she is stepping down after more than five years as co-anchor.

by Anonymousreply 121October 1, 2024 3:39 PM

Things must be really bad between her and Savannah for her to quit.

by Anonymousreply 1September 26, 2024 12:34 PM

Not so fast Matt Lauer...

by Anonymousreply 2September 26, 2024 12:34 PM

I know she has help but it takes a lot of energy to raise young kids at 60. She does look great for her age.

by Anonymousreply 3September 26, 2024 12:36 PM

She looks like the epitome of a

FRAU

by Anonymousreply 4September 26, 2024 12:37 PM

R4, because she is a Frau

by Anonymousreply 5September 26, 2024 12:39 PM

r4 I would think that you are required to look professional for the news

by Anonymousreply 6September 26, 2024 12:39 PM

Maybe she’ll go full circle and end up back in True Crime where she began?

by Anonymousreply 7September 26, 2024 12:40 PM

I like her and she certainly has a lot of bubbly enthusiasm and good nature for an old broad. She kind of reminds me of Dinah Shore in that was, minus the Southern drawl.

by Anonymousreply 8September 26, 2024 12:49 PM

Maybe they’re going to put Ivanka on with Jenna?

by Anonymousreply 9September 26, 2024 12:50 PM

R8 Like Dinah Shore in what way 🫢 ?

by Anonymousreply 10September 26, 2024 12:52 PM

I'm going to miss her -- I watch Today for maybe 1/2 hour in the morning, and I'm not crazy about Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 11September 26, 2024 12:56 PM

Is Ann Curry available!

by Anonymousreply 12September 26, 2024 1:00 PM

I wonder what her fucking problem is? She’s paid like 10 million a year to just sit there like a dope!

by Anonymousreply 13September 26, 2024 1:02 PM

Those morning shoes have too many freaking people. Two anchors, a news reader, and a weather person is all you need.

by Anonymousreply 14September 26, 2024 1:16 PM

Shows!

by Anonymousreply 15September 26, 2024 1:16 PM

Working that early really changes your whole life schedule, I couldn't do it long term. I am the first to bitch about people but I always liked Hoda. I can't stand nepo Jenna.

by Anonymousreply 16September 26, 2024 1:18 PM

Maybe she’s retiring to Dinah Shores

by Anonymousreply 17September 26, 2024 1:22 PM

"More than five years.... " Wow! FIVE! Puts us peons with more than 30 years in a job in the SHADE!

by Anonymousreply 18September 26, 2024 1:23 PM

Well in all fairness R18, Hoda has been doing NBC morning for 16 years.

by Anonymousreply 19September 26, 2024 1:35 PM

This is so over the top. What happened to this show? Where’s the dignity? Compare this with Katie Couric’s announcement after 15 years in the job. Get it together!

by Anonymousreply 20September 26, 2024 1:43 PM

She's having more kids, said she wanted to expand her family.

by Anonymousreply 21September 26, 2024 1:45 PM

I hope that's not true, R21. She's way too old to buy another baby. Isn't that why her boyfriend left? He was okay with the one kid, but then she wanted more and he was outta there.

by Anonymousreply 22September 26, 2024 1:57 PM

Savannah Guthrie is a cold bitch. Hoda brought some warmth to the mornings, but I can't imagine watching that fundie harpy Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 23September 26, 2024 1:59 PM

One down, one more to go.

by Anonymousreply 24September 26, 2024 2:05 PM

As time goes on and cast members leave, Al is really starting to look like Grandpa Moses. I think they'll have to relocate the studio to an undisclosed location to get rid of him though.

by Anonymousreply 25September 26, 2024 2:06 PM

R14, you should check out the third hour sometime.

There are four anchors and they all participate in each interview from what I’ve seen.

