing that?
Ever thought about coming back to the UK? And if so, what can we do to stop you?

by Anonymousreply 314October 22, 2024 4:25 AM

Tons of stories about what an asshole James Corden is. He's basically the male version of Ellen, but since he was nowhere near Ellen's level of popularity and cultural relevance he didn't get much media attention like she did.

by Anonymousreply 315October 22, 2024 4:27 AM

For the Jeanne Cooper fans: consider reading (well, listening to) her audio book: Not Young, Still Restless (in her unique voice).

Anyway, a friend worked in a resort ('80s or '90s). Jeanne Cooper was staying there. One of my friend's coworkers, I think it was a housekeeper, was a huge Y&R fan. Jeanne took down this woman's name and address and mailed her a photo of the cast, autographed by everyone in the cast.

I realize Jeanne didn't mail the photo, herself.

by Anonymousreply 316October 22, 2024 4:31 AM

Cordon's obvious is laying low to let Americans forget about what an asshole he is for a while. He's trying to salvage his rep in the UK by making a finale of the beloved sitcom Gavin & Stacey in the UK after several years. I hope to God the UK public says "Thanks, but you're still a cunt" after they get their finale.

My hate for him is also visceral because he didn't deserve the role in Into The Woods, one of many musical roles that could have deservedly gone to somebody else.

by Anonymousreply 317October 22, 2024 4:31 AM

The James Corden AMA on Reddit is a classic. I've never seen the word "cunt" used more in any other Reddit thread.
Has there ever been an occasion where a celebrity would have rather slammed their lips into the car door instead of spending another moment in his company because he’s such an awful cunt?
Don't care about you being an asshole really, but this AMA taught me you're also a filthy anti-union scab. My question is do you think anybody will care when your miserable career finally withers?
Massive cunt in person, I saw a league of their own filming live, threw multiple tantrums over minor things at the production staff, with him being incredibly rude to them, which made the other regulars seem very awkward like it was usual, between each take the other celebs would be chatting amongst themselves - bantering about, James was glued to his phone. At the end of the filming people got up to go get pictures with James and he massively kicked off shouting at people to go away and to go back to their seats and the few he did let have pictures with he was moody as. Afterwards we went into a "VIP" tent as such for a beer (we were guests of people - anonymity for obviously reasons) and the celebs were going to be joing us, the other celebs came in and spoke with people, James came in for a brief moment, someone asked politely asked for a quick picture, he abruptly said "later" and the fucked off to I'm guessing his changing room for the rest of the night as they didn't get their picture before kick out time.
Seeing him like that made me realise everything you see of his on TV is a complete persona. And really his natural personality is just, a complete self entitled cunt.
The argument that he had with Patrick Stewart at an awards show was because the cunt was on his phone or something... while giving out awards.

by Anonymousreply 320October 22, 2024 1:49 PM

I listen to Smartless all the time. The other day they bandied about the question of enemies, based on the question "who dislikes you enough it would make you cross to the other side of the street if you saw them coming?"

Bateman said nobody, quite definitively. On here, there are claims he's a real asshole. So either he's entirely clueless, a shameless misrememberer or he could have just let it pass but didn't. He was absolute, which constrasts with what I read here (which could be total bullshit.) Anyway, it just struck me, is all.

by Anonymousreply 321October 22, 2024 3:39 PM

Has to be the not-soon-enough-late Matthew Perry. The one of many stories of the young girls who waved to him from their car and he flipped them off. RIP Snark

by Anonymousreply 322October 22, 2024 7:04 PM

Just sayin-maybe the fan following gets so tiresome and dangerous that celebrities are just over it-we will never know that experience being non-celebs.

by Anonymousreply 323October 22, 2024 7:14 PM

Then they can move to a farm in Ecuador or something where they don’t have paps and stupid fans.

by Anonymousreply 324October 22, 2024 7:18 PM

On the subject of being followed and the paparazzi, Jay Leno did this funny thing once. He would wave and move his lips, but make no sound, essentially pretending that the videographer’s microphone was off or broken. It’s very funny because you can hear the cub reporter muttering “awww come on, Jay”.

