Do you prefer talking or texting?
I’m a texter.
I often wonder how I survived life in the old days, having to phone people. It could be terrifying. But now? Even most businesses are becoming aware of the need to communicate by text & will let you text them.
I’m an introvert with poor auditory processing.

Are you on the spectrum? What makes phone calls “terrifying.”

I have auditory processing issues. It’s disabling at times using phones.
And you seem to lack empathy.

I guess it’s something to see a shrink about…

Talking. All this fucking typing. It takes forever to have a fucking conversation. And don't get me started with emoji and the illiteracy those represent.

Texting all the way. I hate speaking on the phone.

I don’t know what would be intimidating about a work related call - they’re very specific and impersonal.
How challenging is it to say, “I’m calling to confirm Friday’s meeting at 2:00.”
(Maybe my office tasks haven’t been very exciting.)

Texting. But if you had asked me years ago when texting first became a thing, I would have said talking. I thought texting was stupid and didn't understand why people didn't just make a call instead. But I've grown to hate making and receiving calls, especially when all I need is to ask and/or reply to a specific question. Texting is much quicker for things like that.

Depends on the purpose. I don't like going back and forth texting, forever. If a phone conversation would clear things up faster, then I prefer a phone call.

Yes, some situations are better explained over the phone rather than texting

Each has its place.
In a work situation, when someone presents me with a list of things they want me to accomplish, usually in a very specific manner, I'd much rather be able to read the list than memorize it as I stand there. This was a real problem with one particular old boss who would just gas on at length about what he wanted me to do. I'd try to write it all down, but I was never fast enough.
I don't know if this is exactly what OP meant about auditory processing issues, but texting would have made my life so much better in that situation.
That said, I hate texting with friends. I loathe long conversations I have to type. I'd much rather talk.

I hate talking on the phone, but love in-person conversations.

Team Text.
The very thought of talking on the phone can be anxiety-inducing. My friends and family members tend to be longwinded on the phone, and I can barely get a word in without feeling I'm interrupting them.
Such is the life of a functional introvert.

Actual human interaction? Nah, go back to your text bubble.

Of course texting. Clearer, faster, less intrusive.

I have a friend who likes to text but he doesn't use punctuation marks and thinks you're stupid if you can't understand what he texted you. He loves texting when drunk too....so bad

Some men do the talking test cos they want to hear if your voice is masculine.

Talking on the phone because tone of voice comes through a voice call. That said, the lightning speed of SMS can't beat a phone call for quick communication.
Like r9 mentioned I also thought texting was stupid at first - face it, most textspeak abbreviations are like something a 10 year old would use - but it has its place.

It depends on the situation. I text a lot more.
But it's never bothered me to talk on the phone.

sometimes it's smarter to call on the phone. you don't want text messages as evidence esp if you're having an affair etc

It depends on the person I'm communicating with and if it's regarding specific information or just catching up with a friend or family. I like to have specific information recorded so I can refer to it later, such as dates and times. I can be quite A.D.D' ish, so a record really helps. I dislike the lack of personal contact with texting. One gets much more information about the human condition on a phone or better yet in person.
