Oscars 1989- Young Hollywood performs at the Oscars
They had young actors perform a song about being future Oscar winners at the 1989 ceremony. Ironically, not a single one of them went on to become an Oscar nominee yet alone winner. Which is fine. But just ironic.
The only one who received an Oscar nod wasn’t even in the performance, he was in the audience, River Phoenix.

Most of them faded away not too many years later.

This was the Snow White Oscars, produced by Allan Carr in what could only be described as a coke and alcohol-induced stupor.

Olivia Newton-John’s first husband, Matt Lattanzi, was in that group. He had already starred in several movies by 1989. None of them made him a star in his own right. My Tutor, Rich & Famous, Diving In, etc. He was simply known to most as Olivia’s hot looking husband.