by Anonymousreply 325October 22, 2024 8:30 PM

R324 They don't even have to go that extreme. Just moving away from the NYC/LA influence zone and they can live somewhat normal lives as long as they don't draw attention to themselves with extreme shit.

by Anonymousreply 326October 22, 2024 9:32 PM

There are celebrities who live in CT and they're never photographed.

by Anonymousreply 327October 22, 2024 11:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 331October 23, 2024 2:24 AM

You got off lucky.

by Anonymousreply 332October 23, 2024 2:25 AM

R331, was this pre-1994 OJ or post-1994 OJ?

by Anonymousreply 333October 23, 2024 2:27 AM
On an 80% empty flight, OJ Simpson just grabs the newspaper I had put on the seat across the aisle from me and takes it back to 1st class.

That would make me feel stabby.

by Anonymousreply 334October 23, 2024 2:28 AM

1992, he was actually very chatty, but didn't bother to ask.

by Anonymousreply 335October 23, 2024 2:30 AM

I have heard that OJ was very talkative and outgoing with friends and strangers alike, often to the extent that he made other people uncomfortable. There's a post on Reddit from a woman who wrote that she was having dinner with her fiancé and (pre-1994) OJ sat down at their table unbidden and proceeded to flirt with her and would not leave. She said that despite the weirdness of the situation he was amusing and charismatic.

by Anonymousreply 336October 23, 2024 2:40 AM

Yes, I can't honestly describe him as rude. He might have been more charismatic if it didn't look like he hadn't slept in days.

by Anonymousreply 340October 23, 2024 3:39 AM

Contrary to r296's experience k.d. lang (kathryn dawn lang does not capitalize her name) was perfectly cordial to me when I rushed up to her leaving the building after her February 2018 Seattle concert. But I'm a true fan unobsessed with her only single that charted in the U.S.

It was probably a Sunday (her favourite day of the week) in the 1990s when you interrupted her shopping for fresh produce at the farmer's market. She was pre-Buddhist and possibly premenstrual.

She's also an introvert, as am I. Absolutely fucking gorgeous. The woman radiates peace and gentleness; I had an overwhelming urge to be hugged by her although I restrained myself. She allowed me to hold her huge, callused hand before signing two men's LPs - in that half minute we were a committed couple, our dogs and cats befriended each other, children were born - then I let go and after she had signed a couple of autographs though before she got into this boat of a car I blurted out I was Canadian too (it seemed important for her to know this). "That's good, that's really good!", she laughed. I wanted to say even stupider, pointless things but she and her small entourage had to leave.

by Anonymousreply 341October 23, 2024 5:20 AM

R341, the person the other poster approached was not k.d. lang.

It was Lyle Lovett, whom the other person (R297, BTW) mistook for k.d. lang.

Thus the chilly response.

by Anonymousreply 342October 23, 2024 5:58 AM

My favorite way to describe OJ is dead.

by Anonymousreply 343October 23, 2024 6:00 AM

R341 were you able to share a slice of your nutloaf with her?

by Anonymousreply 344October 23, 2024 5:12 PM

R107 Faye’s hardware must’ve been [italic]that[/italic] good for Terry O’Neill to not run away when she suggested they pretend that Liam was their biological son to the press.

by Anonymousreply 345October 26, 2024 5:56 AM
and everyone was great about posing for photos except Jill Clayburgh, who burned holes in me through "keep away from me!"

Was Jill sick at the time? She later died of cancer. I met her a couple of times when she was doing a show at at a theater I worked. She was probably one of the most down-to-earth, casual, and friendliest "stars" I met. But everyone has an off day, I suppose. Maybe it's the way she was approached for the photos?

by Anonymousreply 346October 27, 2024 4:12 PM

I received strong "keep away from me!" vibes from George Harrison at a post- F1 party once. He probably saw my eyes widen when I first noticed him because I had never considered the possibility he would be there. I tried to stay cool (and steered well clear of him) but I'm sure he easily recognised that I'm a Beatles fan. I didn't blame him for wanting to stay "off-duty".

