Is hip-hop going out of fashion with the Diddy scandal?

One thing that this Diddy scandal is revealing is how corrupt and disgusting the people in the hip hop music industry are.

First, there was R. Kelly. He would sleep with minors promising them record careers.

Now there is Diddy.

Chris Brown is a domestic abuser.

And in 2024, there have not been a whole lot of hip hop songs hitting the top 10, it’s mostly been pop and country.

Why would hip hop remain popular now, knowing what people it’s associated with?

Make music WHITE again!

It's not the music or its color. It's the nasty perps inside of this world, the down low culture, and the abuse of power. And that because of the money, fame and power of the abusers and potential blackmail, no one talked - or very few- for decades. Hip Hop itself is fine and sends its love.

Given your logic, film should have gone out of style with Charlie Chaplin, not to mention Weinstein. Or MAGA should be dead due to the scandals that dog Trump. Hip Hop will eventually be surpassed by a newer thing, but that will be because its time is over. Make music WHITE again? Yeah, more Karen Carpenter please.

OP is brain damaged. Diddy must’ve fucked him in his ass.

So just country?

by Anonymousreply 4October 1, 2024 10:15 PM

Its not just hip hop. There are disgusting powerful men in every genre of the music industry as well as the entertainment industry as a whole.

by Anonymousreply 5October 1, 2024 10:24 PM

Yes, OP, we need more Lou Pearlmans.

Erm, okay Adolf.

And is there anything whiter than Schlager music?

It's not music, it's gang banger crap. Look at what they call artists and tell I'm wrong. They are mostly criminals.

Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Handel, Vivaldi, Debussy, Verdi, Chopin, Puccini, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Frederick Loewe, Stephen Sondheim, Burt Bachararach, Frank Loesser, Richard Rodgers, Harold Arlen, Harry Warren, Jule Styne, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerry Herman, Burton Lane....just to name a few.

R Kelly and Chris Brown aren’t hip hop. They’re R&B.

by Anonymousreply 12October 2, 2024 12:00 AM

And they're criminals.

by Anonymousreply 13October 2, 2024 12:02 AM

R1, OP is a disgusting bigoted racist… but please don’t disparage Karen Carpenter to make your (extremely salient) point.

by Anonymousreply 14October 2, 2024 12:13 AM

R6, Lou Perlman isn’t at the same fame level as Diddy or R. Kelly. Lou Perlman wasn’t a performer whose songs you listened to.

by Anonymousreply 15October 3, 2024 3:55 PM

Oh really, R15? And.......?

by Anonymousreply 16October 3, 2024 4:26 PM

R16, part of what makes music popular is the artist himself, as opposed to the producer behind the artist.

If hip hop = P. Diddy, and people stop liking P. Diddy…

It’s like if Nazis declared carrots as their favorite food, more people would quit eating carrots.

R4 Rock from 60-90 was pretty white. From Beatles, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin to Nirvana.

If rock musicians have been inspired by blues, it does not mean that they have not developed their own style. Besides, early American black music is a mixture of both African and European influence. Jazz is music based on African rhythm and European harmony and instruments. It is easy to perceive this is not purely African music.

First of all I am the kind of person who despises the idiotic concept of cultural appropriation (because what then, should blacks stop using everything that was created by white cultures, starting with English language? You have created such a pandering condescending culture towards black in US that it has become abnormal.)

But, I do believe that white youth should start or should I say return creating some popular culture of their own and having their own style, because this imitation of black urban men has become pathetic. Particularly when it is done by upper middle class sissies.

P.Diddy hasn’t been relevant in hip hop for years r17. His likability has no impact. People didn’t like him even when he was relevant.

If this theory actually worked, Garth Brooks just killed Country

by Anonymousreply 21October 4, 2024 12:29 AM

R18 you are a real ignoramus about music history.

by Anonymousreply 22October 4, 2024 1:01 AM

^ Yep, OP and r18 are klan grannies

by Anonymousreply 23October 4, 2024 1:38 AM

Sadly, it won't go out of fashion. It's all about rape, murder, molestation, intimidation, sex trafficking, drugs, tax evasion, blackmail, stds, prostitution, and money. Moronic people are drawn to it like moths. I question anyone's intelligence if they appreciate Rap or Hip Hop. Just a bunch of low lifes.

by Anonymousreply 24October 4, 2024 1:57 AM

Yeah - Rape and Beat

by Anonymousreply 25October 4, 2024 2:12 AM

R18 is correct about music history.