Consequently, there is no flow. It’s terrible.

by Anonymousreply 26September 26, 2024 2:42 PM

Good morning, everybody. Good morning, good morning. Everybody, good morning ...

by Anonymousreply 27September 26, 2024 4:33 PM

Bring Matt Lauer back!

by Anonymousreply 28September 26, 2024 4:39 PM

I’ve got some free time!

by Anonymousreply 29September 26, 2024 4:43 PM

Bunch of nitpickers here. I like having a team of players. Yoda is great. Savannah is as well. Sheinelle Jones is very talented and down to earth...her interview with Ryan Lochte on a local Philly station is hysterical to watch. Jenna Bush was hired due to her relatives, but she's come into her own. I want Craig Melvin deep inside me. And Al Roker is lovable.

by Anonymousreply 30September 26, 2024 4:44 PM

Great as an anchor, Yoda is. Yes, hmmm. So is Hoda! ^^^^

by Anonymousreply 31September 26, 2024 4:45 PM

Al should leave with Hoda. He’s so crabby and cranky most of the time.

by Anonymousreply 32September 26, 2024 4:52 PM

Good for her. She can work a few times a year doing specials, appearances, speeches and make serious bank. She just moved to the suburbs with her kids and took time off when they started school a couple of weeks ago. This has probably been planned for quite some time.

by Anonymousreply 33September 26, 2024 5:16 PM

I also really like Hoda. I prefer to believe she is really genuine.

I can't find it on Youtube, but I remember her appearance on air the morning after the Saints won the Superbowl. Giddy as a child and drunk as a skunk, clearly having partied all night. That's when I really came to like her.

by Anonymousreply 34September 26, 2024 5:29 PM

Another who likes Hoda here. Savannah not so much. Not sure what I will do for morning background noise once Hoda's gone.

by Anonymousreply 35September 26, 2024 5:32 PM

Isn’t she on air for four hours every morning? That’s got to be draining.

by Anonymousreply 36September 26, 2024 5:35 PM

Sher deserves to retire. More people need to take their money and step back at age 60. Certainly anyone in politics should be forced out no later than 65. Make room for new leadership with new ideas. Know when it's time to go.

by Anonymousreply 37September 26, 2024 5:36 PM

Not sure how much she makes, but you can't tell me it's not enough to retire on. She been doing this a while now.

by Anonymousreply 38September 26, 2024 5:37 PM

R38, she has to be worth at least $50 million.

by Anonymousreply 39September 26, 2024 5:48 PM

Time for my comeback!

by Anonymousreply 40September 26, 2024 5:56 PM

Please please do NOT make Craig Melvin her replacement on the First 2 hours of the Today Show. Cannot stand his egotistical ass.

by Anonymousreply 41September 26, 2024 5:59 PM

Those years getting hammered everyday with Boozie Lee must have taken their toll

by Anonymousreply 42September 26, 2024 5:59 PM

Hoda, join me on the farm. We can drink wine and take our Balance of Nature pills!

by Anonymousreply 43September 26, 2024 6:09 PM

So What....Who Cares

by Anonymousreply 44September 26, 2024 6:15 PM

Rumour.....Mika B. is being considered for TODAY post to get her off of Morning Joe and away from Joe.

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2024 6:19 PM

Hoda was on local news when I lived in NOLA and everyone in town seemed to love her.

by Anonymousreply 46September 26, 2024 6:28 PM

R46, I've heard this from many of my New Orleans friends.

by Anonymousreply 47September 26, 2024 6:30 PM

OMG, I hate Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 48September 26, 2024 6:34 PM

Bring back Willard Scott!

by Anonymousreply 49September 26, 2024 6:34 PM

This is what I remember most, Hoda and the Moss Man (at 1:30). I think this was her first Mardi Gras.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50September 26, 2024 6:37 PM

This may be it R34. Both she and Savannah look lit.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2024 6:53 PM

Oh my, R45! I know Mika hosts Morning Joe, but she'd be like an ice princess to the Today Show viewers.

by Anonymousreply 52September 26, 2024 6:56 PM

Well, at least we can be pretty sure they won't bring Megyn Kelly back.

by Anonymousreply 53September 26, 2024 7:23 PM

Thanks, R41, but the spot I'm looking for was Hoda by herself and didn't last long. She was slurring and laughing and it was marvelous. I suspect it may have bee expunged.

by Anonymousreply 54September 26, 2024 7:23 PM

The Bush girl is in charge now? Stop the nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 55September 26, 2024 7:33 PM

Bring back Ann Curry!

by Anonymousreply 56September 26, 2024 7:34 PM

I hear Ryan Seacrest wants another job.

by Anonymousreply 57September 26, 2024 7:34 PM

Guaranteed Andy Cohen is already angling hard for it.

by Anonymousreply 58September 26, 2024 9:08 PM

It's the only way we could get rid of Jenna..

by Anonymousreply 59September 26, 2024 9:28 PM

Is Jenna the Bush daughter that was passed out in the bushes in Panama City during spring break? I recall that old battle axe Barbara making fun of her, saying she was just like her father.

by Anonymousreply 60September 26, 2024 10:07 PM

[quote]I can't find it on Youtube, but I remember her appearance on air the morning after the Saints won the Superbowl. Giddy as a child and drunk as a skunk, clearly having partied all night. That's when I really came to like her.

