Is the trans fad finally over in 2024?

Disclaimer: I’m not talking about real transgender people with gender dysphoria. They’ve always existed and always will.

I’m talking about the gender fad, nonbinary, “my pronouns are they/them,” there are a thousand genders, etc. It just doesn’t seem to have the buy-in that it did even a year ago, and the democratic leadership seems to have distanced themselves from it. Even my girl Kamala, who used to introduce herself by stating her pronouns, has stopped. Come to think of it, there is nary a mention of LGBTQ at all from the democrats.

I hope so, with the same disclaimer you stated. I've been waiting out the pronoun thing and think I might just make it through without ever having to state them.

I've always felt it was no one's business and that it was intrusive to ask someone. It doesn't seem so to people who have bought into the "need" for it, but it really is. If you can't tell what I am, feel free to use any pronoun you like for me. Asking everyone to state their pronouns is just like assuming that everyone belongs to the same church you do. I don't believe in your god, so why should I pretend?

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 2September 29, 2024 5:32 AM

It's not over. Its seems to have lightened some, but not over.

Gender fad, not trans fad. Non-binaries aren't trans.

And yes, it's calmed down substantially. As we all knew it would eventually, except for our crazy trolls who even last year were swearing up and down that it was THE issue that would tank the Democrats in 2024.

I think we have the fall of Roe to thank for it. That has helped focus the minds unlike anything else, as it showed people what we lost while we were busy fighting completely inconsequential battles for the 0.1% of the population.

I follow the #transcrowdfund hashtag on Twitter. A few years ago there were dozens of posts a day with people looking for money for gender surgery. Now there's just a few posts per day, mostly for things like electrical bills and rent.

I think even a lot of pro-trans people have grown weary and the pendulum has swung back to: Certainly they deserve rights and politeness, but we're not going to be bullied any longer or parroting the "stunning and brave" plotline.

by Anonymousreply 5September 29, 2024 5:46 AM

No. People have just stopped taking them seriously so they’re less visible now in the mainstream media.

I have an female opposing counsel who uses they/them pronouns and puts them in her signature.

by Anonymousreply 7September 29, 2024 6:12 AM

What is "gender dysphoria", OP?

by Anonymousreply 8September 29, 2024 12:37 PM

Any chance, to disapprove…

I’m attending a conference next month and on the website one of the speakers writes about their gender, identity, pronouns, etc. At the very end there is one sentence about what the program is actually about. Exhausting.

I think people have enough and see how fucked up it all is. They seem more willing to speak out against it all.

We need this..

There’s no such thing as Twitter and all the trannies left for Bluesky.

I'm not the poster you're quoting but I will deadname "X" every chance I get.

When I go to a Broadway show the Playbill has stopped with the pronouns for most of the cast. I think as a fad it’s peaked. I hope the mania for teen girls cutting off their breasts is also fading.

They've moved onto litter boxes in the school restrooms for those identifying as felines.
