I miss the 90s in a way that actually makes my heart ache.
I should qualify this by saying I lived in ultra-liberal, accepting environments in the 90s. I understand not everyone was so lucky.

Me too, OP. Lived in liberal area. Great memories. Such a time of prosperity. But how I wish I could go back to that time and be with the one who got away.

Yawn. The 60s and 70s were more interesting and then people became placid.

Not to mention flaccid later in the '80s. AIDS is a total boner killer.

I'm not OP but that's why I miss the '90s too. I just heard one of "our" songs today and it still kicks me in the teeth.

Yes, it was a time that sucked less - but we didn't know, or appreciate, the less suckingness

Everyone was still young. Now they're 92.

The 90's were good - but I have to say, the 90's fashion, particularly late 90's, was fucking AWFUL. I know we always look back and say similar things about other decades, but it really was shit.
Huge unfitted suits and dress shirts.

What does 90 possess?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 27, 2024 4:35 AM |
I will say this— as a late 80s baby I feel like the 90s where the first generation where the media had more of an impact than our parents. Don’t get me wrong. Media was influential in prior decades but something about the 90s it was a unifying force. Even if you grew up in the projects in Harlems, burbs in Nashville, the noveua rich of Atlanta-it was just something mass media, Hollywood took upon power. You just have to be a Millennial to get it.

Harlem* not Harlems damn backspacing and then autotype

Yes. I miss not having bills and having to budget every minute detail of my life away. Just wake up. Eat my cereal while watching The Power Rangers. Go to school. Come home. Do homework. Turn on Kids WB and not have a care in the world as soon as the lineup started.
Adult life is just ghetto. No return policy. You're just thrown into that shit, learn as you go, and then you die.
Yes, by all means, take us back to the 90s.

No cell phones, slow internet, video stores, $20 CDs, waiting for your favorite show to come on.
No thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 27, 2024 6:29 AM |
Then you're ridiculous and obstinate, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 27, 2024 6:31 AM |
It makes my heart ache in ways no one born after me would ever get.

R13 - even more so - looking at physical maps, getting lost, having to ask for directions, getting stuck in traffic for hours because you don't know any better routes around it.
Pay phones, half of which didn't work.