She's told the story of reporting from New Orleans after Katrina — unwashed, unslept, and filthy dirty. There was nowhere to change at the station where they were loading people onto buses, and she turned her back to change her blouse.

A woman on one of the buses yelled, "HODA KOTB! WE CAN SEE YOUR TIDDIES!"

by Anonymousreply 61September 26, 2024 10:20 PM

R50 that is almost the exact same speech she gave on the today show this morning.

by Anonymousreply 62September 26, 2024 11:46 PM

[quote] Did she fuck Burt Reynolds, too?

by Anonymousreply 63September 27, 2024 12:05 AM

I’ll do it for half the price NBC.

by Anonymousreply 64September 27, 2024 12:14 AM

Hoda and Savannah were half in the bag during the Olympic opening ceremonies too

by Anonymousreply 65September 27, 2024 12:37 AM

Savannah's mouth, especially the upper lip, is fugly as hell. She gives off huge mean-girl vibes, too.

In short, I FUCKING HATE HER.

by Anonymousreply 66September 27, 2024 12:43 AM

Hoda is a good journalist. I just can’t stand morning shows. Everyone talks loudly at the same time. It reminds me of the SNL “Attitudes” parody, the hosts jabbering at the same time, overwhelming the guest and back channeling at every opportunity.

by Anonymousreply 67September 27, 2024 1:30 AM

As far as morning TV goes, Hoda is pretty good. Her voice is low and soothing, and she doesn’t default to manic pixie mode. Jenna Bush has improved, she isn’t a natural but she is a good foil with Hoda. Their friendship seems genuine.

by Anonymousreply 68September 27, 2024 1:33 AM

David Muir should host the morning show. He should host mid day news. Evening news. 11’ o clock news. Every single news show should be hosted by David Muir.

by Anonymousreply 69September 27, 2024 1:40 AM

R29 wins

by Anonymousreply 70September 27, 2024 1:46 AM

[quote]I know she has help but it takes a lot of energy to raise young kids at 60. She does look great for her age.

Which is why celebrities in their mid-50s should not be buying babies. Let younger couples who want a family adopt these children.

by Anonymousreply 71September 27, 2024 2:16 AM

[quote]"Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have," she said. "I feel like we only have a finite amount of time.

The adoption agency should have given this consideration seven years ago, and said no to her. But money can buy you kids.

by Anonymousreply 72September 27, 2024 2:19 AM

I wonder if this was NBC's decision ? They don't like women behind the anchor desk as they age - ask Jane Pauley.

In the meantime, I nominate Meghan MyFather McCain for her spot ! Imagine the tension between her and Jenna hosting the 4th hour of the show ? Better than 'The View'.

by Anonymousreply 73September 27, 2024 2:22 AM

Interesting that Hoda announces she's leaving, a week after Gayle King inks a new deal with CBS (and King is nearly a decade older than Hoda). I guess the network wouldn't match King's CBS salary, so she walked instead of renewing a contract ?

by Anonymousreply 74September 27, 2024 2:30 AM

Well, hello!

Welcome to my fourth hour of Today!

by Anonymousreply 75September 27, 2024 2:31 AM

Coming soon: The Gio and Tommy Show!

by Anonymousreply 76September 27, 2024 3:04 AM

I can handle watching her with Jenna, but I can’t abide that no-lipped cunt, Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 77September 27, 2024 3:19 AM

She’s a class act & will be missed.

by Anonymousreply 78September 27, 2024 3:23 AM

Id rather sleep.

by Anonymousreply 79September 27, 2024 3:28 AM

I must say I admire Hoda's courage to become a mother at her age and then to leave a great gig like The Today Show...I know I could never turn down that type of money. She's very brave!

by Anonymousreply 80September 27, 2024 3:36 AM

R72 I don’t think there was a queue of people wanting to adopt two little brown girls. I think the oldest has special needs? Hoda has more resources for special needs kids than many younger couples. International adoptions are tough, most kids need extra medical and education help.

by Anonymousreply 81September 27, 2024 3:44 AM

[quote] This is so over the top. What happened to this show? Where’s the dignity? Compare this with Katie Couric’s announcement after 15 years in the job. Get it together!

