I don’t have any friend or family there but I’ve always wanted to see Baltimore. Is it worth going just ti see the city?
Visiting Baltimore

In Baltimore all seems to breathe freedom and peace, and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.

I love going to the old timey wharf

Inner Harbor is fun for a few hours, that's about it

If you're going to the Lipstick Beauty Salon, be aware that they cater to ravishing beauties only.

It’s honestly not. But if you do visit you can also visit DC easily and cheaply. And you can also rent a car and head down to colonial Williamsburg. The Chesapeake area has so much varied culture in such a concentrated area. It’s awesome.

The Inner Harbor is not what it was before the pandemic. Crime is an issue if that bothers you. Even in Fells Point. Why not go to Annapolis instead?

R6 "Crime is an issue if that bothers you."
I don't love it when I'm the victim.

It can be quite a fun town if you have the right guide!

Go to the Inner Harbor for an afternoon and be out by nightfall

Your close thing will be rife with the smell of "Old Bay" emanating from the McCormick's factory OP.

Make sure you visit the Walters Art Museum and climb the Washington Column. Both within walking distance of the fabulous Penn Station.

I had crabs when I went, both kinds!

When visiting Baltimore, be sure to protect your car aerials.
My trashy mother will steal it and threaten to whip me with it.

Make sure you get an MDOT pass to use the bus and subway.

Oh, Baltimore, My college roommate at Vassar, Kitty, is from Baltimore. I stayed with her and her family a few few times. It was a hoot. The neighborhoods have elegant charm! We saw the ballet and had the most exquisite crab. If possible, drive out to her grandparents ranch. It is to die for.
Baltimore and Maryland are full of history, class, affluence, and picturesque scenery.

OMG, OP -- didn't you ever see The Wire?
Yes, it's like that, still. Some things never change.

Oh, hon.

Skip it and keep driving.

If you head up I-83, you can stop in PA Dutch Country and get some incredible (and horribly fattening) food.

Does Baltimore warrant a day trip from D.C.? I'm visiting D.C. (frequent visitor) at the end of month and considering taking a morning Amtrak over and late afternoon train back.

Yes R22.
The train stations on both ends are fabulous.

Thank you for the tips. Any suggestions for lunch? I’m thinking seafood.

I love Baltimore, it’s very different.
Stay in Mount Vernon or Fells Point.