by Anonymousreply 347October 30, 2024 11:15 PM

R347 Did anything strike you about his in-person physical appearance, other than the off-putting vibes?

by Anonymousreply 348October 31, 2024 5:10 AM

R347 - I wonder what celebrities think when they recognize the look on a person's face the moment they realize who they are. Is it scary, daunting, exhilarating, annoying? I remember working at a hotel once where celebrities would come and go often (NYC), and out of nowhere Shirley Jones and Marty Engels pop up in front of me at the desk. When I looked up my eyes must have popped a bit. I was thinking in my head, "Mrs. Partridge!" but Shirley must have seen it and gave me a steely stare of death as in "Don't even." Marty on the other hand was super nice.

by Anonymousreply 349October 31, 2024 1:08 PM

I was rude to a celebrity unintentionally. I saw Barabara Barrie on the street who of course I had seen in Company. I was a kid and went up to her and said could I have your autograph Miss Harris? She looked at me coldly and said 'My name is not Harris.' I then realized my mistake and was mortified. I was with a friend who found it funny. I haven't spoken to him in years but I'm sure he remembers it. She was wonderful in Breaking away.

by Anonymousreply 350October 31, 2024 3:52 PM

R350,

I've worked with Barbara Barrie on multiple occasions and she lives a block away from me, so I run into her on the street, and she's a total sweetheart. But even sweethearts have their limits... :)

by Anonymousreply 351October 31, 2024 5:24 PM

I didn't really have time to study Harrison in any meaningful way, R348, I was so determined to not be a gawker. However, he looked damn good (this was the late-'90s). I felt pretty chuffed at simply rubbing shoulders (metaphorically) with a Beatle. There were about 30 of us in a roped off area in a nightclub celebrating after the race, so I was already lucky to be hanging out in such exclusive company. There were a few F1 drivers along with some of their team members but, after all this time, the only person I can remember being there was George. In that moment I was starstruck. Thankfully I had presence of mind to be discreet and not bother him.

by Anonymousreply 352October 31, 2024 5:55 PM

I hope the Shirley Booth comment was a joke. Anyway Hazel was in the mid 60s so is the poster 95 years old?

by Anonymousreply 353October 31, 2024 6:00 PM

Not necessarily, I remember Hazel because my babysitter liked to watch. 95 is more than 25 years off for me, if I'm fortunate.

by Anonymousreply 354October 31, 2024 7:29 PM

I'm 61 (born in 63) and I remember Hazel...it was on TV for years , in reruns. Most sitcoms from the early 60s were available well into the very early 70s. And, of course the big hits, like Gilligan and Bewitched, lasted longer than that.

by Anonymousreply 355October 31, 2024 11:52 PM

I think Hazel is airing on AntennaTV. It was last year.

by Anonymousreply 356October 31, 2024 11:54 PM

The very late Boomers and the 60s born Gen Xers were the last generations who really watched LOTS of older TV shows and films, stuff from way before they were born because...they had no other options. Most of us only had 3 or 4 TV channels to watch (I was lucky and had 11 growing up because we lived equal distance from more than one TV market) and they all programmed old stuff. Once cable started circa 1980 and started taking off (not to mention video games taking over), kids stopped watching the old stuff, for the most part.

by Anonymousreply 357October 31, 2024 11:57 PM

Ellen was rude the 2nd time we met whereas she was lovely the 1st time. Julia Roberts was adorablr. Jennifer Hudson was lovely then not so lovely 2nd time. Olly Murs is great. Angela Lansbury was fantastic. Kylie Minogue was everything youd want her to be. Simon Cowell was very charming and very short. Song writer david foster is a prick(wrote the Bodyguards songs) Kim Cattrall standoffish. Laurie Metcaffe is so down to earth. Colin Farrell nice but dismissive..he was busy. Ray Winston was great. Will I Am is so bizarre.. like a man child..huge gay vibes. or maybe just Not str8 vibes. Ant and Dec are great. Dermot O'leary great. Ruth Madoc was adorable. Nicole Shirzinger a dote. Graham Norton surprisingly reserved but nice. Larry Hagman and Linda Grey were the absolute best. Joan Collins cautious and wary..but star icon presence..but frail. Sophia Loren stared me straight in the eyes...so frail and her dress looked like it had scaffolding under it..but a real star with beautiful calm presence. Helen Mirren is fun and cheeky. 99% are lovely. Sinead OConnor was very tiny and reserved..shy even..but so pretty and you wanted to protect her. Liam Cunningham is a gorgeous man. Kelly Osborne is down to earth, fun and gossipy. Pamela Anderson adorable.