R20 You aren't kidding! Worst of all, throughout this sob-fest she barely even made the actual announcement that she's leaving the show. Some reporting there! Instead, there's like 90 seconds of a build-up, she finally sputters out that she's "stepping back" or however she said it, and then it's another 4.5 minutes of "these are tears of love / I can't imagine doing the show without you" schmaltz. And I say this as someone who likes Hoda, even though I haven't watched Today in many years since even before she came in to replace the odious sex pest Matt Lauer.

Meanwhile, here was Katie Couric's announcement. It starts around 2:30. Heartfelt, authentic, yet still....professional. Give me this any day, compared to the setup today of having half a dozen co-anchors on the couch all crying over one another.

by Anonymousreply 83September 27, 2024 3:57 AM

I might be available.

by Anonymousreply 84September 27, 2024 4:24 AM

No one cried when Katie left because she is an unlikeable cunt.

by Anonymousreply 85September 27, 2024 4:53 AM

[quote]Hoda and Savannah were half in the bag during the Olympic opening ceremonies too

A smart choice on their part, I wouldn't have wanted to see them sober.

by Anonymousreply 86September 27, 2024 5:00 AM

R81 You'd be surprised. When a couple wants to have a family and have their hearts set on adoption, they welcome any child into the family because they truly want the child. They don't have money - they have love and time.

Keep these wealthy celebrities away from buying babies.

by Anonymousreply 88September 27, 2024 4:08 PM

"Take my wife! Please!"

Mike Schmidt (and on behalf of the MSNBC late afternoon audience).

by Anonymousreply 89September 27, 2024 5:35 PM

R88 It looks like what came between them in the end was a big dick

by Anonymousreply 90September 28, 2024 12:51 PM

Didn't she have breast cancer? Maybe it's back!

by Anonymousreply 91September 28, 2024 1:03 PM

Her replacement must be a black woman... a true black woman, which is why I am the only choice.

by Anonymousreply 92September 28, 2024 2:05 PM

So this is just speculation, but...

I think Hoda's replacement might be Jeff Glor, one of the anchors of CBS Saturday Morning and a previous anchor of the CBS Evening News. He just announced that he's leaving "SATMO" and CBS.

[quote]If you haven’t heard, I’m leaving the network and CBS,” he said. “This will be my last show on Saturday Morning...I love working with great people and putting quality on the air. Interviewing and anchoring and reporting and doing stories that matter and will last. That is not going away, it never will. I hope to see you again real soon.

Jeff Glor is terrific on Saturday Morning—personable and funny—and he's not bad to look at. He gets along very well with his two female co-anchors and is a team player. If they decide to go with a new male co-anchor, I think he would fit in very well in the old Matt Lauer slot.

by Anonymousreply 93September 29, 2024 12:32 AM

Seacrest is going to take her spot.

by Anonymousreply 94September 29, 2024 12:35 AM

R94 - LOL - I was just thinking that. Seacrest is slumming it on Wheel of Fortune - I don't think he really wants to be there and it's just not a good fit.

by Anonymousreply 95September 29, 2024 12:43 AM

That’s plain dumb. NBC isn’t going to pass over a half-dozen in-house prospects for a failed CBS dude.

by Anonymousreply 96September 29, 2024 12:44 AM

Seacrest and Guthrie at each other’s throats would be good TV.

by Anonymousreply 97September 29, 2024 1:33 AM

[quote]NBC isn’t going to pass over a half-dozen in-house prospects for a failed CBS dude.

