Quote from article:
"O’Donnell told Variety that she first received a letter from Lyle Menendez 30 years ago but that her former co-host on The View, Barbara Walters, told her to ignore it. "
Nobody fact checks. O'Donnell was not on the view 30 years ago. It was 2006.

Since when has Rosie O Donnelly been besties with the Menedez killer brothers?

R4 after her bestie friendship with Boy George came to an end.

R1 Rosie and Walters were 'friends' long before Walters asked her to join 'The View' in 2006, so this is very possible. It doesn't say she showed it to Walters when she joined 'The View', it just described Walters as her 'former cohost' on the show, which is an accurate description.
I believe the two of them originally met and became friends in 1993 when Walters interviewed her after co-starring in 'A League of Their Own' and 'Sleepless in Seattle'. It was during these early interviews that Walters found her a 'natural' for talking with others, and suggested she do her own talk show (from what was said back then). I believe this is why Rosie had so much respect for Walters since then.

This is the same woman who said she would never have a male nanny around her kids and all the time she's been pen palling a convicted murderer?
Make it make sense.

What is it with these celebrities who become besties with killers? Are they so bored with having so many material things they need nothing else so they need to be close to psychopaths to make their lives more interesting? Maybe she'll put him up and he'll unalive her.

Inserting herself into this mess will surely backfire.
For a smart woman, she seems to make a lot of bad choices.
Once the story fades from the general publics' radar, she'll lose interest.
Her friendships never seem to last anyway.

True - and then she likes to discuss those bad choices on social media and in interviews, to get more attention.
