Dumb bitches

by Anonymousreply 2September 28, 2024 1:00 AM

Well, they wanted lots of attention. Now they have it.

by Anonymousreply 3September 28, 2024 1:01 AM

Also, of all things oil to be going after ... oil paintings? They might as well go after vegetable oil.

by Anonymousreply 4September 28, 2024 1:05 AM

Excellent news.

by Anonymousreply 5September 28, 2024 1:13 AM

Are not all the priceless paintings really reproductions on display? The real deal is kept in the back.

by Anonymousreply 6September 28, 2024 1:16 AM

I hope they are targets in prison.

by Anonymousreply 7September 28, 2024 1:36 AM

By art lovers, r7?

by Anonymousreply 8September 28, 2024 1:39 AM

What did Vincent ever do to *them*?

by Anonymousreply 9September 28, 2024 1:40 AM

R8 By the violent criminally insane,

by Anonymousreply 10September 28, 2024 1:42 AM

What is that at r1?

by Anonymousreply 11September 28, 2024 1:43 AM

Any art experts on here? How do they fix the paintings when dumb cunts do something like this?

by Anonymousreply 12September 28, 2024 2:16 AM

Two years isn’t enough. Ten years hard labor is preferable.

by Anonymousreply 13September 28, 2024 2:34 AM

Sorry, aren’t.

by Anonymousreply 14September 28, 2024 2:34 AM

R14 No, you were right—an amount of time takes the singular.

by Anonymousreply 15September 28, 2024 2:40 AM

R12 That painting is under glass. No damage done.

The damage is to the frame which is a valuable piece in its own right.

by Anonymousreply 16September 28, 2024 3:28 AM

They want to be martyrs, stick their asses in jail for the next decade.

by Anonymousreply 17September 28, 2024 3:32 AM

I've seen Sunflowers in person. It looks better in person. It looks like it's lit from behind, somehow.

by Anonymousreply 18September 28, 2024 3:36 AM

Two years is not nearly enough.

If you attempt to destroy a priceless piece of art, you should also be fined 10X the value of the piece. As Sunflowers is worth several hundred million dollars, I think we could call it even if the fine were $1 billion.

Also, you should have to stay in jail until the fine is paid.

by Anonymousreply 19September 28, 2024 3:41 AM

I was fortunate enough to see 2 Van Gogh exhibitions....one in Philadelphia in the early 1970s and the big one at the Met in 1984.

Back in those days you could get pretty close to the paintings and there was no protection.

At the Met show I remember reading the card for one of the paintings and noticing it was on loan from Elizabeth Taylor.

That painting sold a few years ago for 40 million. Liz had it hanging in her living room. Imagine.

by Anonymousreply 20September 28, 2024 3:43 AM

I was intrigued about Liz owning a Van Gogh. Here's the story:

(She died in 2011. Sold at auction in 2012 for $16 mil.

Purchased by Liz's father in 1963. Father was an art dealer, It was indeed in her living room.

The impressionists are going to rough them up in prison.

by Anonymousreply 22September 28, 2024 3:54 AM

They should take them out in public and conk their heads together, toss them in a vat of soup and then send them to prison.

by Anonymousreply 23September 28, 2024 3:56 AM

If I were a billionaire, I'd be buying art to ensure that it doesn't get hidden away by other billionaires. I'd then "loan" it to various museums.

by Anonymousreply 24September 28, 2024 3:56 AM

When they go and create inconveniences for the actual executives responsible for discouraging climate change initiatives, then I'll start to think they're not just bored, narcissistic attention seekers.

And look at that picture. Pink hair, baggy, genderless clothing. Way to be a walking a stereotype.

by Anonymousreply 25September 28, 2024 3:58 AM

BRAVO! Enough of this shit. She can paint with soup on her prison wall. Welcome to the real world.