R358, what do you do?

by Anonymousreply 359November 1, 2024 2:20 AM
[R358], what do you do?

Name drop, r359.

by Anonymousreply 360November 1, 2024 3:34 AM

R107 While I’m sure Terry O’Neill certainly didn’t help Faye’s career, it was really her first husband Peter Wolfe and his exposure to meth/heroin/etc. that did far more long lasting damage to Faye’s career.

by Anonymousreply 361November 1, 2024 6:56 AM

Glad to hear Ant and Dec are kind pros. Given they're like the herpes of British media, they work with many, many people behind the scenes.

by Anonymousreply 362November 1, 2024 7:08 AM

Why would Peter Wolf's drug problems do lasting damage to Faye's career? Is that one of the many things Faye blames for her career falling apart after Mommie, Dearest?

Faye turned 40 the year after Mommie Dearest and Hollywood has never been kind to actresses after they turn 40. She also had the disadvantage of having a bit of a reputation for being a pill and that didn't help either. She also made some poor choices and dithered about when she should have been seeking good roles and projects. But, narcissistic divas think things should just come their way without putting much effort into the process.

by Anonymousreply 363November 1, 2024 7:30 AM
I think Hazel is airing on AntennaTV. It was last year.

AntennaTV and FETV daily, so eight year olds know who "Hazel" is.

by Anonymousreply 364November 1, 2024 10:45 AM

R355 My Little Margie & Our Miss Brooks were my favorites.

by Anonymousreply 365November 1, 2024 10:53 AM

R364 What 8YO are watching AntennaTV?

by Anonymousreply 366November 1, 2024 11:25 AM

I would think that if Shirley Booth were making those demands it would have been during Hazel's prime time run in the mid 60s. I'm old, though not close to 95, but only remember it from reruns.

I have never heard anything about her personally positive or negative.

by Anonymousreply 367November 1, 2024 1:14 PM

I guess we could ask Terry Moore and Tiana Elg.

by Anonymousreply 368November 1, 2024 1:17 PM

Booth never had children and wasn't married when she did Hazel. She was known for being standoffish with other actors when she worked on the stage.

by Anonymousreply 369November 1, 2024 1:26 PM

R363 she just revealed she suffers from Bipolar disorder.

Cocaine Heroin and Meth—which she was exposed to heavily during her marriage—are the last things someone with BPD needs

by Anonymousreply 379November 3, 2024 5:36 AM

R363- Faye Dunaway was rather washed up by 1980. Her last movie The Eyes Of Laura Mars was a total dud. Mommie Dearest did not ruin her career.

by Anonymousreply 380November 3, 2024 4:19 PM

No. Her last movie was The Champ. And both it and Eyes of Laura Mars were box office successes.

by Anonymousreply 381November 3, 2024 4:21 PM

1980 also brought Dunaway and Sinatra in The First Deadly Sin, a box office disaster that recouped less than half of its $8 million budget.

by Anonymousreply 382November 3, 2024 5:04 PM

Kelly Osbourne was an absolute cunt to me. I went up to her at a party and asked how often she pukes a day to maintain her stick thin figure. She called me a cunt. How dare her.

by Anonymousreply 383November 3, 2024 7:22 PM

How dare her??!!!

by Anonymousreply 384November 3, 2024 8:01 PM

R383 ooooooh! You showed she!

by Anonymousreply 385November 3, 2024 8:19 PM

R361 while I do agree with you that she should never have given Peter Wolfe the time of day, you’re overestimating how bad he was for her career.