Can you please list the "over a half-dozen in-house prospects?" So far, I've only seen second-stringers mentioned in this thread, or folks with a perfectly good day job they won't be leaving.

by Anonymousreply 98September 29, 2024 1:45 AM

Glor with that god awful rug on his head? No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 99September 29, 2024 2:25 AM

Read the article r98 in the Hollywood Reporter. Or any of the hundreds of other articles addressing your concern.

by Anonymousreply 100September 29, 2024 2:39 AM

R93, you’re joking.

Glor got demoted then shown the door. No journalistic chops, no charm, no following.

He’s not under consideration.

If you read the article, this show is nowhere as lucrative as it once was. They already have a zillion anchors. They ain’t paying to bring someone else in.

by Anonymousreply 101September 29, 2024 10:15 AM

I knew her in school days. She was a genuinely nice person

by Anonymousreply 102September 29, 2024 12:03 PM

They are saying Craig Is in line for the job. Craig is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 103September 29, 2024 1:59 PM

[quote]Craig is an idiot.

Well then he'll be very relatable to most of the audience.

by Anonymousreply 104September 29, 2024 2:15 PM

He’s a very useful idiot…he makes that show better—occasionally. That’s all they want or need. Frauen love him. Smarter than Strahan, and with better teeth.

by Anonymousreply 105September 29, 2024 2:25 PM

The audience is primarily fraus. They don’t go for intellect.

by Anonymousreply 106September 29, 2024 4:09 PM

I would be shocked if it wasn't Craig. No feeling about him one way or another, but he technically is next in line to move up. I don't think it will go well for Today if they go outside of the inner circle. I may tune back to Joe Fryer on NBCNow. I would not be sad about him moving over to Today though.

by Anonymousreply 107September 29, 2024 4:12 PM

R98, everyone is by definition a second-stringer until they get called up.

NBC isn’t paying massive bucks to bring in a big name from the outside. Given the trajectory of the morning TV business, and network TV generally, those days are over.

The last time they did that was Megyn Kelly and look how that worked out.

Hoda Kotb Decided to Exit ‘Today’ After NBC Proposed Cut to Her $20 Million Salary:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 109September 29, 2024 4:24 PM

Well shit, I would too. None of them on that show are worth $20m. YouTubers could replace them.

by Anonymousreply 110September 29, 2024 6:17 PM

NO way was Hoda getting $20 mil. And so she decides to stay at NBC for less than that? Come on, idiots.

by Anonymousreply 111September 29, 2024 10:43 PM

I hope she doesn’t drag this out over months till someone has to pull the lever to drop the safe

by Anonymousreply 112September 30, 2024 7:24 PM

They moved Big dicked Sam Brock to NYC and in studio and sent Tom Yamas out to do hurricane stories. My guess is if they put Craig in the anchor it will be Sam as the "news" person ready to replace Craig. I think they are grooming Tom Yamas to be Lester Holt's replacement and Laura Jarret to be Savannah's when she takes off. Carson has zero chance of being anything but the pop culture guy.

by Anonymousreply 113September 30, 2024 7:25 PM

Llamas!

And is most definitely Holt’s intended replacement.

by Anonymousreply 114September 30, 2024 7:28 PM

Everyone does say that Sam Brock has a HUGE dick!

by Anonymousreply 115September 30, 2024 7:47 PM

He is very, very tall. 🧐

by Anonymousreply 116September 30, 2024 7:54 PM

Why does anyone think that she will be replaced by a white man? That would be the biggest surprise of the year.

by Anonymousreply 117September 30, 2024 8:05 PM

No one does think that

by Anonymousreply 118September 30, 2024 8:06 PM

The cunt is no J. Fred Muggs. Ditch the bitch and can the sentimentality. Hoda cares NOTHING for you. It’s time for the crone to peddle Balance of Nature or better yet, just take her ill gotten gains and GET THE FUCK LOST. I can’t wait for gag inducing “I pooped my pants” at the White House Al Roker to join her in morning TV oblivion. Sick of this loser format SHIT!

by Anonymousreply 119September 30, 2024 8:10 PM

r117 Because the metoo payment of Matt Lauer is over. NBC wants a White man back in charge at Today. When the mains are on vacation it is Craig, Al and Shanelle. Some exec at NBC turned it on and said "when did we become BET?"

by Anonymousreply 120October 1, 2024 3:32 PM

Who still watches morning tv shows? I actually don’t even have tv anymore, just streaming.