A few weeks ago a Stop Oil snowflake was sentence to prison for blocking traffic and the mother that created this entitled idiot could only talk about how Cressandra, or some annoying, pompous name like that, was going to miss her brother's wedding. No word about the impact of her snowflake's actions on the lives of many people. There really needs to be consequences for all this ridiculous behavior.

by Anonymousreply 26September 28, 2024 4:01 AM

These idiots are going to cause museums to put great works behind glass. It is not the same visual experience and the paints were never meant to be experienced that way.

I think people who block traffic should just be turned into roadkill.

by Anonymousreply 27September 28, 2024 4:06 AM

[quote]Sold at auction in 2012 for $16 mil.

And sold again (Christie's) in 2018 for $39,687,500.

by Anonymousreply 28September 28, 2024 4:08 AM

The Mona Lisa was behind glass and behind some velvet ropes when I saw it. This was a long time ago. If you can believe it, I was the only one looking at it, at that moment.

by Anonymousreply 29September 28, 2024 4:08 AM

In 1963?

by Anonymousreply 30September 28, 2024 4:23 AM

Boys will be girls..

by Anonymousreply 31September 28, 2024 4:26 AM

Soup!

by Anonymousreply 32September 28, 2024 4:32 AM

R30, no, but maybe 20 years ago. It was also in the fall, before the holidays.

by Anonymousreply 33September 28, 2024 5:04 AM

Reality is dumb people are stupid and the whole scenario is ridiculous. Art should never be "worth" millions of dollars People shouldn't use defacing beautiful creations as a way to have a voice so their planet doesn't cook. I can see the kids point, they're frustrated because people refuse to be inconvenienced by change. These naive brats are going to be jailed at the expense of the taxpayer which is also stupid.

by Anonymousreply 34September 28, 2024 5:11 AM

When they’re released from prison, they should have to serve in a soup kitchen for the homeless for another couple of years. Day in,day out, serving tomato soup!

by Anonymousreply 35September 28, 2024 5:11 AM

That..is caneface, r11. Pure unadulterated caneface.

by Anonymousreply 36September 28, 2024 5:41 AM

Soup Nazis

by Anonymousreply 37September 28, 2024 5:50 AM

The one on the right sho is ugly

by Anonymousreply 38September 28, 2024 5:54 AM

Why is the museum always empty when they pull these stunts. I have not been to an empty museum in years. Huge lines and huge awful crowds

by Anonymousreply 39September 28, 2024 5:58 AM

Meanwhile Huw Edwards got a suspended sentence for possessing child porn.

by Anonymousreply 40September 28, 2024 6:36 AM

Cut their fucking hands off.

by Anonymousreply 41September 28, 2024 6:38 AM

They should both be locked up forever, r40.

by Anonymousreply 42September 28, 2024 6:38 AM

I hope they get shanked.

by Anonymousreply 43September 28, 2024 6:39 AM

Call me when they dump sunflower oil on these:

Luckily that didn't happen in the US, where they would be given ten hrs of community service and be forced to take a class in art appreciation.

by Anonymousreply 45September 28, 2024 10:19 AM

They should be banned for life from all museums, libraries, etc.

by Anonymousreply 46September 29, 2024 3:25 PM

I think I read somewhere the Mona Lis is behind several inches (4-6?) of laminated polycarbonate. That's going to keep a small explosive away.

by Anonymousreply 47September 29, 2024 3:32 PM

it's probably a fake one. the real one is in a bank vault somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 48September 30, 2024 1:27 AM

I'm tired of these performative demonstrations - blocking car traffic, throwing orange shit on buildings/planes/whatever, threatening to destroy artwork and vandalize other things.

NONE OF THIS WORKS. Bunch of brats trying to get attention.

They would do better to create social media campaigns or really ANYTHING else.

They think 'oh this is great - I'll get this in the press all over the world' - yes you will and NOBODY will support you. You've just amplified opposition - not support.

by Anonymousreply 49September 30, 2024 1:33 AM

Elizabeth Taylor smoked two packs a day. I can just imagine her cleaning lady going over that Van Gogh with Lemon Pledge.
