New world tour (for which she's... finally.. coming back to North America), new follow up album for Tension and a new single and video in which she is serving FACE and ATTITUDE.
Ugh. Do YouTube links no longer work on here? Muriel, get your shit together. Well, you can find it within this article, too.

I love her for starting her tour in Perth, Western Australia.
I don't care if she got paid by our government for doing that, it's still good for us. We are still basically a small country town, but hopefully people will come in to see her first show.

She’s already working on her next album after Tension II. She wants to take inspiration from Impossible Princess. This bitch never stops working and thank god because she somehow manages to always deliver. One of the few people in pop music I can actually stand.

This is the career Madonna should have had at this stage in her career.

Madge should do some experimental album like Ray Of Light or Music

Great video to the new single. I’ve got tickets for her show already.

You just don't see her doing stupid stuff (like toilet videos) or being a bitch.

I like the extended mix, too -- especially the outro.
R7 - jealous! Where are you seeing her??
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 30, 2024 3:17 AM |
sorry, aforementioned extended mix here...

Besides "padam padam", I couldnt name another song by her.

She put on a great show in vegas...Also was lucky enough to see her only tour in the states years ago...Was an amazing show

R13 That's all.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 30, 2024 4:38 AM |
R12 - she's actually had two North American Tours. The 'For You, For Me' tour in 2009 and the Aphrodite tour in 2011. Both were great and kind of remarkable for how much spectacle she packed into smaller arenas and amphitheaters.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 30, 2024 6:07 AM |
R9 I’m seeing her in Melbourne. Can’t wait.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 30, 2024 12:16 PM |

I saw the Aphrodite show at the Hollywood Bowl. It was spectacular.

Bagged myself a ticket! I'm a long time fan (I used to dance to my sister's tape when I was a kid!) but never seen her live before
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 4, 2024 12:42 PM |
I'm a touch skeptical about our Kylie selling out arenas in places like Denver and Phoenix, but I imagine the LA, SF, NY, Miami dates will sell very well. Would be interesting to pull up Sniffies and Scruff on those evenings!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 5, 2024 2:39 AM |
Just got our tickets for the second Madison Square Garden night! Just went on sale this morning and selling very briskly. It's nice to see Kylie have arena-level success in the U.S. this late in her career.

Got my ticket for Boston!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 11, 2024 4:50 PM |
She's coming to Chase Center in SF and I will be workin' that show! Woo hoo!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 11, 2024 4:56 PM |
Hope Boston goes through, R26. Personally, I'd be a little nervous about being a ticketholder for any shows other than LA, SF, NY and Miami.

Romy and Rita Ora are opening for her U.S. / Canada shows. Meh. At least I won't have to worry about getting to the venue early!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 11, 2024 5:02 PM |
I got floor seats in Atlanta! Caught the Aphrodite show in NYC and was on the floor with Hugh Jackman in the box seats just above me. But it was hard to see at that theater. So excited as I thought Vegas was going to be it for the states and I couldn’t afford tix at the time.

Going to the DC show.
Hope she does Burning Up!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 11, 2024 6:06 PM |
Lots of her fans here on DL
Serious question, not snark: why has she never been as big in the States as elsewhere?
Australian friends have no explanation.

Shitty radio airplay, R32??
The only songs US radio ever really tried to push were Locomotion and Can't Get You....
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 11, 2024 6:12 PM |
She had a big U.S. hit with The Locomotion, but I don't think her record label ever pushed her aggressively to U.S. audiences after that. She's tried very hard to break through over the years, but I don't think she's ever had the backing she needs.
And when Padam became a huge hit last year, she faced discrimination from U.S. radio, which has always been averse to promoting women over 50. Had she been 20 when she released it, things could've gone differently.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 11, 2024 6:13 PM |
R34 - you're forgetting about her most successful era in the U.S. -- the Fever album period of 2002-3 (with Can't Get You Out of My Head, Love at First Sight, Come Into My World and In Your Eyes.) Can't Get You Out of My Head was a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Love at First Sight was a top 20 hit and the album reached #3 on the Billboard 200. She'll never have hits like that again.
There are probably a myriad of reasons she hasn't been as big in the U.S. -- from not having that built-in early audience from her Neighbours days -- Neighbours was a MASSIVE show in the U.K. at that time. Today, you see a similar effect for the young pop stars who come up through Disney and Nickelodeon shows -- it gives them a massive, built-in audience that has been following them since their teen/tween TV days -- just like Sabrina Carpenter today.
Beyond that, Kylie has almost exclusively made dance pop music, which has always been more popular in the UK and Europe. She's also got a healthy dose of camp and queerness in her output -- which UK and Europe welcome into the mainstream culture more widely than the U.S. does.

I have my tickets for MSG the weekend before my birthday. I'm excited.
But I'm also a weirdo and like her Aphrodite phase better than any of the other ones. "Get Out Of My Way" is just truly great dance-pop.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 11, 2024 6:38 PM |
Just listened. I think it's her worst album in... a quarter century? There are a handful of solid tracks that would make a decent EP, but it's clear that she and her label wanted to replicate Padam Padam's success.... unfortunately, what they've done is create a bunch of faceless, charmless, bland Euro-dance tracks that sound like B-sides from a moderately successful Eastern European singer's album circa 2007. Oh, well, she's still absolutely fabulous and I still can't wait to see her on tour!

The "Aphrodite" album and tour is LEGENDARY. She will probably never top that moment but she continues to be a solid, consistent artist with incredible longevity. She's been at it for about 40 years and still slays.

I was being a hasty bitch. Listened to it three times through at the gym today and, gotta say, it's a lot better than my initial impressions suggested. It's not going to change the culture, but it's actually a very solid collection of dance songs with more interesting production, arrangements and vocals than I picked up on my first listen. I bet some of these will absolutely go OFF on the tour, too.

Madonna is quite fond of Kylie and vice versa.

I downloaded some of the songs from Tension II, but there really isn't one memorable tune on it. It's just a bunch of standard techno pop stuff.
I'm surprised she didn't try and find a song with a "hook" like "Padam" to put on this album so she could continue to ride that wave.
