I used to make my brother try to recreate the lift with me in the pool when we were kids.

Donna Summer was originally offered the song but she turned it down because she didn't like the title "Dirty Dancing." Very stupid decision that cost her a huge hit song and millions of dollars.

Why wasn't Joe cocker asked to duet?

Never seen Dirty Dancing (yeah, I know) but damn if that wasn't one of the best '80s ballads. Jennifer Warnes! Bill Medley! TALENT! So much warm fuzzy nostalgia.

There’s like a trend on Twitter atm where woke far-left posters are like, “Yeah, but people don’t notice that this takes place in a Jewish concentration camp. Because all the Jews were segregated.”
It was Catskills. In 1962. At a holiday camp. The Jews don’t always want to be integrated. They like to be amongst themselves. People are crazy.

Bill does the song with his daughter in concert now. I think Daryl Hall and Kim Carnes also turned down the song. Donna was going to be paired up with her husbands Brooklyn dreams bandmate Joe Esposito but mentioned above turned it down. Medley said no because he wasn’t too enthusiastic about the song and his wife was about to have their daughter. I think both medley and warnes came on at the last minute. I wonder if Donna would’ve reconsidered if Hall or Medley were attached to it.

This song is absolutely not a ballad.
